14 years ago today, 7 people were killed and 3 others were injured when a former student opened fire atOikos University, a Korean Christian college, in Oakland, CA. Easy access to firearms too often leads to tragedy. Today and every day we’re grieving those we’ve lost and advocating for change in their honor.

There is no single solution to our nation's gun violence crisis. That is why we are pleased to join such a strong coalition of diverse, cross-sectional groups committed to creating a safer Pennsylvania and a safer America.
The Pittsburgh Foundation recently gathered local gun violence prevention professionals, advocacy experts, community leaders and Brady: United Against Gun Violence to explore the root causes of gun violence in Allegheny County and share strategies for prevention and intervention. We discussed approaches to address illegal gun sales in our region and integrate trauma care with gun violence intervention methods. Thank you to everyone who joined us in this critical conversation and our partners who helped plan this event from Operation Better Block Inc.; Steel Smiling; Common Cause Consultants; Allegheny County Department of Human Services; City of Pittsburgh; Grace United Church of Christ, Duquesne; The Heinz Endowments; Operation Amani; and Brady United.

Brady was proud to join the Los Angeles Office of Violence Prevention Resource Fair and Teach-In, which brought together local direct service providers, national gun violence prevention groups, and county officials to share resources related to gun violence prevention in Los Angeles county. Our Combating Crime Guns team shared information on the supply of guns used in crimes and ways we can prevent gun violence by stemming the flow of guns into our communities.

In Scream 7, along with the usual jump scares and plot twists, there's an important safety lesson: firearms stored locked securely in a safe. Survival isn’t just about luck, it’s about preparation. When films depict secure firearm storage, they are setting a standard for what safety looks like. Read Brady President Kris Brown's op-ed in USA Today. #ShowGunSafety https://bit.ly/4ssnzlT
