A renowned Destiny 2 content creator is officially retiring in August, with a final video going live on August 18, before the YouTuber fully moves on to a different game. Destiny 2 has unfortunately met its end on June 9, when the final update for the game, called Monument of Triumph, was released. Bungie announced that Destiny 2 would face end-of-service on May 21, and that the unreleased Shattered Cycle expansion would not come out, like any other future live-service update.
Since the game is no longer receiving updates, not even bug fixes unless they're major, game-breaking issues, this is the final state of Destiny 2. This has its perks, such as how Destiny 2 players can solo AFK farm a Dungeon Boss by using just one ability, so those looking for some good gear can easily get it. The other side of this is how Bungie decided to disable two armor sets permanently due to the issues they were causing in the Crucible, leading to unfair, unplayable matches.

The content creator announced both on YouTube and social media that the DattoDoesDestiny channel will see a final upload on August 18, after which Datto will move on to play Deadlock instead. The YouTuber stated that there could be more uploads on the DattoDoesDestiny channel in the future, but after August 18, fans shouldn't expect any major new content. Still, the channel will remain active for fans to rewatch old videos whenever they want, but Datto's future is now with Deadlock. Destiny 2's final update brought a surge in player numbers, but even with a daily average of around 50,000 players and no new content ever, it's natural that Datto will want to start building a future elsewhere as a content creator.

Datto is widely recognized as one of the most popular Destiny 2 content creators ever, and even became the one with the most subscribers on YouTube. Over the years, the community has always been very fond of the YouTuber for the sensible, honest takes on the game, as well as occasional builds and funny videos. Another popular segment introduced by Datto is "Vault Cleaning," which the content creator did with multiple other YouTubers and Destiny 2 creators. This is because Destiny 2's Vault space has always been an issue, so this type of video also had some good tips to follow.
With over 1.2 million subscribers on YouTube, Datto will be missed by the community, as the comments under the announcement show just as much. Some fans joke that the content creator should rename the channel to "Datto Did Destiny" as a joke, but the format remains on the YouTuber's second channel, called DattoDoesDeadlock. Though Destiny 2 has met its demise, the official Destiny 3 petition has reached over 400,000 unique signatures, sparking hope among fans.
Now that the game is in maintenance mode, or arguably not even that, fans have very limited new content to play with. Still, for those looking for new challenges, Destiny 2 players can farm the Last Wish Raid completely solo with a new glitch that allows Queenswalk solo with a specific setup.
