At Gamescom Opening Night Live, developer RedOctane Games finally announced the release date for Stage Tour, an upcoming rhythm title heavily inspired by classic music games like Guitar Hero and Rock Band. In its latest trailer, Stage Tour confirmed a December 10, 2026 release date.
Originally founded in the 1990s, RedOctane is likely best known for its work on the Guitar Hero franchise, with the company teaming up with Harmonix and then Neversoft to produce the first few entries in the beloved rhythm game series. In 2010, Activision closed down RedOctane, but the studio was revived in August 2025 by former RedOctane developers, some of whom worked on the very first Guitar Hero. The studio's first new project since Guitar Hero World Tour, fittingly titled Stage Tour, was announced this February.

This set list includes songs from Motley Crue, Paramore, Radiohead, Olivia Rodrigo, Babymetal, and Fall Out Boy, to name just a few.

This most recent Stage Tour trailer also teased a few gameplay features coming to the game upon its December 10 release date. A total of five game modes are now confirmed for Stage Tour, those being Quickplay, Practice, Judgements, Karaoke, and Tour Mode. It's this last mode that'll likely catch the attention of long-time Guitar Hero fans, with Stage Tour's Tour Mode offering an all-new roguelite experience that sees players choosing bandmates and working their way through a series of different gigs that produce unique outcomes.
Stage Tour's latest trailer also gave fans a brief look at some of the in-game customization that will be available on day one. Over 180 authentic, licensed guitars from companies like Gibson and Epiphone will be unlockable and equipable in Stage Tour, as will a roster of over 50 bandmates and their accompanying clothing options and accessories.
