About Matthew Schomer
Matthew is a news and features editor at DualShockers, as well as a video producer and trainer for all incoming News and Features writers. He holds a Bachelor's in journalism from Kent State University and has been an avid gamer since 1985.
Prior to entering the world of electronic entertainment, he was a reporter for multiple rural Ohio newspapers, most notably The Salem News and the Morning Journal (Lisbon), specializing in state and local politics, law, education, and human interest.
On the side, he also writes interview pieces and fantasy fiction for OBPMusical.com, mostly for The Karsis Khryer newsletter under the gnomish pseudonym Quint QuickQuill.
Industry Focus
I write and edit all manner of News and Features articles pertaining to video games and their crossovers into the realms of television and movies. I also make video versions of our top-read guides, as well as list and games review videos.
When I'm not writing, you can usually find me behind my computer monitor, Xbox Series X, or Nintendo Switch, deeply invested in a lore-heavy RPG or wrestling game.
Favorite Games and Genres
I'm a big fan or RPGs new and old. Some of my favorites include Suikoden 3, Baldur's Gate 3, Fallout 2, Fallout: New Vegas, and Knights of the Old Republic. When I'm looking for something a little less story-heavy, you can probably find me playing the latest WWE2k game or some pre-Madden football.
First Game Console and Preferred Platforms
I first got into gaming on the Intellivision back in 1985. Since then, I've owned almost every console released by Nintendo, Microsoft, and Sony, though I'm currently leaning toward the Xbox Series X as my go-to gaming device.
