Citrix HTML5

Good morning, 

Asking here, as i find a lot of different info on the net. 

We run a hybrid solution of enduser devices, both windows and Chromebooks. 

Now, the problem is that we have certain apps that is different on Chrome and Windows, like the Citrix workspace. 

To make it more symmetric, we are thinking about the Citrixc HTML5 as an alternative, that would let veryone use the same app, and remove the confusion that occurs when users log inot windows and get teh Citrix app fir noth chrome and windows on their device. 

Do anyone have any experience with the HTML version? I read a lot about some serious limitations in certain features like video / audio, support for multiple screens etc? :)

      Hi Gjermund,
       

      In an enterprise setting I’d recommend the respective native apps over the HTML5.
      While it’s very capable (as per the CWA Feature Matrix), some important features like central management, BCR and Smart Cards are only available in the native clients. On managed ChromeOS you can also configure it to automatically launch if it’s the only or main use case.

      Are there any specific complaints or quirks that confuse the users?

        Hi 

        Issue occurs on Windows devices, where they get the app both for Chrome and Windows. Then the Chrome one can't be used, and that creates confusion. So yo recommend the native client, and if they use Windows, the app can't be prevented pushed to them if we want it to be pushed to Chromebooks, correct?

          I see, so it’s that users are used to opening the session through the website after logging in there.
          You can set the launch preference so that the installed CWAs are preferred, e.g. as in https://support.citrix.com/external/article/CTX221652
          With SSO etc. they should have a better experience that way.

          It sounds like you’re managing the Chrome browser on Windows as well. Note the CWA for ChromeOS is not designed to be used on browsers on other operating systems as it’s a ChromeApp. There’s a message on top of the WebStore page about that.

          Hello, 

          I think I am a bit unclear to what the issue here really is: 
          The issue with Citrix is that there are two shortcuts to Citrix on the Windows machines. When you search, the shortcut for the Chrome app appears at the top of the list, and when you click it, you just get an error message stating that Chrome apps are no longer supported.

          This in turn then confuses quite a few of the users, hence why I was wondering about HTML5. But unless you have a smart way  to hide the ChromeOS/Android app on Windows devices, I think thre is no way around it, if this made any sense? :)
