There was lots of excitement earlier this week when Helldivers II developer, Arrowhead, announced its first-ever crossover, which would feature cosmetics and items from Guerilla's Killzone 2. That excitement quickly waned, however, when players hopped on to Helldivers II and found that the DLC was priced at a whopping $20.

The cosmetics came in a set of separate individual purchases through in-game currency that requires actual monetary purchase to acquire. The whole set totals out to $20, a far steeper price than the game's usual pricing of in-game cosmetics and items. The backlash was so swift and intense, however, that Arrowhead has gone ahead and tried to right their wrongs.

The Killzone 2 Crossover Set Is the Planned First of Two, And the Second Will Now Be Free as an Apology From Arrowhead

Arrowhead Has Taken Full Responsibility for this Blunder and Aims to Make Things Right

While players were quick to accuse Sony of the high cost, Arrowhead's CEO, Shams Jorjani, jumped in to take the blame, stating in a Discord message "This one's on us." Their response has been swift, taking player's feedback into account and looking to gain back the trust of their enormous community. The second planned set for the DLC was slated to drop Dec. 23 but instead is now available to players, free of charge.

While the initial first set will maintain its price, Arrowhead is extending its time in the Superstore from five days to ten days, as well as looking into ways to make it a permanent fixture in the store in the future, so everyone gets a chance to obtain it. While players were initially outraged by this pricing, Arrowhead has gone out of their way to right their wrongs, as their steadfast support for their massively popular live-service game has been key to its success.
