Reacher star Maria Sten's newest update on the action thriller's upcoming spinoff is great news after the franchise's confirmed 2026 return. The highly popular Prime Video series pulls from the pages of Lee Child's Jack Reacher book series, offering a wide array of action crime mysteries for its titular character. It's become one of the most successful shows on its home streaming platform.

As of writing, there's already a bright future ahead for the series as a whole. Reacher season 4 wrapped filming in November 2025, with confirmation the show will be coming back in late 2026. In addition, the series has already been renewed for season 5, which is currently in the process of being written. But the franchise is also planning a big expansion that was worryingly quiet, until now.

That expansion comes in the form of Neagley, a spinoff focused on the major Reacher character of the same name, played by Maria Sten. The show follows Neagley as she uncovers a conspiracy tied to one of her friends' deaths. However, there's been little news about the show despite it wrapping production before Reacher season 3 even started filming.

Luckily, Sten posted to Instagram with a behind-the-scenes video of Neagley, showing her being raised high into the air while surrounded by blue screens. In the post, the actor described the spinoff as "taking stuff to a whole new level," teasing it'll be a much different experience from Reacher. Her post also coincides with previous confirmation the spinoff will air in 2026, making the next seven months crucial for the series' franchise expansion.

Neagley's Spinoff Needs A "New Level" To Stand Apart From Reacher

Sten's tease about how different Neagley is going to be is good news for the show, especially because it will be airing in the same year as Reacher season 4. The original series relies on a multitude of moving parts for its thrills, but most especially the physical action of its main protagonist. Standing well above six feet, Reacher's commanding presence allows for a multitude of physical fight sequences.

However, Neagley has to rely on her wits and strategy much more in her approaches to dangerous situations. This was seen most recently in Reacher season 3, when she took out an entire assassination squad in her office building. The intensity shows where her strengths lie, and how her upcoming show can utilize them to make it stand apart from the parent series.

Reacher’s Confirmed 2026 Return Means It Will Achieve A Rare Streaming Feat On Prime Video

Reacher is all set to return in 2026 with its fourth instalment, which seemingly allows it to achieve a rare and impressive streaming television feat.

Having "a new level" to the action also indicates approaches for wild stunts that are going to be crucial to how the series differentiates itself from the predecessor. The fact Neagley is seemingly going to fall from a major height, gun in hand, signals some crucial action sequences that will be much different, yet still familiar, to the way Reacher initiates its own stunts.

The same goes for the story, which will see Neagley teaming up with a whole host of new characters in order to get justice for her deceased friend. This includes a conspiracy being blown wide open, similar to Reacher, but with personal stakes that mirror the other show with plenty of high-octane differences that keep it from being a direct reflection.

After The Boys & Bosch, Reacher Could Become Another Hit Multi-Show Franchise For Prime Video

In addition to providing a differently-presented story to Reacher, Neagley could be the start of another hit Prime Video franchise comprised of multiple shows. The Bosch series was the first to adopt this trend, with the main show followed by Bosch: Legacy and the ongoing Ballard spinoff. The Boys is also building out its own shared universe, first with the now-cancelled Gen V and now with the upcoming Vought Rising prequel show.

Prime Video is no stranger to building large universes for its successful shows, making Reacher the perfect candidate for yet another shared universe of TV series. Neagley could be the first stepping stone in this regard, with its performance on the platform determining if the action thriller show can become a full-fledged TV franchise.

Since it seems poised to deliver on its action-packed premise, Neagley could not only be very different from Reacher, but the start of a lucrative future for both shows. So long as it continues to maintain the action-packed thrills and engaging character writing that makes the first show so good, the spinoff seems poised to be a memorable installment in the growing action franchise.
