The Underlands Walkthrough

The Underlands is a level from the game Split Fiction, part of the Hopes of Spring Chapter. It is set in the universe of Zoe's stories and as a result, is a Fantasy themed adventure. This level opens with a short cutscene introducing transformation, and has the characters starting in separate areas. They can transform into a variety of different forms to assist in their progress, and have unique interactions with the environment in each. The aim initially is to meet up. Both characters should follow their respective paths taking note of their transformation abilities.

Level Introduction

Mio will have the opportunity to climb on pink vines hanging from the roof in her Monkey form, as well as smashing cracked floors and more. She will also be able to swim exceedingly well in her aquatic form.

Zoe will be able to chain jumps across large gaps in her fairy form, and she’ll be able to grapple to far places via sigils on walls and grow trees and roots to open paths in her tree form.

Both characters should follow the linear paths laid out for them initially, initiating the button prompts that appear in order to use their abilities. As usual, Zoe’s interactions will be highlighted in green, and Mio’s will be in Pink.

  • Mio - Move forward and around to the right, use the on screen prompt to transform and use the Climb Vines ability to proceed.
  • Zoe - Move forward and use the on screen prompts to shapeshift into Fairy form, then chain your jumps to cross the chasm ahead of you.
  • Mio - Proceed and use the prompt to shapeshift to aquatic form, swimming around any obstacles to reach the far side of the water.
  • Zoe - Stay in Fairy form and do the same for the next chasm, chain jumps to cross safely, then step into the flower to be launched across to the far side of the huge gap ahead of you.
  • Mio - Move forward in this area, shapeshifting to Monkey form to leap up to the high platform ahead of you, then climb the vines on the ceiling to progress to the next area.
  • Zoe - Move ahead and shapeshift to tree form, interacting with the plant on the right hand side of the bricks, causing a tree to grow and open your path. Once the tree is fully grown, be quick to change back into Fairy form and leap through.
  • Mio - Move through the tunnel after the vines and follow the on screen prompt to smash the cracked ground ahead of you. This will drop you down to a new area with more water ahead. Move forward, shapeshifting to your aquatic form and following the natural path of the water until you reach a platform with a round boulder. Wait there for Zoe if she isn’t already there.
  • Zoe - Zoe should see spiral symbols on the walls, and be moving through the same area that Mio has swam through in the above description. Move across gaps using tree form to leap to the symbols, or fairy form when there are no symbols. Reunite with Mio on the platform with the round boulder.

Reunited

Once both characters have traversed the initial area, they’ll be brought together and will now need to use their new abilities in tandem to progress even further into the area. They'll encounter carnivorous plants, deadly wildlife, and some tricky timing for puzzles.

  • Zoe should start by interacting with the plant on the right of the round boulder to lift it. Allowing Mio to progress through. She should be sure to keep the boulder held while Mio acts.
  • Mio should go under the Boulder and attack/smash the cracked log that was behind the boulder. Once this is done, they should move forward and allow Zoe to set the boulder down. This will then cause the Boulder to roll away, allowing Zoe to progress.

underlands smashlift 600px split fiction wiki

  • The boulder will smash through a wall of trees, and after a brief cutscene, both characters will be free to proceed.
  • Mio should take the rising path to the right, shapeshifting to traverse the vines and water as necessary. She will have to dive under the water to pass through an underwater tunnel.
  • Zoe should take the same path, but shapeshift to a Fairy at the vines, and start chaining jumps to the left, where she’ll be able to land on a flower, which in turn will boost her to the next area.
  • Both Characters should make their way through the arch in the next area.

A Friendly Push - With Mio as a monkey, have Zoe sit on the tree swing to the right of this area near a cliffside. Mio should then push her to receive this trophy.

  • Mio - Shapeshift into Monkey form and use the vines to get to the far platform.
  • Zoe - Use Fairy form to chain jump across the gap to reach the far side.
  • Mio should stand on the pink flower to the left while Zoe transforms into tree form and interacts with the green plant beside the flower. This will enable Zoe to fling Mio up to the Vines overhead. Be careful with timing here, as there is a Spider crawling around the Vines, which will cause trouble if Mio hits it on the way up.
  • Mio should move to the right on the Vines and scare the Bird away, then use her smash ability to knock the nest down, creating a path for both Characters to climb up to the next area.

underlands vineleap 600px split fiction wiki

In the next area, Mio can swim and Zoe can chain jump across to the next vine to climb it and on the next raised area, Mio should use the vines, while Zoe Chain jumps across. Both characters will need to be careful here as they begin to slide down the slope. The slide will come to an abrupt end, so they should jump and use their grapples on the left wall, then on the hook above the waterfall.

underlands hook 600px split fiction wiki

  • Mio should reach the water area to swim onward.
  • Zoe should chainjump from the hook to the flower that is visible in the water area. This will boost her to the next combined puzzle.
  • Both characters are needed to progress here. Zoe should shapeshift into her tree form and interact with the green flower to the left, then lower the vines above. Mio should then jump up to the vines and climb to the right, moving onto the platform at the end of them.
  • Mio can then smash the pink panels on this platform, which in turn will cause stones to rotate underneath, providing a path for Zoe to progress.
  • Both characters will need to work together to traverse these and communicate well, there are three of these stones and they will need turned at the right time to allow Zoe to grapple to them.
  • Also, as before, be mindful of spiders here.

underlands grapplestones 600px split fiction wiki

Timing is Everything

Once both characters are past the stones, Mio can continue to use the vines to progress, landing beside another two panels to smash with a chasm and Vines separating them. The panel on the left will activate two flowers on the left of the chasm, and the panel on the right will activate a single flower on the right of the chasm. These will allow Zoe to use her Fairy form to boost. This can be quite challenging, as timing is key to get this right.

  • Mio must hit the first panel (1 in the image below), then move to the second (2), hit it (3), then move back to the first (4), hit it again (5), and finally grab the vines (6) to allow Zoe through.
  • Zoe can use her chain jumping to delay slightly if needed, but Mio must be quick to succeed in this puzzle.

underlands smashpadsflowers 600px split fiction wiki

  • In the next area, Zoe should turn left and use the boost flower to proceed, while Mio should approach the vines at the far end of the platform, using them to get to the wall run section opposite.
  • Mio should progress here using a combination of her aquatic abilities and her grapple. Some of these jumps are tricky to get the timing down, so it might take a few tries.
  • Zoe should use the boost flower streams to avoid walls, chaining her jumps when needed to get some air. Towards the end of this run, she will have to use her grapple and wall run to get over some larger gaps.
  • This area is quite fast paced for both characters, so be alert and try to avoid any sudden drops.

Once the characters land, they'll see a floating tree, with some pink plants in the water area ahead, this signifies the beginning of the next level.

Lord Evergreen Walkthrough

Mother Earth is a level set in the Hopes of Spring chapter of Split Fiction. This level takes place in a lush jungle environment and both players must use their abilities to help each other progress through the environment, culminating with Zoe finding Lord Evergreen at the end.

Welcome to the Jungle

Both players have access to transformation abilities in this level. Switch between them as needed to progress through the level.

  • Zoe – Use the pixie transformation and fly over to the platform in front of you.
  • Mio – Use the sea creature transformation and jump into the water to reach the platform ahead.
  • Both Characters - Use double jumps and dashes to clear the next section. The poles will start sinking as soon as you grab onto them, so you’ll need to jump quickly from one pole to the next.
  • Mio - Fire the grappling hook and use the gorilla transformation in mid-air to grab the pink vines hanging from the ceiling. Use the vines to reach the other side.
  • Zoe – Use the pixie transformation to make your way over the chasm. Use your grappling hook when you see the prompt to grab onto the branch and propel yourself forward.
  • Mio – While in gorilla form, attack the red bulb and then make your way up the elevated platform to your right.
  • Zoe – While in pixie form, use the green trail of leaves created by the bulb to propel yourself to the next platform. Use the treant transformation and interact with the green flower. Doing so will allow you to move the pink vines on the other side of the chasm. Use your Left Stick to move the vines closer to Mio and then move them back once your partner grabs hold.

  • Mio – Grab onto the vines on the ceiling once they’re in range and use them to make your way to the next section. Watch out for the spiny insects crawling around on the ceiling.
  • Mio – Attack the red bulb to spawn another trail of leaves and then use the ceiling vines to your right to advance to the next platform.
  • Zoe – Turn back into a pixie and use the green trail to reach the upper platform where you’ll find a tunnel that will lead you to the other side. Watch out for the insects crawling around inside the tunnel.
  • Either Character: Grab the egg and place it on the seesaw in front of the entrance to the next area, which is currently blocked by vines.
  • Mio – While in gorilla form, perform a jumping attack on the other end of the seesaw to throw the egg up into the air. You’ll need to coordinate with Zoe so she can hit the egg in mid-air.
  • Zoe – Transform into a treant and interact with the green flower. This will allow you to grab the log hanging from the ceiling. Your mission is to pull the log backward and release it once the egg is in the air. If everything goes to plan, the egg will punch throw the vines and unblock the entrance to the next area.

Train Heist Walkthrough

Train Heist is a Side Story of Lord Evergreen, a level that takes place in the Hopes of Spring chapter of Split Fiction. Just as its name suggests, the Side Story requires Mio and Zoe to work together in order to pull off a train heist. The entire level is essentially a Hollywood-style chase sequence culminating in a challenging boss fight. Unlike other levels, Train Heist is less about puzzle-solving and more about working together under pressure. Keep reading to find out everything you need to know about how to successfully complete the Train Heist Side Mission.

Note: The following information applies to both players as Mio and Zoe will have to navigate the entire level together.

Gone With the Wind

Train Heist doesn’t waste any time and thrusts Mio and Zoe into the action from the get-go. Throughout the introductory section, both protagonists will be using gliders to try to catch up with the runaway train.

  • This section plays like an endless runner, meaning you can sway left or right, accelerate/decelerate and perform certain other maneuvers, but you can’t stop moving. This is important to keep in mind as there are plenty of obstacles throughout the opening section and bumping into any of them will result in instant death.
  • The first portion is very straightforward, but do make sure to watch your elevation since you can easily crash into the half-opened gate right at the start if you’re flying too high. Go through the gate and follow the corridor while avoiding incoming obstacles.
  • Shortly after exiting the first tunnel, you’ll be greeted by The Conductor, a large drone that drops mines at regular intervals in an attempt to stop you. Dodge the incoming mines and follow The Conductor until you reach a large outdoor area leading to two tunnels.
  • The Conductor will dive into the right (red) tunnel and will immediately close the gate behind it. You and your partner will have to take the left (blue) tunnel to continue the pursuit. Get ready to dodge some trains inside the tunnel.
  • Move to the right to dodge the first train, left to dodge the second one, and then right again to dodge the third one. Next up, you and your partner will need to go under the tracks to avoid the remaining trains.
  • Keep gliding under the tracks until you exit the tunnel. You’ll spot the runaway train and The Conductor as soon as you do. Move toward the train and, just like before, do your best to avoid The Conductor’s mines.

train heist tunnels split fiction wiki

Surf’s Up

  • Once you’re close enough to the train, press R1 to tether yourself to it and get ready for some wakeboarding.
  • You'll lose the ability to glide in this section, but you can now jump (X) and perform some fancy tricks if you feel so inclined.
  • It’s important to keep your eyes on the prize here, as the portion ahead requires precise dodging and well-timed jumps. Not just that, but The Conductor becomes more aggressive and will routinely use a chain gun to fire at players in addition to dropping mines into the water.
  • The drone will also launch missiles from time to time. The missiles won’t hit you directly, but they will destroy various structures in the environment and create more obstacles in the water.
  • The second section of the Side Mission ends with the train entering a tunnel that, unfortunately, you won’t be able to enter yourself. Instead, you’ll need to use the ramp to get airborne and start gliding again.
  • Get close to the train and use R1 to latch onto it. Progress on foot until you see the prompt and press R1 again to jump to the next car. Repeat this process until you reach the front of the train.
  • You’ll only need to worry about two things while traversing this section. Firstly, The Conductor will fire missiles at you at regular intervals that can be a pain to dodge. Secondly, the train will occasionally rotate as it travels, so you’ll need to be careful not to lose your balance.
  • Grab the two ships once you reach the end of this section and prepare for the boss fight.

train heist train cars split fiction wiki

How to Defeat the Conductor

The final portion of Train Heist where you fight The Conductor is basically a side-scroller reminiscent of video games from the 90s. Players are likely to die on more than one occasion over the course of the fight but can respawn at any time, provided their partner is still alive.

  • The fight kicks off with the The Conductor firing energy orbs in (mostly) predictable patterns. Players can hold R2 to shoot the boss, but they can’t destroy the orbs. Make sure to dodge them and press Square to perform a quick Dash when necessary.
  • Every once in a while, you may notice a power-up floating around. Grab it to gain temporary access to powerful attacks that will make the fight easier.

train heist the conductor boss split fiction wiki

  • The Conductor enters Phase 2 as soon as it drops below approximately 75% health.
  • During this phase, its default attack is replaced by spinning energy stars, followed by homing mines and orbs.
  • Shoot the mines and dodge the energy attacks as you continue to whittle down The Conductor’s health bar.
  • Once the health bar drops to about 50%, the fight enters Phase 3, where the boss will temporarily change its attack pattern and will start dropping orbs from above before reverting to its initial position.
  • From this point onward, the boss will become more aggressive and will use a combination of attacks you’ve seen in previous Phases.
  • Additionally, the boss will start using a couple of new attacks that involve moving around the arena and trying to ram you. Finish off The Conductor to complete the Train Heist Side Story.

Mother Earth Walkthrough

Mother Earth is a level set in the Hopes of Spring chapter of Split Fiction. This level takes place in a lush jungle environment where Zoe essentially becomes the environment until the end of the level. That may sound a bit confusing, but don’t worry because we’ll explain everything you need to know about completing Mother Earth down below.

Keep in mind that Zoe isn't like a usual character in this level, and doesn't have all of her previous abilities.

  • Zoe – Use L2 to retract the spikes, granting Mio safe passage over the bridge.
  • Mio – Stay in gorilla form and make your way up the totem pole one level at a time. Some of the platforms you can jump on/hang from are retracted at first, but can be extended by Zoe at any time.
  • Zoe – Coordinate with Mio to help your partner make her way to the top. In addition to being able to extend and retract the platform at will, you can also rotate the various sections of the totem pole.
  • Mio – Once you reach the top, grab the vines on the ceiling and make your way to the next section while telling Zoe when to extend or retract the spikes.
  • Zoe – Use the Left Stick to rotate the log Mio will have to traverse in the next section. Work with Mio to find openings in the spider webs that block her path. Take your time and don’t spin too fast, otherwise, Mio might lose her balance. As Mio approaches the end, you’ll need to start moving the bark rather than the whole log.

  • Mio – When you reach the far end of the log, you’ll be prompted to use your grappling hook to reach the other side. Once you do, stomp the ground and prepare to free-fall into the next portion of Mother Earth, which plays like a side-scroller.
  • Zoe – Use Left Stick and L2 to control the plants and help Mio progress through this next section.
  • Mio – Once you reach the underwater portion of the level, you’ll have to ditch the gorilla form and start using the sea creature form. You’ll run into a tall wall that blocks passage shortly after entering the water.
  • Zoe – Use Left Stick to move the wall all the way to the left. Move it back all the way to the right after Mio gets to the other side.

mother earth underwater split fiction wiki

  • Mio – Once the water reaches the top, jump over the obstacle and wait for Zoe to move it back to the right. Jump out of the water and make your way to the final section where you’ll be submerged again. This final section is pretty straightforward, but you’ll have to watch out for predators as you make your way to the end. You can hide inside seaweed and beneath rocks to avoid them.
  • Zoe – Help Zoe by moving platforms and growing seaweed whenever she’s in danger. Your partner will have to navigate the corridors by herself, but you can make sure she reaches the end of the level in one piece.

Walking Stick of Doom Walkthrough

Walking Stick of Doom is a level from the game Split Fiction, part of the Hopes of Spring Chapter. It is set in the universe of Zoe's stories and as a result, is a Fantasy themed adventure. This level sees the characters engage in some high speed platforming, dodging devious traps laid by local monkeys, and engaging with the Monkey King to prove themselves worthy of travelling through his lands. Some of this requires quick wits and precise platforming, as well as a surprising ear for rhythm.

  • To start with, both characters should move to the right, then swing by grapple to the platform. Then they should move to the balance log and cross.
  • They should then turn left and follow the path below several rope bridges in trees.
  • Use Grapple abilities at end of path to swing and traverse forward.
  • Mio - Change to Monkey form to smash a thorn cage
  • Zoe - Change to tree form after the above is smashed to take control of the platform, moving forward.

Traveling in Style

Traversal in this level can be difficult, but with some solid communication and perhaps a little trial and error, the characters should be able to progress without issue. The important factor to consider here is timing, and ensuring the other character is ready before starting a section.

  • While traveling, Mio needs to defend Zoe and remove any boarding invaders from the platform. She can grab or smash enemies, removing them from the platform.
  • Zoe should try to focus on steering to avoid towers or use the scream ability to destroy them. She should also use this to destroy any gates in the way. This could take multiple shots.
  • Zoe will lose control eventually and both characters will be thrown from the platform. A short cutscene will play out, once it completes, both characters move on to the Silly Monkeys level.

Sidestory: Gameshow Walkthrough

Gameshow is a side story level from the game Split Fiction, part of the Hopes of Spring Chapter, within the Walking Stick of Doom level. It is set in the universe of Mio’s stories and as a result, is a Sci-Fi themed adventure.

The Characters are thrust into a gameshow, where the stakes are high, the crowd is wild, and the announcer is overly cheerful about the prospect of the character deaths.

trophy gold large

Achievement/Trophy Unlock

Cold Potato - Complete this sidestory without the bomb exploding.

Round One - Starting Slow

The characters should run forward while the announcer describes the game they will play, and each should go to their marked area. From here, they’ll be told to throw a bomb between themselves using the on-screen button prompt.

gameshow catch 600px split fiction wiki

Aim is important, as the bomb can be thrown any direction, so ensure that the characters are pointing in the right direction before throwing. There is also the minor complication that the bomb will explode if held onto for too long. No pressure.

The true game begins and the characters are running along parallel paths.

  • Zoe starts with the bomb, and should use the prompt to pass it to Mio.
  • Mio should do the same as both characters move towards the goal at the end of their paths

gameshow round1 600px split fiction wiki

.

  • The bomb has a timer shown visually as light climbing around the outside of the casing, and a pitched tone getting higher as time progresses.
  • It is incredibly important to keep passing the bomb between the characters, as it detonates very quickly.
  • When the characters reach the end of the run, they’ll need to work together, one will need to hold the bomb and the other will need to open the container in order to dispose of it.

Once the characters dispose of the first bomb, the announcer congratulates them and decides to kick things up a notch. How kind of them.

Round Two - Higher Stakes

This time, the characters will have a wider path, but a wall between them. Luckily, there are panels that allow the characters to bounce up above the wall, which allows them to pass the bomb at the top of their leap.

  • Characters should time their run so that they’re boosted at the same time, reaching the top of the wall and passing when able.

gameshow round2 600px split fiction wiki

  • The Jump pads trigger at specific intervals. The characters should watch them and make sure they catch them in time, together.
  • Communicate, and wait at each pad for it to trigger. It is not advisable to try to run on to the next pad.

Repeat the process to dispose of this bomb, and the announcer will decide they’re going to turn up the heat for the next round. Literally.

Round Three - Hot Potato

This round has a more complex path with gaps to leap across, the walls make a return from the last stage (although not quite as high) and the charming addition of flamethrowers in specific floor and wall panels.

  • The characters should make sure that despite the obstacles, they don’t lose track of the fuse. If needed, they should throw the bomb to the other character before acting, jumping, or entering a tunnel of potential flame.
  • They should time their runs properly, and wait until the flames have gone out before making an attempt at a tricky area.

gameshow round3 600px split fiction wiki

  • They should also throw the bomb as many times as needed. If they’re waiting for a fire to die out, they can pass it to reset the fuse.

Dispose of this bomb, and the announcer starts to get a little flustered, and decides to throw an obstacle in Zoe and Mio’s path.

Round Four - Roadblock

This round has an open field, but a particularly large opponent waiting to charge at the characters and spoil their day.

  • The enemy will chase the bomb, not the characters. Characters should keep this in mind and position themselves when they don’t have the bomb.

gameshow round4 600px split fiction wiki

  • Characters should pass when it gets close to them, but leave it enough room to turn. The last thing they want is a collision with this thing.
  • When the character holding the bomb crosses the gap at the end of the field, the opponent will continue to try to chase them. The other character should be able to join them relatively easily.

At this point the announcer is in disbelief that the characters managed to complete this stage, and seems to be having trouble holding themselves together.

Round Five - Platforming Chaos

What could make the levels a little more difficult? Moving platforms of course. And reintroducing fire.

  • This stage is particularly chaotic and it can be easy to lose track of what’s happening.
  • Characters should focus on passing the bomb when possible, and ensure that they time their jumps to make use of the moving platforms.

gameshow round5 600px split fiction wiki

  • Remember to use the character movement abilities to stretch jumps a little further if needed.

The characters have well and truly broken the announcer by this point, and it’s time to remove it from the equation.

Round Six - Showdown

The aim here is for the characters to climb onto the announcer’s head/monitor and drop a bomb inside to finish things off. They have to overcome the obstacles before them, and the announcer isn’t making it easy.

  • This level has diagonal jumps, platforms that can instantly kill you, and jump panels from Round Two.
  • Watch your jumps, time the progression over the death platforms to avoid having to restart, and jump up to the announcer’s head.

gameshow round6 600px split fiction wiki

  • From there, work together to open the panel, and drop the bomb inside. Just remember to keep passing the bomb until you get there. It’s easy to forget with everything going on!

Once they achieve this, the characters will leap from the platform as it explodes, and drop through a portal, back to the Walking Stick of Doom level.

Silly Monkeys Walkthrough

Silly Monkeys is a level from the game Split Fiction, part of the Hopes of Spring Chapter. It is set in the universe of Zoe's stories and as a result, is a Fantasy themed adventure. This level sees the characters engage in some high speed platforming, dodging devious traps laid by local monkeys, and engaging with the Monkey King to prove themselves worthy of traveling through his lands. Some of this requires quick wits and precise platforming, as well as a surprising ear for rhythm.

  • To begin, both characters should follow the icy path. This journey should be relatively straightforward initially, as the path is clearly thawed compared to the ice surroundings, however it can be easy to get caught out here by distance. Be careful with some of the jumps, especially when you have to grapple to a post and then to another grapple.
  • After some travel, both characters will find a thorn cage, and a set of vines. Mio should smash the cage using her Monkey form, then start to climb the vines.
  • Smashing the cage reveals a boost flower, so Zoe can use that to push on in her fairy form.
  • Zoe will reach a red flower that she can use to change the positioning of gates and other obstacles in a river she now overlooks; she should use this to aid Mio.
  • Mio, once she reaches the end of the vines, will be able to drop into the river. She should transform into her aquatic form and make her way through the obstacles, with Zoe’s help.

silly monkeys waterwheel 600px split fiction wiki

  • The aim here is for Mio to reach the platform at the water wheel, then for Zoe to release the water after holding it for a while, this will catapult Mio across the gap.
  • Mio should then be able to smash a cracked area on the platform they land on, and Zoe should be able to rejoin by using her Fairy chain jumping abilities.
  • Both characters will enter a cave which requires some wall running and transformation (Zoe into Fairy form and Mio into Aquatic form) to pass through successfully.

Monkey Business

Traps and hijinks are afoot in this area, as the characters must avoid danger from unsuspecting places. Again, some quick thinking and nimble control usage is required to keep the characters moving forward.

  • The Characters will then arrive in an open area populated with Red leaves and some suspicious Monkeys. A character will comment on Bear Traps. This is your cue not to step on the leaves.
  • Characters should use the grapple abilities to hop across to the logs suspended above the leaves, and make their way around the platforms, climbing higher as they go. They should spiral around to the left, cross some poles (upright) and grapple to a new area with water.
  • Mio should dive into the water and will have to activate a set of poles in order to allow Zoe to cross the water.
  • These poles shoot up above the water and Zoe can grapple them, however, they do not stay up long. The characters should time this well, and Mio should be just ahead of Zoe in activation/grappling.
  • Zoe can use her Fairy form to get a little air and successfully land on the island after these poles.
  • On this platform, Zoe should interact with the red plant furthest to the right to lower the Vine platform, then Mio should use a combination of her aquatic form and Monkey form to leap to these.
  • Zoe should then raise Mio to allow her to climb across the attached Vines, and then move to the next flower, continuing to raise and lower platforms as needed until Mio can reach the large flower platform.
  • Mio should smash the platform, lowering it to allow Zoe to reach it with her Fairy chain jumps.
  • Once Zoe is on the platform, she should use her Give Life ability (see the on screen prompt) to cause the flower to ascend and bloom, allowing the characters to continue.
  • They should make their way over the logs (knocking one down on the way) to an area with 3 totem poles.
  • The Trick to this puzzle is to match the 3 faces on the gate behind them.
  • Mio needs to smash the poles down into the ground, while Zoe must interact with the large flower beside them to suspend them at specific faces.

  • If the characters are struggling, they should check the order of the totem poles as to which needs to be held in place longest (the highest on the pole), and start with that one, then move to the next longest and so on.
  • Both characters will then be able to move on and approach a door which then triggers a cutscene where they are greeted by the Monkey King. This kicks off the next level, It Takes Three to Tango.

It Takes Three To Tango Walkthrough

It Takes Three to Tango is a level set in the Hopes of Spring chapter of Split Fiction. The level revolves around a dance-off competition where you’ll need to play some minigames in order to gain favor with the Monkey King.

Dance off with the King

  • Zoe and Mio discover the throne room of the Monkey King, and after a colorful introduction, the characters must participate in a multi stage dancing minigame to prove themselves.
  • The first stage is similar to Simon Says, in that the characters must match a sequence of moves and colous based on the Monkey King’s movements.
  • Once they complete this stage, they’ll then be taken into the next, where they will need to collect the monkeys around the dancefloor, like a giant game of snake. They need to collect their own colous, and should avoid running into each other’s line of monkeys or walls. At the end of this game, they need to lead the monkeys to the center of the floor to light up the colored tiles.
  • For the final stage, they should follow the King’s movements, using Up, Down, Left and Right on their analogue sticks. This will get progressively quicker, but listen for his audio cues to ensure the characters are keeping up with him.
  • Once this is complete, a cutscene will play out to end the level.

Halls of Ice Walkthrough

Halls of Ice is a level set in the Hopes of Spring chapter of Split Fiction. This level takes place in a snowy environment and features several challenging puzzles. Zoe and Mio will have to make good use of their transformation abilities to solve the puzzles and navigate through the treacherous environment as they make their way to the titular Halls of Ice.

Frostbound

The level kicks off with a linear section that requires both players to use their grappling hooks to traverse the environment. Once you reach the bridge, it’s time to put your thinking cap on.

  • Mio – Activate your gorilla form and smash the vines to reveal a flower on the ground. You’ll notice of trail of green leaves emanating from it.
  • Zoe – Activate your pixie form and ride the trail of leaves to reach the other side of the broken bridge. Activate your treant form and interact with the red flower to gain control of what remains of the bridge. Use Left Stick to move the bridge piece closer to Mio.
  • Mio – Jump on the bridge piece and work together with Zoe to reach the other side. Do a big jump just as Zoe pulls the bridge to avoid hitting the icicles. This works best if you’re still in gorilla form.
  • Both Characters - Turn back into your regular forms and simultaneously push the door to open the way to the next section.
  • Both Characters - Go up the stairs where you’ll find a snowman and another broken bridge. You can throw around the stones lying next to the snowman if you want to have a bit of fun and potentially earn a Trophy called One Bird, Three Stones.

One Bird, Three Stones - Throw rocks all three rocks next to the snowman on the bridge as Mio and the final will hit a bird.

Open Sesame

When you’re ready to proceed, use your grappling hooks to cross the broken bridge. Use your grappling hooks again combined with a bit of wall running to bypass the collapsed stairs. You’ll soon find yourself in front of a massive silver door.

  • Mio – While in gorilla form, go around the tree and smash the vines to reveal another flower with a trail of leaves emanating from it.
  • Zoe - Activate your pixie form and ride the trail to propel yourself toward the silver door. Use Dash to close the remaining distance and go through the keyhole. Pull the lever once inside to activate the mechanism.
  • Both Characters - Zoe and Mio must work together to match the symbols found on the bolts inside the door to the ones found outside. Zoe can rotate the bolts on her end to switch the symbols. Once Zoe pulls the level, players will have a limited amount of time at their disposal to solve the puzzle before it resets.
  • Zoe – Rotate a bolt until the symbol matches the one found outside. This can be done in any order, but the matching symbols have to be in the same position on both sides.
  • Mio – Once Zoe matches a pair, hit the corresponding symbol to lock the bolt in place. Repeat this process three more times to open the door.

More Puzzles

On the other side of the silver door a new puzzle awaits. Zoe needs to switch to treant form for this one. Mio should remain in gorilla form. The goal is to push the cube into the green gate found to the right of the entrance.

Sisters: A Tale of Two Besties - Sit together on all 6 benches in the game.

  • The second bench is immediately inside the castle doors and to the left.
  • Zoe – Interact with the green flowers scattered around the room to raise sections of the floor.
  • Mio – Your job is to guide the cube until it lands on the central row that leads to the door. Hitting the cube with cause it to travel in a linear direction until it reaches the edge of the puzzle area. You’ll need to coordinate with Zoe and push the cube into the sections raised by her to slowly guide the cube until it reaches the central row. Once it’s there, give it a good whack to open the gate.

  • Both Characters - Go through the opening and follow the narrow corridor until you reach the next room.
  • Mio – Activate your salamander form and jump through one of the holes to get under the ice. Once you’re underwater, interact with the flower to launch a bulb up through the ice.
  • Zoe – Grab the bulb and throw it into the window to break it. Don’t worry if you miss the first time because Mio can activate the flower again to create new bulbs.

  • Both Characters - Go outside and carefully make your way up the cables and across the railing. Keep going until you find yourself inside a tower. Here, you can jump into the Collapsing Star Side Story before proceeding further.
  • Both Characters - Once you’ve completed (or skipped) the Side Story, use your grappling hooks to get across the chasm and then proceed downstairs.
  • Zoe – In treant form, interact with the statue in the center of the room. Pull the statue down by mashing the Interact button to create a hole in the ice.
  • Mio – Activate salamander form and jump in the water where you’ll find another bulb launcher.
  • Zoe – Grab the bulb and use it to destroy the ice blocking the entrance to the next level, The Ice King.

Collapsing Star Walkthrough

Collapsing Star is a Side Story of Halls of Ice, a level set in the Hopes of Spring chapter of Split Fiction. In this sci-fi level, Zoe and Mio must neutralize the core of a dying sun before it goes supernova and obliterates all the planets in its system. Keep reading for detailed instructions that will help you complete the Side Story.

Supernova

Throughout the entirety of this level, the dying sun will unleash devastating flares at regular intervals. Letting yourself get hit by a flare means instant death. Luckily, there plenty of objects that can be used as cover.

  • Both Characters - Start by going down the corridor and use wall running to get across the gap that blocks access to the first room. Once you’ve made it to the room, Zoe and Mio will have to simultaneously activate the two control panels in order to open the door.
  • Both Characters - Step outside and start making your way toward the collapsing star. Hide behind the energy panels to shield yourself from the flares. Proceed down the path until you’ve reached the next building. Zoe and Mio will have to simultaneously activate the switches to open the door.
  • Both Characters - Make your way through the greenhouse while using panels, columns, and whatever else you can for cover. Get ready to use your grappling hooks to get across a broken bridge once you exit the greenhouse. Use the elevator at the end of the path to proceed to the next section.

Closer to the Sun

The next portion of Collapsing Star plays like a side-scroller and involves more platforming but is otherwise quite similar to the opening section.

  • Both Characters - Run against the conveyor belt while jumping over crates and hiding behind panels until you reach the end.

Note: The following actions can be completed by either player. We’re mentioning specific characters for the sake of simplicity but feel free to switch roles if needed.

  • Zoe - Jump on the button marked with the red ring to get the elevator to come down.
  • Mio - Take the elevator to the top. From there, the second player can jump on the button in the center to raise the platform that will allow Zoe to make her way to the other side. Jump back to the elevator as soon as your partner has made it through. This maneuver must be performed quickly by both players to avoid getting hit by the solar flares.
  • Zoe - Press the button on your side to raise the wall above you.
  • Mio - Once the wall is up, make your way to the platform above Zoe.

  • Both Characters - Continue alternating between jumping and pressing buttons to help each other reach the end of this section where you’ll come across a control panel.
  • Both Characters - Take the elevator up and use the poles to making your way to the next building. Use the panels for cover when needed.

Averting Disaster

The rest of the level is fairly straightforward and requires the characters to run in a mostly straight line in an effort to reach the main control panel that neutralizes the solar core. That said, there are a couple of twists and turns along the way.

  • Both Characters - Make your way through the building and prepare for some heart-pounding action as soon as you get outside. Head straight toward the sun while continuing to use the panels for cover. You’ll soon run into an unpowered panel that won’t protect you from the flares. You can bring it back online by simultaneously interacting with it. You’ll run into several of these panels moving forward. From this point onward, the flares will become more frequent.
  • Both Characters - Once you approach the end of the runway, turn left and prepare to descend to the lower level. Make sure you both grapple onto the mechanism at the same time to activate it.
  • Both Characters - The next section features more unpowered energy panels, however, these are bit trickier to bring back online. You’ll notice a series of buttons in front of each panel. Pressing one or two of these will regenerate some of the shield, but that won’t be enough to protect you from the flares. You and your partner will need to press all of them in quick succession to fully charge the shield. The shield gets depleted again once it’s hit by a flare, so you’ll need to proceed to the next one as soon as that happens.

  • Both Characters - For the final stretch of Collapsing Star, players will have access to portable energy shields that can be activated at will. These shields get depleted when hit by a flare and need some time to recharge, so make sure to use them only when you have to. The shields can protect both players, so it’s a good idea to alternate between them instead of using them at the same time. Just make sure you’re both behind it when the flare hits.
  • Both Characters - Mash the Interact button when you reach the final control panel to neutralize the core.

The Ice King Walkthrough

The Ice King is a level from the game Split Fiction, part of the Hopes of Spring Chapter. It is set in the universe of Zoe's stories and as a result, is a Fantasy themed adventure. This level begins with a cutscene, explaining who The Ice King is, and what is at stake for the Underlands. Despite initial appearances of cuteness, The Ice King is a terrifying foe, who will put Zoe and Mio through their paces. After a brief introduction, the characters are blown to a platform above a seeming abyss.

Stage 1

The Ice king will start attacking from below, and will indicate where he is about to attack;

  • A section of the platform is highlighted shortly before the Ice King destroys it.
  • A line of paws indicates that he will attack in that area

Focus on avoiding these attacks for now. The Characters cannot damage him here, so it is best to avoid taking damage as much as possible. Once the platform has been damaged enough, the Ice King will attack from below and cause them to drop to the next area.

Stage 2

After a brief cutscene, the characters will land on another platform, and the Ice King will join them, the appearance of his health bar signifying that the true battle begins. The Ice King has several attacks, and the Characters will need to be light on their feet to avoid them

  • Attack 1 - The Ice King roars and swipes with each paw in turn, creating several columns of energy. Characters should focus on weaving between the columns.

iceking attack1 600px split fiction wiki

  • Attack 2 - The Ice King will then drive his paws into the platform from his pedestal repeatedly, creating a wave of ice spikes. Characters should jump to avoid these waves. He may delay between waves. Watch and time jumps with his movements.

iceking attack2 600px split fiction wiki

When he is standing/delaying during Attack 2, Zoe will have an opportunity to use her tree form to grapple him with Vines and (following the button prompt on screen) pull him forward, leaving him vulnerable to Mio’s attacks in Monkey Form. Deal him damage, and he will then change up his attacks a little.

  • Attack 3 - The Ice King will roar, causing icicles to fall from the ceiling in a pattern of closing circles, then will run through the centre. Characters should wait for the icicles to fall then dodge his pounce attack by running between the icicles.

iceking attack3 600px split fiction wiki

He will then return to Attack 1, but with icicles randomly falling from the roof, Zoe and Mio should avoid the red circles on the ground while stepping between the columns. He’ll also attempt Attack 3 again, follow the same process of stepping between the icicles after they have fallen to avoid.

After a few rounds of his offense (continue dodging) he’ll return to Attack 2. Zoe needs to be very aware of the delayed attack, as missing this will cause him to switch to another attack again. Hit him with the vines again, then Mio can lay into him while he is vulnerable.

Stage 3

When the Characters have done enough damage to him, a short cutscene will play where he’ll destroy the platform they are on, and drop them onto a slide. Avoid ice on the floor by jumping, move forward and backwards to avoid other hazards, such as the Ice King swiping at you from the walls, and time your jumps well, as there will be icicles shot into the wall above which will damage the characters if hit by them. After completing this, Zoe and Mio will come to a short corridor, leading to a room with the Ice King, and a pool with a flower submerged inside.

  • Attack 4 - The Ice King will use his powers to create an Ice tornado, preventing access to this pool, and causing several smaller tornadoes to cycle around the floor. Avoid these while constantly moving away from the center tornado as it will pull the characters in and deal them damage if touched.

iceking attack4 600px split fiction wiki

  • Attack 5 - The Ice King will create several small spiked balls on the platform near Zoe, these grow rapidly and explode, dealing damage. Zoe should avoid where possible by constantly moving and creating distance.

iceking attack5 600px split fiction wiki

Once the tornado subsides, Mio will have access to the pool and can use her aquatic form to dive in and interact with the flower, sending a Green projectile upwards. Zoe should interact with this when possible, sending it flying into the Ice King, and opening him up for another assault from Mio’s Monkey form.

After being dealt damage, the Ice King will freeze the pool, then create another platform and move to it.

  • Attack 6 - The Ice King will spit up hairballs that will chase the characters as they move, exploding after a short time.

iceking attack6 600px split fiction wiki

Characters should lead these hairballs to the pool, using the explosions to crack the ice. The Ice king will return to using Attack 4 here, but the smaller tornadoes will be faster, so use your movement abilities at the right time here to dodge. Once the tornado subsides, he should resort to Attack 6 again, but combined with Attack 5, characters should continue to use the hairballs to shatter the Ice while avoiding the spiked balls.

iceking monkey 600px split fiction wiki

Once they have shattered the Ice, they should repeat the interaction with the flower and projectile, and give the king one final dose of Monkey damage. After a quick few buttons presses, the King will revert to his small cat form, before Zoe chases him off and the Underlands are thawed and a cutscene will play out, sending the characters to their next destination. Not before some additional story exposition, and a little enlightening conversation with Rader.
