One year after the Eaton Fire, many survivors are still experiencing the emotional effects of trauma. Through the Balance program, formerly known as the San Gabriel Valley Behavioral Health Expansion program, AltaMed is expanding access to timely, trauma-informed behavioral health care so individuals and families have the support they need to heal. AltaMed was mentioned several times during the Tuesday Executive Address for: • 10 Gold Stars for Configuration (3rd straight year) • 8 Gold Stars for Utilization (2nd straight year) • KLAS Arch Collaborative Pinnacle Awards (for both Physicians & Nursing) • Specialty Steering Board (Dr. Christina Jung MD, MPH, FAAP, FAMIA serving as Chair of the Epic Pediatric Primary Care Steering Board) • Advisory Board (Michael Eaton on SDOH Advisory Board) There were also 3 presentations this year: • Inside a Cyberattack: What You Can Do to Prepare (Ray Lowe at CEO Council) • TEFCA for Government Benefits: Accelerating SSA Disability Claims (Rai-nesha Weldon-Manuel) • From Identification to Intervention: Building Infrastructure for Social Care (Jeffrey Arroyo & Michael Eaton) There are too many takeaways to list, but my biggest ones were: 1. The no-brainer: Cogito Cloud is a must. What it enables and will enable are powerful and with a number of live organizations and over 190 organizations working on this, make sure to prioritize this over the next year as well. Enabling Emmie Virtual Assistant can be one of the quicker ways to go live with Cogito Cloud sooner. But it currently does not support Spanish (or other languages) which is still being tested. When roughly half your patients have a preferred language of Spanish or other languages, ensuring that Emmie will work for them is mission critical to ensure that we do not widen the digital divide. So we will have to get creative on how we make this happen. 2. Rounding: this will evolve further once you have Cogito Assistant, Analyst Build Assistant, and Agent Factory working together. We have already seen the shift where the training team moves from relying on tip sheets and classroom training to flexible e-learning models, freeing them up to spend most of their time out in the front lines where they are needed most. Changing the way analysts work will free them up to be expected to be onsite to round as well. Having a trainer, analyst, and informaticist round together will become more feasible in the future, allowing the Sprint Optimization Team concept to become more commonplace most importantly with the resources you already have in place. 3. Stick with the tried & true: meeting with Samuel Seering and Josh Taranto was a good reminder that not everything has to be about AI all the time. Effective tried & true methods such as workqueue automation can be done and would benefit most of us. Lastly, AltaMed was awarded the Winner of the Most Authentic costume at the Epic Fair ( 😉 ) and we even got the ribbons to prove it. I also completed my first stint as an Uber driver and am still awaiting my 5 star review.
