What a week! We had our first look at what seems to be the definitive (hopefully) trailer for Insomniac’s Marvel: Wolverine, then a major-catastrophic leak of GTA VI, and also a Golden Axe animated series incoming! Plus, we found a super cool reference inside Grounded 2: Into the Abyss. Here, let me show you what’s going on in tonight’s Game Night!
Marvel Wolverine Showcases A New Trailer – Fans Are Not Impressed
After the cold reception to Mystique and Sabretooth’s designs (created by the person responsible for Concord‘s Character Designs) and poor dialogue, fans of Insomniac’s Marvel: Wolverine are already expressing doubts about the game’s fidelity to the actual characters.
Starting with the dialogue, how Sabertooth sounds (which is, honestly, quite different from the actual character), and also how Wolverine behaves in general (being way too passive for a bloodthirsty human weapon). But hey! It’s an “alternative universe,” folks; use your imagination, please!
What else? Oh, yes, that leaked content that was “allegedly suppressed” from the game. AKA: Jean Grey’s gameplay.
Leaked Content Also Showcased a Scrapped Jean Grey Gameplay
Most Wolverine fans have seen this video popping up on their feed for the past two months. Jean Grey was one of the major selling points of Marvel: Wolverine, but after seeing this disappointing example of what the gameplay would look like, some players are thinking twice before pre-ordering this game.
It is what it is, folks. Your consumer-first policies are a bit reversed, it would seem. If you have an established audience and you hear something like: “That doesn’t look or act like the character we love,” then you better go and do something!
Remember the Sonic Movie? What happened after they changed that ugly design? Boom! Success. It’s not rocket science, just listen to your actual audience, not the ones who pose as them.

GTA VI Has Been Leaked (Again)

CYBERKEEK has done it again, folks. New GTA VI content has been released into the wilds, making Rockstar lose millions in just a few hours.
Well, it was to be expected, after all that nonsense about “only digital release” and a ridiculous Netflix campaign / $100 USD paywall for a digital copy, base game, no deluxe edition or anything.
Needless to say, after the leak, the Not-Stonks didn’t wait for anyone to come in like a wrecking ball (thanks for this lovely reference, Miley Cyrus, wherever you are), adding to the powder keg that GTA VI represents for the game industry and its consumers.
Speaking About Fiascos: Star Citizen Is Racing For The Top!

That image above indicates how disappointed we are at the latest Robert Space Industries Game Dev Stream.
During the showcase, bugs were found, egos were hurt, and a passive-aggressive attitude from the devs spelled what everyone (except their real investors, AKA the players) already expected: This is the longest-lived mockery in the history of the Game Industry.
Thanks to Penguinz0, who actually managed to keep this link up for longer than anyone else, as the videos are being taken down all around by damage control.
As he accurately mentioned: (…)All of their inner toxicity unfolding live, the stream showcases how brittle their inner workings are, and thus, why this monumental, never-ending project has been going on for over a decade without providing actually meaningful results.
The current state of Star Citizen is that of a glitter-splattered walking simulator, with some combat here and there, some missions scattered around, some NPC interactions, but absolutely devoid of actual progression, content, or the promised Single Player Campaign. Nothing. An absolute embarrassment. And it cost the gamers over 2KKK to fund this? Please, let the curtain fall already.
Now that the Bad and the Ugly of the Week have passed, let the Good come!
In Happier News: Golden Axe is Coming Back! In the Shape of An Animated Series!

This is not a drill, I repeat, this is not a drill: Golden Axe is coming back!
Golden Axe the Animated Series is coming soon! Produced by Eye Animation Productions (CBS), Sony Pictures Television, and Original Film and airing through Paramount +, Golden Axe the animated series is set to be released on September 16, 2026.
So close, so close! We cannot wait to watch this “return of the glorious classic days” in a whole new shape.
With Mike McMahan and Joe Chandler at the helm as showrunner/executive producer, the series will merge the storylines from Golden Axe: Beast Rider, Ax Battler: A Legend of Golden Axe, and Golden Axe II in what is expected to be a truly impactful release for this year. Here, take a look at the trailer below:
What Are We Playing This Weekend?
It’s that time of the week again, folks: We lay down our suitcases and send an email to our Corporate Cat Overlords while thinking about what games to play, and what can make our brains switch off from our deadly seven-eleven routines (yikes!).
Grounded 2: Into The Abyss

I was so into underwater exploration while playing Grounded 2: Into the Abyss that I almost missed this D&D (or any other tabletop RPG game) reference.
And while I was at it doing that slick photo-mode capture, I missed the bigger picture. Right behind me: A Full POI dedicated to a roleplay session gone wrong.

So, seems like this little one rolled a Natural 1 on Acrobatics and sank alongside the falling fortress. How cool is that?
Speaking frankly, Grounded 2 is a cool game, made by really cool and fun people who have clearly enjoyed their childhood to the extreme.
It is super packed with these cool references, but this is my favorite, by far. One more before leaving for tonight:

And with that, folks, I bid you farewell. Thank you for tuning in to The Phrasemaker Game Night. Don’t forget to leave your likes and comments below (?). Have a good one, and game on!
