A look back at August @ Audible. We shared a special breakfast in Newark, sat down for a conversation with our audABLE impact group, celebrated summer with our teams in Cambridge, Berlin, and San Francisco, and cooled off with some shaved ice at the Newark hub. A great way to close out the summer. Be part of the hubbub: https://lnkd.in/evRee3zV #InsideAudible

Audible recently earned a Gold Brandon Hall Group HCM Excellence Award for Best Learning Strategy. I'm proud of the recognition. I'm prouder of what it represents: thousands of people choosing to learn something genuinely new together. For those outside the HR world — the Brandon Hall Group awards have run for more than 30 years, and every entry is judged independently for real, measurable impact. What made the difference wasn't one big program. It was many ways in: GenAI showcases, an on-demand learning hub, hands-on workshops, and real support to build new AI skills and capabilities.

What does it take to build a reading experience that works for everyone? We asked Gabriela Llerena and Michael Andrews, two of the people behind immersion reading on the Audible app. From the fonts you can choose to full screen reader support, they obsessed over the details that make reading and listening at the same time feel effortless. Hear how they did it: https://adbl.co/3UyUfhG #InsideAudible

audABLE is one of our employee-led Impact Groups, focused on empowering those who identify as having any disability (including invisible and temporary), and their allies, to share experiences and promote accessibility. This conversation is one of many they host throughout the year—pushing us to design, create, and care for the person, not the default. 🧡
Marketing is someone saying "this was made for you." And being right. That was my answer when Andy Marks, the global lead of Audible's audABLE@ Impact Group, opened our discussion with a deceptively simple question: what is marketing? (Thanks, Andy.) When you're right, it saves someone time. When you're wrong, it's just noise. The whole thing turns on one question: do we actually know who "you" are? audABLE is Audible's employee impact group for people who identify as having a disability, including neurodiversity and invisible and temporary disabilities, and their allies. Here's what stuck. Audio was never an accommodation. For a lot of people, audio isn't the accessible version of something else. It's the original accessible format. Our job isn't just to avoid becoming the barrier to something that's already barrier-free. It's to widen the aperture. To imagine new ways for more people to get lost in a story. Design for the person, not the default. Audible Story House, our first-ever physical space for audiobook listeners, wasn't built for a default body with accommodations added later. Listening stations at different heights. Ways to engage seated, standing, or using a mobility device. The question was never "how do we accommodate?" It was "how does each person want to experience this story?" That last question is the whole idea. Start with the person, or start with noise. Grateful to audABLE and Anne Erni Farren Roper Rachel Grossman-Kahn Denise Davis for the conversation.

Eight years ago, we opened the doors to HealHaus with nothing but a vision and a belief that healing shouldn’t be a luxury, it should be a birthright. No outside capital. No shortcuts. Just community, consistency, and a whole lot of faith. Today, seeing that journey featured in Inc. Magazine is a full circle moment I don’t take lightly. From a single studio in Brooklyn to a flagship in Newark in partnership with Audible, this is proof that held space, done right, becomes something people can’t help but believe in. Thank you to everyone who’s walked through our doors, taken our online classes, brought HealHaus to their office spaces, and trusted this vision from day one. If you’re interested in bringing HealHaus programming to your company, reach out to corporatewellness@healhaus.com.

In 2017, Darian Hall shared a vulnerable story on social media about meeting his father for the first time. The response from his community revealed something bigger—people wanted a way into wellness, but nobody had built them a door. So he built one. HealHaus started in Brooklyn's Bed-Stuy with therapy, yoga, a cafe, and a principle: everyone should see themselves reflected in the space. Now, through Audible's Business Attraction Program—which has supported 30+ companies in bringing high-impact businesses to downtown Newark—HealHaus has opened a studio almost double the size of the original. "The more well we are within ourselves, the better we're able to be for our families, our communities, and ultimately the world." Grateful to support this work. Read more via Inc. Magazine.

Great narration isn't instinct alone—it's craft. And craft gets sharper with the right guidance. We recently brought together narrator and voice coach Khristine Hvam and Audible producer Sara Pagluica for a workshop with Society of Voice Arts and Sciences and PANA - The Professional Audiobook Narrators Association, focused on the techniques that separate good performances from unforgettable ones. Narrators, which tip changes how you approach your next session?
