You can choose from several different preset AI avatars. Each has a different look and built-in voice. When you use these AI avatars, you can add spoken content without the need to record audio.
Each month, most users can generate up to 25 AI avatar generations. Each generated avatar video has a maximum length of up to 60 seconds. The monthly limit resets at 12 AM PT on the first day of the month. Learn more about generation limits.
- On your computer, open Google Vids
click AI avatar.
- Open the scene where you want to insert your AI avatar.
- To add a script to your scene and have your AI avatar narrate, enter your script.
- To change your AI avatar, below the script, click Change.
- To preview AI avatar voices, hover over the options.
- Click the avatar you want to use
Select
Preview.
- Click Generate.
After the AI avatar video is generated, it’s automatically added to the scene which you wrote the script for.
Tip: Generating an avatar may take a few minutes. Do not close the Vids window while it generates.
Supported languages for AI voiceovers in Google VidsYou can use Gemini to generate AI avatars that speak the words in your script in these languages:

Match AI avatars & voiceovers
You can match AI avatar voices with AI voiceover options in Google Vids. This maintains a consistent voice throughout videos that mix AI avatars and AI voiceovers. For example:
- AI avatar Olivia’s voice matches the “Coach” option.
For more details on which AI avatar corresponds to each voiceover option, review the table below. Avatars and the voiceover used for each is subject to change:

Create a custom AI avatar
- On your computer, open Google Vids
click AI avatar.
- Open the scene where you want to insert your AI avatar.
- In the AI avatar side panel, click Change

- To create an avatar from a preset image:
- At the top, select an image.
- Use the prompt box to add details about your avatar.
- Click Generate

- At the top, select an image.
- To build your avatar from scratch:
- Scroll to “Build from scratch," then select your preferred gender, age, racial background and outfit.
- Optional: Enter additional details.
- Click Create options.
- Select one of the generated avatar options.
- Optional: To generate another option, click Recreate

- Click Refine selected.
- To create an avatar from a preset image:
- Click Next.
- Optional: To make any changes in your avatar, on the “Add finishing touches” window, add details
click Generate.
- If you want to revert to the previous style, click Undo

- On the “Finalize your avatar” window:
- Enter your avatar’s name below the image.
- Under “Select voice,” choose a voice.
- To preview the selected voice, click Play preview

- To insert your avatar into your Vids document, click Preview.
Tip: Your custom avatars are saved to your Vids document only. The copies of your Vids document transfers your saved custom avatars.
Rename an avatar
- In the “Avatar” section of the AI avatar side panel, click Change.
- Hover over your avatar.
- Click More
Rename avatar.
- Enter a new name.
- Click Done.
Tip: If you use inappropriate words in your avatar’s name or description, you may get an error message.
Delete an avatar permanently
- In the “Avatar” section of the AI avatar side panel, click Change.
- Hover over your avatar.
- Click More
Delete avatar
Delete.
Use policies for AI avatars
The AI avatars are created through generative AI and are not real people. Usage of this feature is subject to the Generative AI Prohibited Use Policy.
Give feedback about AI avatars
Gemini for Google Workspace is constantly learning and may not be able to support your request.
If you get a generation that’s inaccurate or that you feel is unsafe, you can let us know by submitting feedback. Your feedback can help improve AI-assisted Workspace features and broader Google efforts in AI.
Because feedback may be human readable, do not submit data that contains personal, confidential, or sensitive information.
To provide feedback on AI avatars, after you add an AI avatar to your video, in the pop-up, rate the avatar as Good or Bad

- In your menu bar, click Help
Help Vids improve.
