  • Lots of people believe this movie was overhyped, but I can't understand that. Not only is the acting nearly perfect, but the set design was almost unbelievable, and the message is heart-warming. Overall, it's a really enjoyable watch that probably gets overlooked by some just because it became so heavily memed.

  • This movie was one of the best surprises of 2023. What could have been a cheap movie to cash in on a recognizable property was instead an emotional, yet joyful exploration of gender and purpose. Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling's comedic talents have often gone underappreciated, but here they showcase their full range, as Barbie goes through her crisis of identity, and Ken learns of patriarchy, and how to overcome such limiting perspectives and be himself. Not to mention a cast that allowed established stars and newcomers to shine. All wrapped in a gorgeous world, from production values to effects, it feels like a crime that WB have yet to allow viewers to see it in a studio tour kind of exhibition. It is undoubtable that companies will be trying to replicate this success for sometime, but I can't see anyone catching lightning in a bottle like Gerwig did.

  • I absolutely adored Barbie and watching it in theaters multiple times. Not only was it entertaining and plain fun, bathed in bright pink hues and gorgeous scenery and costuming, it shared so many important messages.

  • I had very low expectations when it came to a live-action Barbie movie, but I was happily surprised. This movie, led by Margo Robbie and America Ferrera, is entertaining, emotional, and touches on important themes. I frequently think about America Ferrera's monologue about the contradictions of being a woman – which also resonates with me as someone who was socialized as a girl in childhood and gets perceived as a woman, even though nonbinary. Ultimately, Barbie was arguably one of the best movies of the year, even beating out its competitor Oppenheimer in my opinion.

  • I really enjoyed it when I first saw it, but unfortunately haven't really cared for it as much as time goes on. However, that doesn't take away from the fact that it's still a great film. Visually, the film delivered everything that you would expect from a live-action film about one of the most fashionable dolls of all time. The whole cast had great performances and the message of the film is what a lot of audiences needed to hear. Even though I don't enjoy it as much now, it's still an incredibly fun movie that I'd revisit every now and then.
