Kaiser Permanente Medicare member Tom D. has spent his whole career in health care. Value-based care? He’s an expert. Prevention? He gets it. So when he learned about Bold through his benefits, he was intrigued. Here was something he could do from home and easily add to his existing routine. Since joining, Tom has built his balance in ways he’d never anticipated, inspired by the welcoming community of expert trainers. “The instructors tend to draw you in," Tom says. "It’s really cool — they encourage you during the class." Tom’s Bold story shows that fall prevention doesn’t have to feel like a chore. It can be educational, challenging — even fun. That’s the approach that today’s leading plans are taking on one of the toughest Stars challenges in Medicare Advantage. https://lnkd.in/e7hCwSV2

You’re back in seat, your calendar is filling up with 1-on-1s, and twenty different vendors are circling back with updated timelines and asks for meetings. And… breathe. January is about getting off on a strong note. That means focusing on the ‘big rocks’ on your To Do list — the strategic priorities that, if you execute, your members, colleagues, and providers will really feel the impact. For many Stars leaders, that means the Health Outcomes Survey (HOS), which sits in the middle of so much change in Medicare Advantage today. As the Proposed Rule made clear, MA is evolving to focus more on clinical outcomes and patients’ experience of care — and HOS measures are right at the center of the shift. You’ve got this. We’ve put together our best tips on tackling the HOS here:

Star leaders were out in full force at the RISE Star Ratings Master Class this week bringing the insights, learnings, and holiday cheer to Frisco, Texas. Here are just a few of the takeaways we’re carrying with us into the new year: 🌶️ HOS is heating up. With triple-weighted measures next year and HOS growing to 15% of overall Stars, the HOS is on every Quality leader's mind as a growing priority. The challenge is moving away from just-in-time interventions to holistic, year-round, data-driven HOS strategies to improve members’ perceptions of overall health. 🩺 Connecting the dots between Clinical and Stars teams is not optional. Providers were on everyone’s lips, and rightfully so - Stars leaders emphasized the multiplier effect of deeper collaboration with Clinical leadership, shared accountability to tie Star Ratings to clinical outcomes, and concrete strategies for regular partnership, trainings, and data deep dives with provider networks. ⏳ The 54 week countdown for 2027 Stars changes is on. Jessica Assefa, Ana Handshuh, CHC, and Melissa Newton Smith reminded us that 54 weeks is all the time we have until most of the 2027 Medicare Advantage and Part D proposed changes go into effect. That is a blip in time in Stars land, so buttoning up strategies to drive wins and accelerating key decisions need to happen now. If you missed meeting the Bold team in-person, reach out - we’d love to connect on all things HOS, unlocking member engagement, and lowering total cost of care!

Today the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services is convening leaders from across health care to discuss the new ACCESS model and how digital health companies can contribute to improving life for seniors with chronic conditions. Bold is proud to be in attendance, represented by our co-founder and CEO Amanda Rees. ACCESS tests an outcomes-aligned payment model for Original Medicare members. Rather than paying for each individual test or treatment a member might receive, organizations that participate in the ACCESS model will be incentivized to deliver measurable improvements in Medicare members’ health. The model prioritizes prevention, ongoing engagement, and evidence-based lifestyle interventions, like regular physical activity and healthy nutrition, that have underpinned the Bold care model from day one. From our beginnings, Bold has been building for the 98% of seniors who suffer from one or more chronic conditions. We are encouraged by CMS’ efforts to expand access to innovative services that are grounded in rock-solid evidence and built for the way seniors live now, all while protecting the American taxpayer with a value-based approach.
