Notebook Walkthrough

Notebook is a Sidestory of Soaring Desperados, a level set in the Final Dawn chapter of Split Fiction. This is a very unique level featuring beautiful hand-drawn animations and a narrator instead of the usual dialogue between characters.

Once Upon a Time

After some brief exposition, Zoe and Mio are off to adventure. The level was designed with specific pacing in mind, so don’t try to rush through it. Follow the narrator’s instructions and wait for the environment to be drawn whenever it feels like you can’t progress further. Sometimes it takes a couple of seconds.

• Both Characters - Go through the forest and over the bridge. The bridge cuts off abruptly but you can jump on the clouds to get to the other side.
• Both Characters - Once you get past the first combat section, you’ll run into a cyclops that won’t let you progress any further unless you can solve its riddle.
• Both Characters - Regardless of whether you answer correctly or decide to attack the cyclops instead, the narrator decides that she doesn’t like where the story and changes its direction.
• Mio – You’re going to be turned into a horse for a little while and won’t be able to do much except jump and let Zoe ride you. Stand under the bridge head and let her jump on your back so she can reach the lever.

• Zoe – Reach the lever with the help of horse Mio and pull it to lower the gate.
• Both Characters – Make your way up the mountain. Use double jumps and dashes to get across sections where regular jumping isn’t enough.
• Both Characters – Shortly after you reach the slope, a giant boulder will come rolling down. Go back to the bottom of the slope and hide in the small enclave the narrator creates for you to avoid getting crushed by the boulder.

• Both Characters – Go up the slope and wait for the narrator to draw a pair of mountain goats. Use them to traverse the next section and then make your way through the cave on foot.

Happily Ever After

Once Zoe and Mio reach the bottom of the cave everything will go dark for a little while. Don’t worry, you’ll be able to see what’s going on again in just a bit.

• Both Characters – Use your bows to get rid of the bats and proceed to the next room where you’ll find a large gate and a helpless prince dangling over it.
• Both Characters – Next, you’ll have to decide what lurks behind the gate – a Demon, a Crab, or a Duck. Pick an option and prepare for a boss fight against whichever creature you chose. Expect a very easy fight regardless of your choice.

The narrator will stop the fight once you’ve dealt enough damage and gives you the option to choose a new boss. Dispatch the second enemy to proceed to the next section.

• Both Characters – Once outside, use your bows to hit the bullseye on the chain the prince is dangling from.
• Either Character – Grab the prince and lug him around as you make your way to the end of the level.
