Continuous Integration (CI) Software
Blacksmith provides managed GitHub Actions runners, that are twice as fast and half the cost of GitHub hosted runners. Blacksmith runners run on cutting-edge gaming CPUs with a software stack that is highly optimized for CI. The optimizations include zero cold startup times for our compute, advanced caching semantics for all runtimes and shared layer caches across all Docker builds. All of this ensures your engineering team remains unblocked and spends time on problems pertinent to your business, instead of fighting CI. Organizations using Blacksmith also get rich, out-of-the-box analytics to monitor the health of their CI pipelines.

Blacksmith is part of Redpoint's 2026 InfraRed 100 today. We started Blacksmith to build infrastructure for running CI workloads really fast. Two and a half years later, we're running millions of CI jobs a day for some of the fastest-growing companies. Along the way, we realized something: as AI codegen makes writing code a lot cheaper, a growing amount of work after inference is spent executing code in real environments, validating that it works, and iterating quickly. The infra we built for CI is also useful for validating and iterating on code changes much more broadly, where fast feedback loops matter. There’s a lot more coming :)

Full circle moment: welcoming Andrew Werner to Blacksmith! He and Aayush Shah first worked together at Cockroach Labs back in 2019. Andrew spent 4.5 years at Cockroach Labs as a Member of Technical Staff, then co-founded Side-Eye (acquired by Datadog), where he built the Live Debugger for Go. After that detour through observability, he's coming back to building computing infrastructure. At Blacksmith, he'll be helping shape some of our most ambitious technical bets. We're stoked to have him!

BlackBar: a Mac menubar app for Blacksmith, built by 🦄 Peter Steinberger, creator of OpenClaw. We're big fans of this tool - definitely give it a try if you're on Blacksmith! black.bar

We migrated our GitHub Actions runners over to Blacksmith last week and I'm a bit annoyed I didn't do it sooner. It's a drop-in replacement, cheaper and faster than GitHub-hosted runners, and the NVMe-backed cache is really effective. Our Docker builds went from ~7 minutes to ~90 seconds on the biggest docker image. No code changes, just a one-line swap of the `runs-on` section of the CI pipeline. If you're sitting on slow CI and paying GitHub for the privilege, it's definitely worth a look: Blacksmith

Making CI faster generally comes down to three things: 1. Throw more compute 2. Throw faster compute 3. Skip the slow parts entirely, usually via caching something We just shipped Container Caching, which falls into the third category. A lot of CI jobs depend on Docker. Instead of pulling your service container images from a registry on every run, which can take several minutes, we ensure the runner already has them hydrated. Turns out the fastest way to pull your images is not to pull them at all. Now generally available on Blacksmith

The sales team is on a roll! Hyped to welcome John Gauntlett to Blacksmith. John was the founding enterprise sales hire at Zapier, where he helped build their upmarket sales motion from the ground up. Before that, he spent years closing enterprise deals at RevenueCat and Branch. We can't wait to see him bring Blacksmith to the top engineering orgs!
