The telescope extended our view beyond the world. The printing press extended our access to knowledge. The computer extended our ability to create. Each innovation launched a revolution. Together, they chronicle an evolution of humanity.
As we move forward as an institution, we do so as part of a world in the midst of a technological revolution. Great opportunities and great challenges have arisen on a scale never seen before. The decisions we make about our technology today will determine the direction of our world tomorrow. Conversations need to balance creativity and innovation with ethics and principles, history and insights with future implications and possibilities. We must ask not only what it means, but what can we do?
At CHM, we decode technology for individuals, communities, and humanity. From the heart of Silicon Valley, we share insights gleaned from our research, our events, and our incomparable collection of computing artifacts and oral histories to convene, inform, and inspire people to build a better world.
I invite you to join us as we explore this revolution and realize our chance to make our mark—to lead humanity forward.

CHM is a community of makers and users, educators and learners, founders and innovators, dreamers and go-getters. We are supported by a network of staff, partners, volunteers, pioneers, and visionaries in Silicon Valley and around the world.
By 2022 we will build the foundation for and reimagine CHM to engage millions of people around the world to leverage technology for positive social impact.
From our founding in Boston to our home in Silicon Valley, CHM’s journey is as extraordinary as the history we preserve and the technological innovations that have transformed our world.
