Stay curious and grounded to remain relevant in the AI era. 🧠 Reflecting on a thought-provoking #ATxInspire, our CE Cher Pong Ng underscored the value of bringing global expertise to Singapore. Central to this was a fireside chat between IMDA’s Chairman, Russell Tham, and Microsoft’s Vice Chair and President, Brad Smith. Their dialogue on the "#AI frontier" highlights how these high-level exchanges define our path forward in innovation and governance. 🚀 The conversation continues at ATxSummit this May. 🎟️ Secure your spot: https://lnkd.in/gNiDE85S #IMDA #ATxSG Asia Tech x Singapore

#ATxInspire. At IMDA, while we do not organise ATxInspire events regularly and typically time them to coincide with visits by prominent tech personalities, they never fail to deliver. A year-round companion to the ATxSummit, ATxInspire brings together industry, government, and academia to shape the future of tech. This latest edition, held this afternoon at Capital Theatre, is no exception - it featured Brad Smith, Microsoft’s Vice Chair and President, who regularly tackles difficult, high-level policy issues in his public appearances. In his wide-ranging conversation with IMDA’s Chairman, Russell Tham, he shared his insights on how being a general purpose technology like electricity, AI will be transformational but may exacerbate the North-South divide. He also drew a distinction between innovation vs diffusion in AI. He offered some useful advice – public policies should be steered towards building AI infrastructure and investing in skills; while at the personal level, being curious and staying humble would be how we can remain relevant in the age of AI. Gave the audience so much food for thought. Fully expect to dive deeper into these topics at the annual ATxSummit, which is about 1.5 months away. In the meantime, I look forward to reading the book Brad recommended – Open to Work: How to Get Ahead in the Age of AI by Ryan Roslansky and Aneesh Raman from LinkedIn. #IMDA #IMDigitalArchitect #ATxSG #RedefiningTech

Data Centres (DCs) are the beating heart of Singapore's #DigitalEconomy. But what does it really cost to keep that beating in the tropics?   At over 30°C with 82% humidity year-round, Singapore's climate makes cooling a major source of DCs’ power consumption. The Tropical Data Centre (TDC) Standard addressed that head on, giving operators a proven path to running more efficiently without fighting the climate they operate in.    Digital Realty was among the first to realise significant energy savings by working closely with one of its whole-sale customers to adopt the TDC standard. BDx Data Centers pioneered a Temperature Increase Program (TIP) based on the TDC standard for its many retail customers and significantly reduced cooling-energy consumption while maintaining 100% IT equipment uptime.   #IMDA continues to back the sector beyond the standard. The Energy Efficiency Grant supports DC users in upgrading to more energy-efficient IT equipment, making sustainable operations accessible across the board alongside the refreshed Green Mark for DCs certification.   The foundation for a more #Sustainability-driven digital economy is already being built. Singapore is proof it works. Find out more about how else Singapore's DCs are raising the bar: https://lnkd.in/gfCDeEuD   #IMDigitalArchitect

Are Singaporeans truly safe on social media? Find out from our latest Online Safety Assessment Report! 📊   The report assesses the online safety measures that designated Social Media Services (DSMSs) have in place to enhance user safety and mitigate risks from harmful content.   Most DSMSs have stepped up, taking action on your reports of harmful content with greater speed and frequency. However, areas of weakness remain. In particular, we have issued Letters of Caution to X and TikTok and placed them under Enhanced Supervision to improve their efforts in detecting and removing child sexual exploitation and abuse material and terrorism content respectively, so these content do not get into your feed.   With ever-changing online risks, we’re keeping the platforms accountable, ensuring they stay vigilant and continue to strengthen safety measures.   👉 Check out the full report here: https://lnkd.in/gwCADJy6
