As mental health awareness month comes to a close, this is a timely article about Carry athlete and US Women's Open competitor Hailee Cooper. If you're not familiar, Hailee was an All-EVERYTHING standout as a freshman at The University of Texas at Austin. But like all golfers, she eventually ran into struggles with her game and self-confidence. Self-doubt grew into anxiety and depression, and she almost stepped away from golf entirely. However, she kept going and a transfer to Texas A&M University helped provide the fresh start she needed to regain her confidence. Now in her sophomore year as a pro, she's enjoying golf again and playing with the form that once foreshadowed a potentially dominant pro career. It's inspiring to see someone who was crippled by fear become a fearless competitor once again. She'll contend for majors as a pro. And after her opening round 71 (-1) yesterday that had her inside the Top-20 overnight, why not this week at Erin Hills?
