Campus Life
At NC State, experience is education. You’ll learn the skills of your field in classrooms, labs, internships and co-ops, and you’ll develop talents, passions and lifelong bonds as part of our Wolfpack community.
Thinking and Doing
With more than 600 student organizations on campus, you can experience it all: running a daily newspaper, deejaying for one of the nation’s top college radio stations, building robots, exploring improv comedy or dance and much, much more. Whatever your area of interest, be it political, professional, social, ethnic or academic, there’s a student organization for you.
The hub for our student activities is the new Talley Student Union, a state-of-the-art foundation for student life. Combined with the tradition of our hallowed places, NC State is a place where community comes alive and students truly think and do.
Sports and Recreation
In sports, the final score isn’t the only important number. Try these figures on for size: 70 intramural and club sports programs, 23 Division I varsity teams and two recreation complexes encompassing 350,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor fitness space. That’s not to mention an Outdoor Adventure program that puts North Carolina’s mountains and waterways at your disposal.
Whether you’re a fan in the stands, a player on the field or a student looking for a good workout, NC State has a varsity team, intramural/club sports program or facility for you.
The newly renovated Carmichael Gymnasium is the hub of campus sports and recreation.
Community Service
Service is part of our DNA at NC State. As a land-grant university, we were founded to help create a better world. From the Krispy Kreme Challenge, to Alternative Service Break trips, to the Feed the Pack food pantry, our students serve those in need on campus, across North Carolina and around the globe. Our students’ commitment to service is a key reason NC State made the 2012 President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll, the highest service-related honor bestowed on a college or university by the White House.
Arts and Activities
NC State is a place for thinking and doing. That’s as true in galleries and on stage as it is in classrooms and laboratories. With hundreds of year-round arts programs and other activities for students and faculty, actors, singers, sculptors, painters, woodworkers and DIYers can have the tools and facilities to bring their ideas to life, as well as a supportive community of fellow creators.
Housing
NC State offers students housing options that range from traditional residence hall living to campus-based village communities to on- and off-campus apartment complexes owned and operated by the university for upperclassmen and graduate student residents.
Our residence halls are living-and-learning centers equipped with state-of-the-art technology. In our Living and Learning Villages — residence hall communities devoted to students who share similar academic, personal or lifestyle interests — you’ll live and learn with a ready-made group of peers who share your values, priorities and interests.
University apartment complexes include Wolf Village, Western Manor and the all-new Wolf Ridge on Centennial Campus, plus E.S. King Village — an apartment community that serves NC State’s married, graduate and nontraditional undergraduate population.
Dining
NC State Dining has options to fit every appetite and palate, from vegan and international cuisine to fresh-baked pastries and coffee-shop fare. On campus, you’ll find quick-service eateries, all-you-can eat dining halls, familiar fast-food chains, specialty cafes, coffee bars and even food trucks.
We believe food should be healthy, sustainable and tasty. Registered dietitians help plan meals, and NC State Dining was recently rated a national leader for healthy eating. More than a quarter of the food served in our dining halls comes from North Carolina.
Health and Safety
Your health and safety are among the most important factors in your success at NC State. We offer a full-service, nationally recognized student health center to support your physical and mental health, and we’re committed to building a safe, secure campus environment.
