Welcome to Mother Nature's farmacy, where ancient medicine meets modern science.
About us
Apothékary started with our founder, Shizu Okusa, and her family’s traditional Japanese approach to healing — using nature as medicine instead of over-the-counter fixes. In many Eastern cultures, traditional medicine in the form of plants and herb has been used for centuries to address the root cause of common ailments. That’s exactly what we strive to do here at Apothékary - we’re here to not just treat the symptom, but get to the root cause of your wellness woes. The demands of our modern life disconnect us from our inherent state of being. At times, we can forget what it feels like to live in harmony with the natural world. Ancient healing traditions take cues from nature to holistically support our mind, body, and spirit. With daily practice, we’re reminded of what harmony feels like and we wonder how we ever lived without it. Apothékary is on a mission to give ancient, plant-based healing traditions new life—so that you can live a more balanced one. All of our Signature Formulas are thoughtfully formulated by our in-house Clinical Herbalists, pulling from traditional medicine modalities like Japanese Kampo, Traditional Chinese Medicine, Ayurveda, and American herbalism. The result is simple yet effective herbal remedies with tradition and modern science in mind. Each formula contains herbs from local and global farmers with ingredients that are non-GMO, gluten-free, and contain no added sugar, fillers, or additives. In essence, they’re nature’s best remedies—plain and simple. And the best part is, they actually work to address the root cause instead of masking the symptoms. Come with us and reembark on your journey back to balance with Apothékary.

Shizu Okusa’s grandmother never called it “wellness,” she just knew which plants to reach for. Growing up between Japanese tradition and Western culture, our Founder & CEO saw that this quiet wisdom wasn’t always accessible. So, she built a bridge. Happy International Women’s Day to the women preserving knowledge and creating new paths. 🤍 #IWD #internationalwomensday

🌿 Same adaptogens, faster absorption. Today, we’re proud to introduce Origin Extracts, Apothékary’s first-ever collection of single-herb liquid extracts. This new line features three high-concentration botanicals: Ashwagandha, Lion’s Mane, and Turmeric — each designed to spotlight the unique strengths of one plant at a time. Origin Extracts were created for those who value precision, flexibility, and plant integrity. While many products begin with standardized industrial powders, our process starts with the whole, raw herb. From there, we use a dual-extraction method to draw out a broad spectrum of naturally occurring compounds, honoring the plant’s full profile. Delivered in an easy-to-use liquid format, these concentrated drops offer a modern alternative to capsules and powders. They can be used as a standalone ritual for focused, plant-specific support, or layered into existing Apothékary formulas to create a more personalized routine. This collection represents an evolution in how we think about herbal wellness: 🌱 Whole-plant sourcing 🔬 Scientifically intentional extraction ✨ Flexible, customizable rituals Pure. Potent. Purposefully crafted. Learn more here: https://lnkd.in/gepRApyh #Apothékary #OriginExtracts #PlantMedicine #HerbalWellness #InnovationInWellness #RitualOverRoutine

Prepare for the drop 💧 We are so proud to see Apothékary featured in Vogue in a piece on why tinctures are becoming the future of supplements. This is the exact form factor we’ve believed in and built around from the very beginning.
This week, Apothékary™ was featured in Vogue in a piece about the future of supplements — and the focus was tinctures. Faster absorption, easier digestion, and more precise dosing are just a few of the reasons highlighted. https://lnkd.in/ex4shZAE Reading this made me smile, because a few years ago this was a very lonely bet to make. When you build a brand, it’s easy to follow the signals in the market and do what everyone else is doing — pills, powders, gummies, protein — the formats people already understand. But I couldn’t shake the feeling that liquid herbal extracts were incredibly underutilized: portable, potent, efficient, easy to travel with, easy to dose — and actually how herbs were meant to be taken for maximum bioavailability. There’s always a moment as a founder where you can listen to the inner critic or the inner voice. The critic says, no one else is doing this for a reason. The voice says, no one else is doing this yet. We chose the second. Seeing this conversation around form factor move into the mainstream feels less like a trend and more like quiet validation of a risk we took when it wasn’t obvious. A reminder to all the builders out there: differentiation often lives on the other side of discomfort. Grateful to Arden Fanning Andrews for the thoughtful story, and to the incredible Apothékary team who believed in this vision from the beginning. Tina S. We’re honored to see Apothékary™'s Journey East featured in Coveteur. In “What A Trip To Kyoto Taught Me About Stillness,” Taylor Jean Stephan reflects on time spent in Kyoto alongside our founder, Shizu Okusa, and the role intentional slowness played throughout the experience—from ancient wellness rituals to moments of quiet presence. Kyoto is where Shizu’s personal healing journey began, and where the philosophy behind Apothékary first took root: that stillness, intention, and ritual are essential to well-being in a fast-moving world. This feature beautifully captures how creating space to pause can deepen connection, clarity, and joy. Grateful to Coveteur and Taylor for telling this story, and for the opportunity to share a meaningful chapter of our brand’s evolution. Read the full article here: https://lnkd.in/gkHT8cSk
