Enemies | Pragmata Wiki

From Pragmata Wiki

Enemies in Pragmata are hostile machines and corrupted constructs encountered throughout the lunar facility known as the Cradle. Controlled by the rogue AI system, most enemies rely on reinforced armor, ranged attacks, aggressive rush strikes, and coordinated swarms to overwhelm Hugh and Diana. Learning how to break defenses quickly, reposition under pressure, and manage resources (including the every-changing roster of weaponry) is key to surviving later encounters.

Unlike standard action games, enemy encounters in Pragmata revolve around the cooperation between both protagonists. Hugh handles movement, aiming, and weapons, while Diana uses her hacking abilities to expose vulnerabilities in enemy armor. Battles become more demanding when multiple enemy types attack at once, forcing players to multitask between dodging, solving hacks, and firing accurately.

Enemy Combat Basics

Most enemy bots cannot be damaged efficiently until Diana disables their armor. Enter Activating a hack opens a puzzle grid where players guide a path to the green goal node. Completing the sequence disrupts defenses and reveals weak points, allowing Hugh to deal full damage. Some nodes can grant extra combat bonuses, making quick and efficient hacks even more valuable.

Mechanic Description
Hacking Armor Use Diana's real-time hacking panel to disable enemy protection and expose weak points.
Mobility Dash, strafe, and use Hugh's thrusters to avoid melee charges, projectiles, and area attacks.
Weapon Rotation Many weapons are temporary, so swap often and use stronger units when elites appear.
Crowd Control Tactical tools such as slowing, stunning, or explosive units help against swarms.
Target Priority Eliminate ranged attackers and fast rush enemies first before slower heavy units.

Enemy Types

Enemy rosters evolve throughout the story. Early zones introduce standard patrol bots and simple melee machines, while later sectors add shielded elites, aerial threats, explosive units, and larger boss-class constructs. Many late-game encounters combine several types at once, testing awareness and weapon management.

Category Description
Light Units Fast-moving basic enemies that emphasize pressure in numbers.
Ranged Units Bots that fire from cover or elevated positions while other enemies advance.
Heavy Units Durable enemies with stronger armor and punishing close-range attacks.
Boss Units Major story encounters with multiple phases, larger arenas, and unique mechanics.

Tips for Defeating Enemies

  • Keep moving during hacks instead of standing still.
  • Save high-damage weapons for armored elites or bosses.
  • Use terrain and cover when ranged enemies are present.
  • If surrounded, create space first, then begin hacking.
  • Upgrade combat systems at the Shelter whenever possible.
  • Learn attack tells—many heavy strikes can be dodged cleanly with timing.
