Thriving, Not Just Surviving in the ‘New Normal.’

The Corona pandemic has hit us from the left field, and in less than a month, has changed the global landscape and lifestyle. The way we work, school, socialize/communicate, travel, run our homes — everything transformed very quickly. Hence the coinage of the new term — the new normal.

I will admit that adjusting to this new normal amidst all the uncertainty and panic is not easy. One, because it is a ‘first of a kind’ crisis, and no one has a ‘right way’ of working with it and navigating it. Second, the nature…

I am writing this in the seventh week of the Corona quarantine. The ‘stay at home’ orders have been extended until the end of May in California. Life is disrupted. The way we work has changed completely, and the workloads at home have hit a new high with not-so-clear rules of delegation for apparent reasons.

The kids are almost finishing up school using virtual technology as we inch closer to the Summer. The toddlers are eagerly waiting for their short, evening bike rides around the house. The old members of the family are happy to get some sun in the morning in…

The trifecta that will propel us forward, keep us relevant, and give purpose to our actions for the next 30 years

I had written about this topic a few years ago. It was more in the context of how we can nurture our human and creative faculties daily to ensure an edge when the robots become a reality. I had also talked about how creative intelligence would come to our rescue in the machine -intelligence — driven era. This topic is back again, timed co-incidentally around Women’s Day to stress on an urgent need not just to think, write, speak…

It’s resolutions time! All of us got our laundry list of ‘tidying up our act’ ready as the clock struck Jan 1, 2018. There’s some grim news though while we get ready to conquer the world. I learned from a good friend’s blog that according to stats, only 9% succeed in achieving their new year goals. So, in investigating the why, it seems like a few quick mind hacks could help us immensely to be in this ‘high-performing’ group of 9%.

2017 — Early Lessons from Salads

We recently did a salad drive/contest in our CBG group, and we picked the month of December (that’s right) to make at least one meal a salad for 31 days. We had to post a picture of our creative salad in the group, and if we missed, we owed $5, and that pool of money would go towards our celebration in January.

We all started pretty well with a lot of resolve to make this happen. It was quite easy to pull it off the first two weeks when we were at work with the group, sort of…

Project Vert et Bleu — The Unplugged French Connection

It has been raining and pouring this season here in California, and that has officially got us out of the drought! That powerful force has transformed the landscape big time — from brown to green and lush green.

The woods, the meadows, the hills and the lakes tell a fresh, new story and are a canvas for every artist. I started exploring and breathing this green, as it happened and that was the inspiration for Project Vert and Bleu.

Project Vert et Bleu (Project Green and Blue) captures all this immaculate…

Disclaimer — this blog is not written with the intention to ruffle any feathers. It might also not cover all the evolution of men and women extensively, sort of making it seem like it is coming from naïveté or a partially educated stream. But this is a quick attempt at understanding evolution, intelligence and the survival of the fittest syndrome. And this is an attempt to persuade readers to ‘think beyond’ just men and women to ‘human’ as a race collectively. We might see better and bigger patterns of progress if we start there, perhaps? Of course, only after knowing the facts and limitations fully well.

All Things Equal… Or Not?

You guys are probably reading a lot of ‘literature’ on it this week, considering that we just celebrated this day. Women around the world are feeling immensely important, tagging themselves, sharing infographics and quotes from other great ‘women’ and men leaders. I understand and respect that each one of us has achieved and excelled despite several adversities, please don’t get me wrong.

But, here’s a fundamental question — by saying that we need a day to celebrate us, are we not accepting that we need special attention and treatment? And if we’re saying that we do indeed need special attention…
