Some late May round ups: How High We Go in the Dark slipped into the Top Ten for April over at The Millions and Goodreads included How High in their "Hit Speculative Fiction of 2022 So far". :) 🚀🙏

I'm in the mood to watch Avatar: The Last Airbender (again), but I can't keep watching Avatar: The Last Airbender (AGAIN). Any suggestions for similar fantasy epics?

Me: I should branch out a little bit. Watch some new movies. Get some fresh inspiration. My brain: Watch How to Train Your Dragon. Me: I've already seen How to Train Your Dragon. My brain: ... Me: ... My brain *whispering*: ...again.

Is it bad that I still can't quite decide if I'm a plotter or a pantser?

I hear all about how pets are people's fuzzy writing buddies. All my cat wants to do is lay on my lap and keep me from writing. Can't say no to that face. ❤️

Decided to try my hand writing novels again. I've been working on short stories for so long that I'm itching to get back to longer works!

Me, a writer: today is going to be a very productive day of… housework while thinking about all the neglected writing projects I should be working on.

I've gotten back into listening to Marissa Meyer's "The Happy Writer" podcast, and I just...warm fuzzies. Everywhere. ☺️

Now that I've turned in my MFA thesis, I've got to decide what to write on the next coffee shop trip. 🤔

Still so amazed that the illustration by Hope Christofferson for "Spectacle" (an image from my story!) was chosen for the cover art.

I often stare in awe at the wonderful illustrations for "Spectacle" that Hope Christofferson created. So lovely!

I just want to point out the other two amazing stories that appear in Issue 80, Annie Borelli's "Snare a Moon" and Grace Taber's "Market Day." I'm so excited that "Spectacle" gets to be featured alongside these wonderful stories. 😍

Last week, I turned in my MFA thesis, at long last. 🥳 It was a difficult writing journey but super fun and extremely rewarding! Looking forward to my last residency this summer.

So, after rearranging my bookshelves to make room for those book sale steals, I have once again come face to face with a horrifying truth: I have too many books, and it's become a problem. Don't let me buy any more until I've read the ones I have.🥲

Library book sales are the best, I got like 10 books for under $20.

My writing chair is super comfy and perfect and all, but my cat also knows this and has dubbed it the napping chair for now until the end of time.
