I'm sick of the term UX. It's completely meaningless.

Coda: everyone can be a dick (especially Mark, but also me). Give people a chance to redeem themselves, and if they don't: call them out on their dickification. Try not to be a dick, but if you're going to be a dick, be a dick only to dicks. Be a meta-dick. And use alt text.

Denouements are most gratifying when they're anticipated, in my opinion.

I am blocked from following Mark or reading Mark's tweets.

Little reminder here, when he forgets to add alternative text again. I include examples of alternative text applied to screenshots from this thread (bit meta that, sorry).

Tweet with multiple screenshots of our previous conversations. Tweet reads: We agreed the other day you would provide alt text? And not rely on others to do it for you? Here are a few examples to get you started. Cheers.

    Okay, then, let's see.

I reply Okay, understood. I look forward to your creative alt texts! Thank you for listening.

He assures me my assumption is correct (I already know it isn't because I've met people like Mark before). There is an astonishingly dickesque quality to this simple two word reply. I can't prove it, but he immediately folded his arms after writing it.

His tweet simply reads, Good assumption.

I send two replies. I want him to know how to actually activate alternative text. But I also want him to know that his attitude towards me, and the accessibility community on Twitter in general, is out of order.

The first tweet reads: I don't follow. This is why you don't what? In any case, you can activate image description fields under Settings > Accessibility. A problem already solved ✌️
The second tweet reads: I'm assuming you don't mean "I don't bother because someone else will do it for me" because that would be hugely entitled and lazy.

"This is why I don't" he says. The implication is that he doesn't have to do it because some sucker like me will do it for him. He even provides an image without alt text. Exactly the sort of dicktacular behavior that should have been taught out of Mark in childhood.

But, instead, he replies with this:

His tweet reads "why I don't" and he cc's Twitter Support. The image included, of a man wearing a tie and pointing to camera, reads "Modern problems require modern solutions".

A grown-up / reasonable response would have been something along the lines of "I should really try harder at that" or "I wasn't aware I could do that, sorry". Nobody is perfect, and I'm not someone who would expect everyone to be aware/good at this stuff off the bat.

I can't see the original meme because blocked me (← dramatic irony). But not immediately. Here is my original reply, providing alternative text for him as an example.

My tweet to Mark reads: Please use an image description for the blind.
alt text = the power rangers Webpack, Babel, Typescript, React, and Emotion combine to form A static blog with 3 posts

Thread: Here's what happened when I asked to add alternative text to his Twitter memes. Not to preempt my conceit too much, but he was a total dickface.

Okay, that's it. No more engaging in right wing crap on Twitter. My engagement, no matter how negative, is counted as endorsement by advertising algorithms.
