Happy Friday! This is your reminder, and mine too, that you are enough. Exactly as you are, right now, today. Not enough because of what you got done this week, or how many boxes you checked. Just enough, simply because you’re here, trying. I know how easy it is to feel like rest and peace have to be earned. They don’t. You don’t have to prove anything to deserve grace, or a moment to breathe. To anyone carrying more than they’re letting on: I see you. You are still enough.💚 Active Minds, Inc. Our Campus Lifeline Act has been introduced to the Senate and youth advocates led the way! We now have our bill in both chambers! Just weeks after our inaugural Hill Day + Conference, where nearly 200 youth and young adult mental health advocates from across the nation came together on Capitol Hill, our Campus Lifeline Act has been introduced to the Senate with co-sponsors Senators Senator Tim Kaine (D-VA), David McCormick (R-PA), Maggie Hassan (D-NH), and Pete Ricketts (R-NE). This bipartisan and bicameral effort is one built on years of dedication and a generation of young people with a mission. Mental health advocacy is more than awareness – it’s action. The Campus Lifeline Act was born a decade ago as a student-led idea from an Active Minds Chapter at the University of Dayton. After years of development and support from our network it’s been given life on the federal level as a bill in both the House and the Senate with bipartisan support. The Campus Lifeline Act: 🪪 Moves to make putting 988, the national suicide and crisis hotline, on the back of all student ID cards in k-12. 💪 Calls for access to crisis services to be complemented by youth prevention and early intervention services. With the additional requirement of GLS Campus applicants to seek input from students and student-led mental health groups on campus it enhances the grants ability to reach students in need of support. This more than a moment. It's a movement. Take action by calling your legislators in congress today to show support for The Campus Lifeline Act – policy for youth and young adults made by youth and young adults. 72% of schools can’t access professional mental health resources due to limited funding. With support from Google, we’re changing that by bringing expert-led mental health resources, tools, and experiential programming where they are needed most, regardless of disparities and limited funding. "Active Minds has provided a vital platform for engaging our student body in the importance of self-care and supporting one another." This week, Active Minds, Inc. reached a historic milestone with its inaugural Hill Day, bringing hundreds of young mental health advocates to Capitol Hill to champion stronger mental health policies. In this conversation, Active Minds Founder & CEO Alison Malmon reflects on how the organization's policy work took root in Ohio with early support from Peg's. Today, we're inspired to see that work reaching the national stage as young leaders continue to shape the future of mental health policy. That's what it means to #ThinkBigger: investing in people, partnerships, and bold ideas that build the kind of influence capable of shaping national movements. #MentalHealthPolicy #SystemsChange Rick Kellar
