Most people looking for Founders Associate roles are searching in the wrong places. I've had 4 or 5 calls this year already where people interested in exploring these roles were introduced to me. Here's my 2 pence: It may not be right for everyone. If you're further along in your career, you'll probably take a step back in salary or "job title ego" but your growth will far surpass what you'd achieve on the corp ladder. Worth noting: pre-seed/seed startups operate differently to Series A+ companies. Know what you're walking into. Here's what actually works: 1. Go direct to solo founders They're drowning in work and need a generalist yesterday. DM them. Show you can unblock things. Skip the formal job posts. 2. Chat with StartUp embedded recruiters or accelerators. Places like Jumpstart live and breathe these placements. They know which founders are hiring before anyone else. I went via Will Boss on the off chance he had someone in his network that was interested! He read the room and placed the introduction to Karen Harris 3. Build in public Comment on founder posts. Make it obvious you understand the chaos and can thrive in it. Ask them for advice. Go straight to the well! 4. Prototype solutions with AI Ask about a real problem they're facing. Build a quick prototype or framework using AI tools, it's never been easier. Lovable, Google AI Studio or Anthropic would be my tool kit. Show them you can ship, not just think. They'll see you're a builder. The role doesn't exist on most job boards because founders hire who's already in the room. Be in the room.

You don’t need the perfect role. You need a role that compounds your skills. If you’re waiting for that perfect role, here’s what’s happening: 😕 You’re optimising for comfort 😕 You’re avoiding a bet 😕 You’re outsourcing identity to a job title A better approach: Pick a role that gives you: 1. a steep learning curve 💪 2. real ownership 💪 3. credible proof you can reuse (building a marketing funnel from scratch, pitching investors) 💪 💪 Perfection is not a strategy, but momentum is. What’s one constraint you could choose (industry, role type, company stage) that would make your search easier? Let me know below! 🤔 And if you want that search to become much easier, Jumpstart is your one stop shop for demystifying the startup world, giving you access to a whole host of Generalist/ Marketing roles with in-depth video pitches and job descriptions. If you’re a woman looking to break into the tech, or AI space? What’s stopping you? We’re hiring across Generalist, Sales, Marketing and Commercial roles in high-growth, high-impact startups. 🚀 APPLY NOW 👉 https://lnkd.in/g__rBWVF

𝟴𝟱+ 𝘄𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻. 𝟭𝟴 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗺𝘀. 𝗔 𝗳𝗲𝘄 𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱. 𝗠𝘆 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗰𝗮𝗺𝗲 𝟭𝘀𝘁 𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗟𝗼𝘃𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝘅 𝗩𝗘𝗘𝗗 𝗔𝗜 𝗛𝗮𝗰𝗸𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗻. 💚🏆 I attended the VEED x Lovable AI Hackathon on my own, having never hacked before, and left part of the winning team. ↴ Once we had chosen our hackathon challenge, we had just 2 hours to build, market, and demo before the judging panel. Within 20 minutes we went from strangers to locked into an idea and building. We took on the brief: “𝗣𝗿𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗻𝗲𝘅𝘁 𝗯𝗶𝗴 𝘀𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗳𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗮𝗽𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝘁.” ↴ Our demo was 𝗡𝗲𝗯𝘂𝗹𝗮. 𝗡𝗲𝗯𝘂𝗹𝗮 is an 𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗰, 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗰𝗵𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗳𝗲𝗺𝗮𝗹𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀, cofounders, operators, and investors. It connects you before you even realise you need each other. ↴ Why this social shift? In 2020, only 𝟭𝟮% 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗲𝗰𝗵 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗽𝘀 were founded by women. By 2026, that’s risen to 𝟯𝟭%, and Forbes predicts 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗳 𝗼𝗳 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗽𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗯𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗱 𝗯𝘆 𝘄𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻. ↴ It’s clear the future is female founded. And we won 1st place. 💚🏆 I’m incredibly grateful to build with such talented women. Nebula moved as one collaborative unit- the whole team was fully in and built-off each other the whole way. ↴ Female entrepreneurship still faces real barriers in 2026, especially around access to the right people, rooms, and capital, with a teeny-tiny slice of VC funding going to female founders (>4%). ↴ Nebula is the kind of product that could shift that. Huge thanks to Lisa Vecchio, Grace Greer, Arev Danielyan, and Georgie Kemp for organising and judging, and to the wider VEED team for letting us invade your offices. Thanks also to everyone who pitched and heard our demo. Couldn’t think of a better way to spend a Tuesday evening in IWD month, building something important for women. Lovable, thank you for celebrating female builders properly and for 6 months of Lovable Pro. Can’t wait to put my credits to work. If you want to check out what we built, you can view it here: https://lnkd.in/ePYD7v5r Team Nebula 🎆: Olya Zelenko, Anousheh Arif, Nicole Georgiou, Liza Buriak, Srijla Bagai --- 🌀Hey I’m Rachel - I talk about growth, startups and marketing. 🔂 Repost this if you like it. ➕Follow me to hear more on startups, content and brand.

Possibly founders' FAVOURITE hobby: moving the goalposts. Whenever I speak to other founders, I notice how quickly success gets redefined. Whatever milestone they’ve just hit becomes their new baseline - and the bar moves up again. Like the Hydra - you lop off one head and another two grow back. I caught myself doing exactly the same a few weeks ago. Seb Johnson 📊🇪🇺 Johnson said some nice things about Jumpstart in a post (see screenshot). My immediate reaction was to move past it: “okay, but what’s next?” Then the comments started coming in. Founders. Candidates. People we’ve worked with over the past few years. For example... Sergei T. Benedict May Aurelia Budiono Max Curtis Tom Savage Arthur Colquhoun Charlotte Rowell David Gelberg Shiv Brodie Joe Seddon Tom Peters Freddie Hooper John Hughes Romil Depala Zoe Bassett Alan Walsh Helena Kazi ... and a number of others. All with positive words of appreciation. Easy to move straight on to the next thing. This made me pause - at least for a minute.

Founder’s Associate, Ops, and Commercial Associate can look similar on paper, but they build different muscles. ‘Generalist’ roles explained (in human terms): Founder’s Associate / Chief of Staff ⚙️ - You are the founder’s bandwidth. - Work: priority triage, special projects, decision support. - Best for 👉 learning speed + pattern recognition. Ops / Business Operations 🏃♂️➡️ - You make the business run. - Work: process, tooling, cross-team execution, metrics. - Best for 👉 systems thinking + ownership. Commercial / GTM Associate 🤑 - You help revenue happen. - Work: outbound, partnerships, pipeline, customer insight. - Best for 👉 persuasion + customer fluency. How to choose: - If you want proximity to leadership: Founder’s Associate - If you want to build durable operator skills: Operations - If you want a fast path to revenue roles (and have previous SDR experience): Commercial Associate If you’re considering a generalist path, which of these feels most like your strengths right now? Let me know in the comments below! PS: I'm hiring for our Generalist stream- we look for both fresh grads who've had a side hustle at uni for our entry level roles, and professional services/ consulting/ investment banking candidates for our more senior "switcher" roles. DM me for more info and to setup an initial consultation call! 📱 #hiring #jumpstart #foundersassociate #chiefofstaff #operations #commercialassociate

Moving away from founder-led sales is one of the hardest things a founder can do. Having someone who'd never made a real cold call come in to help? On paper, a recipe for disaster. Looking back, it's slightly mad that Matthew Sarre took a bet on me at all. But since stepping into sales at Jumpstart, I've heard the same thing on repeat: "SDR is the hardest job in sales." What a load of shite. Yes, the data can be bad. Yes, people find creative new ways to be rude to a 20-something-year-old kid. And yes, the sheer volume of sales gurus telling you to do it one way or another is relentless. Does it take resilience? Absolutely. Is it the hardest job in sales? Not even close. It's a simple role at its core - lots of nos, chasing the few yeses. And sometimes, even when you don't get the yes, you get a little bit of validation that we all so deeply crave ⬇️ Someone recently asked me "what would you have done differently" and I definitely have a long answer to that:  • Define ICP earlier  • Tier accounts properly   • Use Clay to surface data in one place  • Prioritise hiring signals   • Treat data as the be all and end all - pay for FullEnrich   • Get creative with touchpoints sooner All things I wish I'd done from the get-go. 𝗕𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲'𝘀 𝗮𝗹𝘀𝗼 𝗮 𝗺𝘂𝗰𝗵 𝘀𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲𝗿 𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻: Talk to people. Refine my offer. Repeat. Everything else just helps you do that better.

If you want proof that startups can compress a decade of experience into a few years, look at Jake Gregson. In 2021, fresh out of The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) and unsure what direction to take, Jake applied to Jumpstart’s Generalist stream. Raft had just raised their Series A and came onto the Jumpstart platform, and  hired Jake. Jake worked closely with Raft’s co-founders, Nisarg Mehta and James Coombes. He worked his *rse off, showed what he could do to the founders, which meant serious progression👇 Founder’s Associate → Associate Product Manager → Product Manager, in just over 3 years. Within two years he was managing two teams. How many people in their mid 20s are doing that in corporates?! Along the way he: 💰 Took near full ownership of a major customer 📢 Worked across commercial strategy and client communications 👔 Stepped into real management responsibility early At the same time, Raft has tripled in size and recently closed a $30m Series B. A lot of candidates compare corporate to startup salaries and think “I’ll take the former because it's a higher salary”  but what they miss is the potential and scope for progression you get. the best people optimise for where a role could lead, not just what it is today. If you think you could be another Jake, or you are building and want one, get in touch. #Jumpstart #Startups #Careers

Another fantastic candidate placed in a stellar startup 🔥 Nathaniel Galway, a fresh grad from The University of Leeds who came to Jumpstart's Generalist Stream with a whole host of consulting, IT and project management internship experience. What I loved about Nathaniel was his constant desire to better himself and get feedback on his interview style and his CV/ professional experience. 🤝 This ultimately would make him stand out on the platform and land a role as a Founders Associate with AutoGrab, an automotive-tech scale up that is rapidly expanding 🚓 The key takeaway here? A constant feedback loop = quicker time to offer. If you remain open to feedback and iterate quickly, you can really make yourself stand out on our platform! It's all in the way you package and position your experience. ✅ Top tip: review your professional experience through the lens of a business owner and try to translate your core skills into the potential impact your skills will have in X role, this is what Nathaniel did particularly well). Congratulations, Nathaniel! If you're looking for a Founders Associate or Chief of Staff role, DM me today to learn more about Jumpstart's generalist stream #job #hiring #jumpstart #foundersassociate #chiefofstaff
