We are extremely excited to welcome Irene Parretti to the Astound family! 🌙💫 Read more about Irene below: My name is Irene. I grew up just outside Florence, Italy, and now I live in the city that shaped so much of how I see. My work is whimsical, magical, and rich in detail. Traditionally I love using watercolor and pencils and I enjoy recreating their texture and brightness digitally. My life has always been defined by curiosity: reading, making, traveling, and learning, then gathering all of it into images that feel specific, tender, and alive. I studied Fine Arts and Printmaking in Florence, then Game Art and Visual Development at Nemo Academy. My process begins with thumbnail sketches in my sketchbook to explore basic values and composition, then moves to digital refinement, value studies, and color palette selection; for larger projects, I build storyboards and character studies. I’m known for carefully following specifications and feedback, and for being professional, communicative, adaptable, and punctual. My fine arts background, eye for color and mood, and knowledge of fashion, costume, and decoration help me create work with depth and intention. As a child I was often alone, and always watching. This sharpened my observation and empathy, and art became the place where I found comfort in beauty and creation. My artistic awakening was watching Sophie enter Howl\'s room in Howl’s Moving Castle and realizing I wanted to create worlds just like that. Outside of work, I travel, read comics and novels, drink tea, wander Florence’s markets and cook for myself and my family. I did ballet and figure skating as a child and still practice them in my free time to feel graceful. ✨So excited to finally share illustrations I created from Arriba del Cerro, a new book published by MPS Limited! 📖 This story follows Ramiro as he visits his mother’s hometown in Peru and experiences the warmth, traditions, music, landscapes, and vibrant culture around him. ✏️Illustrating this book was such a rewarding process, from designing Ramiro’s character to researching traditional Peruvian clothing, environments, colors, and cultural details to help bring the story to life. Shoutout to Alice Jin Zhang & Astound US Inc for this opportunity and for the incredible guidance and support throughout the project!✌️I’m currently open and available for new projects and would love to connect! 🎨📚
