Enterprise open source, secured and delivered by the publisher of Ubuntu.
About us
We deliver open source to the world faster, more securely and more cost effectively than any other company. We're also the publishers of Ubuntu, the world’s most popular enterprise Linux from cloud to edge, together with a passionate global community of 200,000+ contributors. Ubuntu means 'humanity to others'. We chose it because it embodies the generosity at the heart of open source, the new normal for platforms and innovation. Together with a community of 200,000, we publish an operating system that runs from the tiny connected devices up to the world's biggest mainframes, the platform that everybody uses on the public cloud, and the workstation experience of the world's most productive developers. Secure and reliable, elegant and intuitive, and open for innovation - this is the future of open source, which is why we're proud to be the developers of the fastest growing Linux in the world despite already being the most widely deployed. If you're interested in a career at Canonical, we are a remote-first company so please apply to any suitable role as skills are valued more than location, despite some having a preferred geographic preference. www.canonical.com

We recently joined Dell Technologies at the appliedAI Ecosystem Meetup in Munich to explore the key drivers of successful AI adoption. Together with Mark Lewis, VP of Application Services at Canonical, and Marc O'Regan, CTO at Dell EMEA, we connected with industry leaders to discuss the future of AI-ready infrastructure and how our partnership is helping enterprises implement scalable, production-ready sovereign solutions. Canonical was at the XuanTie Partner Conference in Shanghai last week! 👏 We're proud to deepen our silicon partnership with Alibaba DAMO Academy to bring an enterprise-ready Ubuntu experience to the upcoming XuanTie C950 platform. Key highlights from the event: • Cindy Goldberg, VP of Cloud and Silicon Partnerships at Canonical, took the stage to share Canonical’s strategic vision for RISC-V, on how we are building a resilient, production-grade ecosystem together. • We also demoed server-grade virtualization using IOMMU on Ubuntu (running on the C950 FPGA). This is a major step forward for system resilience and high-performance virtualization on RISC-V hardware. RISC-V is gaining momentum in enterprise infrastructure, and we ensure Ubuntu is the foundation for the next generation of data centers.

Bare metal Kubernetes builds on the best ideas from both public and private clouds. To gain greater flexibility, performance benefits, and control, it is crucial to coordinate workloads with bare metal provisioning. MAAS provides the missing link for Kubernetes clusters to run seamlessly and flexibly on on-premises bare metal clouds. Learn how bare metal Kubernetes compares with virtual machines, and explore the benefits of implementing it with Canonical Kubernetes, Juju, and MAAS. In software supply chain security, the best code isn't always the newest. Constantly pulling the latest upstream version might keep your scanner “quiet,” but it could mean trading known, patched vulnerabilities for unknown ones. Security backporting patches vulnerabilities deliberately. It ships only what’s been tested and trusted, without pulling in unreviewed upstream changes. Backup strategy is also security strategy 🔒 A backup is an independent copy of a snapshot containing the state of a system at a precise point in time. This World Backup Day, revisit your backup security model and ask a simple question: could one compromised credential access everything? One of the most important backup-specific measures is role separation. Attackers may try to delete backups before carrying out a ransomware attack, which means a backup is only useful if a single compromised credential cannot unlock both the original data and its backups. In practice, that means separating access across three groups: 1️⃣ Database administrators for source data 2️⃣ Backup administrators for backup systems 3️⃣ Vault administrators for encryption keys and secrets Get more best practices in our whitepaper: https://lnkd.in/etx6xEwE #WorldBackupDay #Data #CyberSecurity
