After a two-week break due to Eiichiro Oda's visit to South Africa to oversee parts of the One Piece Live Action, the One Piece manga is officially set to make a comeback on the upcoming weekend. One Piece Chapter 1185 is now just around the corner and is ready to continue the Esperia Kingdom flashback on June 14, 2026, in Weekly Shonen Jump Issue #29, focusing on the story of Brook, Reuven, Shuri, and Candelle. These are the main characters of this exciting flashback, and we cannot wait to see what direction Eiichiro Oda will take the story in.
With a lot of focus having been thrown on Brook's connection to King Reuven in the previous chapter, it is highly likely that the story will continue on a similar path and showcase how they grew closer before the eventual death of King Reuven at the hands of Shuri.
Brook's Connection To Reuven Will Finally Be Explored
One Piece chapter 1185 will likely pick things up right from where they left off previously. Brook, after being tortured by the Navy, is now officially a part of King Reuven's very own unit and is going to be raised by him from here onward. This explains why Brook was indebted to King Reuven and why he believed he owed everything that he had in life to him. This also explains how, later down the line, Brook ends up as the guardian of Shuri, since Candelle ends up marrying Reuven for a rather mysterious reason. Brook also becomes the one who raises Shuri and acts as her father figure.
“Crows and Frogs and Slaves and Kings! We're all bones when we die! We're all Bones when we die!” — Brook, One Piece Chapter #1184
King Reuven has already done a significant lot for Brook; however, it must be said that there is still a lot more that Eiichiro Oda could showcase about their relationship in the upcoming two chapters. One Piece Chapter 1185 could thus expand upon the connection between King Reuven and Brook, especially since their bond is only starting to build. It is also unclear as to whom King Reuven faces a threat from. In the previous chapters, Candelle stated that Reuven cannot expose his identity openly due to mysterious reasons. As to what kind of threat he faces remains to be seen, and One Piece Chapter 1185 could potentially expand more upon this and explain why Nerona Imu and the Holy Knights eventually get tangled with the Esperia Kingdom and pave the way for its destruction.

Candelle's Connection To The Holy Knights Is Revealed in One Piece 1185
When Queen Candelle was first revealed in the Esperia kingdom flashback, it became immediately clear that she had ulterior motives. The fact that she wore clothing very similar to the Holy Knights, had a similar sword at her belt, and, most importantly, used the exact same words as Sommers implied that she was already in the mix with the Government.
“I am your trusted hidden blade, your grace!” — Candelle repeats the same words as Saint Sommers, One Piece Chapter #1184
One Piece chapter 1185 could potentially expose her for the very first time and, in doing so, set the stage for the finale of this grand flashback. Candelle has been a very important character in this entire short Esperia run, and her role is going to be upgraded significantly as she is likely to marry King Reuven, give birth to Princess Shuri, and then execute whatever plan Imu gave her. This chapter could also explain why Brook never considered himself to be indebted to Candelle and why he only has sweet memories of Shuri as a kid and King Reuven.
The biggest question that One Piece Chapter 1185 could give us an answer to is why Nerona Imu and Candelle even got tangled up with Esperia in the first place. It isn't out of the ordinary for Celestial Dragons to pick certain countries in order to hold events such as the Native Hunting Competition. However, the issue with Esperia runs deeper, with Candelle having been there for what seems to be decades. This appears to be a very deep infiltration mission by the Holy Knights for mysterious reasons, and Eiichiro Oda could shed light on that in this week's chapter, which is something we're all eagerly waiting to see.

Chapter 1185 Finally Shows The Death of King Reuben in Esperia
The entire Esperia Kingdom flashback is likely going to be much shorter than fans expected. Eiichiro Oda has already delivered a massive flashback in the Elbaf Arc with Loki, which is also the longest in the entire story. It is highly unlikely for the Brook and Shuri flashback to last for more than a couple of chapters. As such, fans should expect a significant timeskip in One Piece Chapter 1185, as well as in the subsequent chapters.
"I never wanted to think of you, for the rest of my life! Not the father-killing princess!! The life you stole away belonged to the man whom I owed everything to!" — Brook to Shuri, One Piece Chapter #1173
Most importantly, this chapter could potentially show us how King Reuven officially died. Chapter 1185 might show the birth of Shuri as well as her growth. It could also then likely take us back to the timeline before Brook's flashback as a child began. The plan executed by Queen Candelle could also be shown, and the introduction of the Holy Knights could be showcased in the chapter as well. With that, One Piece Chapter 1185 could potentially set up the death of King Reuven. It is highly unlikely for this chapter to completely end the flashback, but at its very end, King Reuven could finally die, and the mystery of how Shuri killed him will be solved as well.
One Piece 1185 Could Finally Redeem Princess Shuri
It is highly likely that Shuri was given birth to as a vessel by Candelle, in which case, Imu could potentially go on to possess her and then execute the master plan of killing King Reuven for whatever reason. If King Reuven does die in One Piece Chapter 1185, then it will take us significantly closer to the end of the Esperia Kingdom flashback. It must be remembered that Brook already stated that after Shuri killed Reuven, she headed off to the Holy Land of Marijoa, and that is when he lost contact with her. This is also likely when the Esperia Kingdom was completely destroyed, and Brook went his own way, which led to him eventually joining hands with the Rumbar Pirates and becoming a pirate who sails the seas on his own.
The next few chapters are going to be significant for the characters of Brook and Shuri and will finally chart the pathway for what Oda intends to do with the character of Shuri, who currently stands as a potential Straw Hat candidate as well. One Piece's next few chapters are going to be incredibly exciting in that sense, before we head back to the high-intensity action that is currently unfolding in Elbaf with the introduction of Nerona Imu as well as the newly powered Holy Knights.
