For over a decade at Geita Gold Mine, Esther has worked in resource modelling, transforming geological data into insights that inform operational planning and long term investment decisions.
Early in her journey, she was often the only woman in senior technical meetings. She built credibility through pertormance and consistency, demonstrating that leadership in mining is strengthened when diverse perspectives are present and supported.
Recently graduating from the Association of Tanzanian Employer’s 2026 Female Future Tanzania cohort, her development reflects AngloGold Ashanti Tanzania commitment to investment in people, strengthening inclusive leadership pipelines and creating meaningful pathways for progression.

Our investment in new physics and biology laboratories at Lwezera Secondary School in Geita is helping create better opportunities for students to learn, grow and succeed.
Built to support practical science education, the new facilities will give more students, especially girls, the confidence to pursue science, technology, engineering and mathematics \(STEM\). By creating a stronger learning environment, the project helps students see clearer pathways to careers in science, innovation and healthcare.
This investment reflects our commitment to quality education and contributes to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 4 \(Quality Education\) and SDG 8 \(Decent Work and Economic Growth\).

A top employer
Geita mine employs close to 7,000 people both directly and through contractors of which about 98% are Tanzanian nationals. Geita mine is recognised by the Government as one of the country’s best employers.
Community projects
In Tanzania, community development is one of the material issues to which we are committed. The Geita mine was the first in the country to execute its Corporate Social Responsibility Plan as per the amended Mining Act of 2017.
Driving local business
It is our strategic imperative to procure all goods and services locally. Geita was awarded 1st runner-up in local business content in 2020 with 86% of total procurement spent locally within Tanzania last year.
