We’ve strengthened the company, delivered on our commitments and continued to innovate in a changing environment. We have built momentum, but there is still more work ahead. As we enter this next phase, the focus is clear: scaling our AI-enabled, platform-based innovation and accelerating profitable growth – delivering better care for more people. Roy Jakobs vond dit interessantRoy Jakobs vond dit interessantSamen aan de slag in Parkstad De toekomst van de zorg zien we bij Zuyderland iedere dag: een groeiende zorgvraag, meer kwetsbare ouderen en tegelijkertijd minder mensen om al die zorg te leveren. Veel van de uitdagingen waar Nederland de komende jaren voor staat, zijn in Parkstad vandaag al voelbaar. Juist daarom is dit ook de plek waar nieuwe oplossingen kunnen ontstaan. Vandaag zetten we daarin een volgende stap. Samen met Philips, Gemeente Heerlen, CZ, Maastricht University, Maastricht UMC+, Provincie Limburg, Brightlands Smart Services Campus en Zuyd University of Applied Sciences ondertekenden we tijdens Cultura Nova een Letter of Intent. Door zorg, onderwijs, kennis, overheid en bedrijfsleven bij elkaar te brengen, willen we niet alleen de zorg verbeteren. We willen ook nieuwe kennis en bedrijvigheid ontwikkelen en jonge mensen perspectief bieden om hier te leren, werken en blijven. Voor Zuyderland betekent dat: zorg zoveel mogelijk naar mensen toe brengen. Thuis, in de wijk en digitaal als dat kan. En in het ziekenhuis als dat nodig is. Denk bijvoorbeeld aan: • technologie die verpleegkundigen ondersteunt; • telemonitoring waardoor patiënten niet voor iedere controle naar het ziekenhuis hoeven; • ondersteuning voor kwetsbare ouderen thuis, voordat een situatie escaleert; • specialistische ziekenhuiszorg beschikbaar houden voor de mensen die die echt nodig hebben. Leonne Prompers MD, PhD, voorzitter van het Medisch Specialistisch Bedrijf en lid van de Bestuursraad van Zuyderland: “De zorgvraag blijft groeien, terwijl we weten dat het aantal beschikbare zorgprofessionals niet in hetzelfde tempo kan meegroeien. Dat vraagt dat we zorg anders organiseren: meer in netwerken, dichter bij mensen thuis waar dat kan en ondersteund door digitalisering en technologie. Dat kunnen we als ziekenhuis niet alleen.” Juist daarin zit de kracht van de samenwerking die vandaag is gestart. Zoals bestuursvoorzitter Esther Talboom-Kamp het tijdens de ondertekening verwoordde: “Vernieuwing ontstaat uiteindelijk niet op papier, maar in de praktijk. Bij onze patiënten, bij onze medewerkers, thuis en in de wijk, in het ziekenhuis en samen met onze partners.” Daar zetten we ons als Zuyderland graag voor in 🩵

We were joined by Eindhoven mayor Jeroen Dijsselbloem, Gilbert Gooijers, Chairman of VNO-NCW Brabant Zeeland, and other companies from the Brainport region. We had the opportunity to show how Philips creates meaningful innovation here in the Netherlands. From our sites in Best, Drachten, Eindhoven and Amsterdam, we innovate and produce high-end health technology for personal health, diagnosis and minimally invasive treatment. To maintain this innovation and production base, the Netherlands needs a stable and competitive business climate. VNO-NCW is an important partner in bringing that message to politicians, policymakers and other stakeholders. We showcased innovations like Azurion, which supports the treatment of stroke, heart disease and cardiovascular disease, and our BlueSeal MRI technology that helps diagnostic departments be more resilient by reducing the need for helium. Thank you, Coen, Jeroen and Gilbert, for the constructive conversation and your interest in the innovation taking place in Best.

Op 26 en 27 september organiseren we in het Philips Museum, samen met NextGen AI, voor het eerst AI For Kids. Tijdens een workshop maken kinderen hun eigen digitale assistent en kiezen ze uit verschillende rollen: kunstenaar, muziekproducent, gameontwikkelaar of avonturenschrijven. We have received a $34 million award from the Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health (ARPA-H) in the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). It's part of their Autonomous Interventions and Robotics (AIR) program. I see this as a critical milestone and part of something much bigger. I believe the next evolution is about a different challenge: how do we extend the reach to many more patients? Working alongside The Johns Hopkins University, Boston University, and others, we are developing technologies for remote-assisted -- and increasingly automated endovascular procedures. We know how image-guided therapy is already transforming what is possible for patients—allowing us to treat stroke, heart disease, cancer, and other conditions through tiny incisions rather than major surgery. Modern-day surgery without a scalpel is already here. In acute stroke, time is brain. Yet more than half of Americans live over an hour from a center capable of performing a thrombectomy, and only about 12% of eligible patients ever receive one. Bringing together advanced imaging, #AI, automation, and robotics is not about removing the physician from the room. It is about augmenting clinical precision and dramatically expanding the reach of expert care -- to wherever patients need it most. Roy Jakobs vond dit interessantRoy Jakobs vond dit interessantI’m excited to share that Philips has been selected for an ARPA-H award of up to $33.7 million to help advance AI-enabled robotic stroke care. For me, this is about driving #AccessToCare. Each year, around 335,000 people in the U.S. are eligible for thrombectomy, a minimally invasive procedure that can reverse the effects of #stroke and help prevent long-term disability. However, only about 12% receive the treatment and many more live more than an hour from a hospital equipped to provide this specialized care. Together with Johns Hopkins University, Boston University, and Dr. J Mocco of Weill Cornell Medicine, we’ll build on our Azurion image guided therapy platform to explore how imaging, robotics and AI-enabled automation can support clinicians across planning, navigation and remote collaboration. The goal is not to replace clinical expertise, but make it more scalable and accessible so more patients can receive the right care when every minute matters. Mijn bachelortijd sloot ik af binnen de AI-track met mijn scriptie: "How does the timing of disclosure in deepfaked B2C advertising influence perceived source trustworthiness and purchase intention?", beoordeeld met een 8.2. Daarnaast was mijn exchange aan de Università Bocconi in Milaan een fantastische ervaring, waar ik mijn perspectief verbreedde met vakken als Venture and Development Capital, Global Sustainability Strategy, Business Strategy, Global History en International Relations. Sinds februari ben ik daarnaast als consultant actief bij de Young Advisory Group (YAG), waar we als studenten hoogwaardige strategische vraagstukken oppakken voor uiteenlopende organisaties. Hier heb ik onlangs met veel plezier mijn eerste project voor Techniek Nederland succesvol mogen afronden. Op sportief gebied kende het afgelopen jaar een absolute droomafsluiting. Met Koninklijke Haagsche Cricket en Voetbal Vereeniging (HVV 1) promoveerden we van de 1e klasse naar de 4e divisie, een historisch niveau waar de club voor het laatst in het seizoen 1931/1932 speelde. Vanaf september begin ik aan de master Financial Economics aan de Erasmus School of Economics om mijn financiële en analytische vaardigheden verder te verdiepen. Ik kijk er enorm naar uit om deze nieuwe stap te zetten en mijn studie vol energie te blijven combineren met YAG en HVV.

In Groeiplan MedTech zet de sector uiteen hoe technologische innovaties, bijvoorbeeld met AI, daaraan kunnen bijdragen. Onze CEO Roy Jakobs legt uit dat technologie een middel is om de zorg slimmer te organiseren en uitkomsten voor de patiënt te verbeteren. Maar dat kan alleen als we samenwerken aan een zorgsysteem dat betere zorg voor meer mensen mogelijk maakt, nu en in de toekomst.

The Clear.bio app is CE-marked and offers users real-time insights into their glucose data, combined with tailored nutritional advice. By leveraging advanced technology, Clear.bio enables people to effectively manage their health and optimize diabetes control. “This investment allows us to empower more individuals to take charge of their health and expand our proven solution internationally,” says founder Piet Hein van Dam (PhD).”“There are 70 million patients in Europe, all of whom deserve a chance to get rid of this disease without medication.” Diabetes type 2 continues to rise across Europe. Effective medication is around, but expensive and merely treating the disease instead of curing it. Clear.bio collaborates with healthcare professionals, investors, academic institutions and insurers to make personalized care widely accessible.
