I’m excited to see a new chapter of software-enabled production come to life across Europe. Following the launch of our software-based HG 31 OB in Australia, NEP Europe has reached the next major milestone with EU-03 — a redesigned outside broadcast unit built around a powerful software-defined platform. With ST 2110 IP infrastructure, hybrid workflows, and dynamical orchestration tools, EU-03 gives broadcasters and rightsholders greater flexibility, efficiency, and reliability — while future-proofing production through software-driven innovation. This is the continued evolution of live production — more adaptable, more intelligent, and built for what’s next.

Why IP Director is a Game-Changer — Even If You’re Not an EVS Operator From concerts and entertainment shows to the biggest global events like the Olympic Games — media management, highlights, playlists, and content publishing are all handled inside the EVS ecosystem. And at the heart of it: IP Director. If you work in production — especially in OB vans — understanding IP Director dramatically increases your creative power. You don’t need to operate the system yourself to benefit. Quite the opposite: ✅ You will finally know what you can demand from your EVS team ✅ You will communicate faster and get better results on air ✅ You will make smarter editorial and technical decisions One month ago, a TV director told me: “I don’t want to become an EVS operator. But I must understand what I can require from the EVS room.” Exactly. When you know your resources — you create a better show. When you speak the language of replay — you deliver more. That’s why we built the IP Director VOD course at University of Television. It gives you the core knowledge that every modern director, producer, and AP needs. 🔥 You also gain access to our international support team in Poland, Germany, Canada, and Australia. 📚 And soon, we will be ready with our new human-written manual/book — we are finishing it right now. 🎓 Start learning IP Director today and take control of your production: 👉 https://lnkd.in/g5FqNdmA If you’re working in the broadcast industry — this knowledge is no longer optional. This is the new standard. Watch. Learn. Broadcast.

Great to be back in Amsterdam last week for DVB World 2026, where DVB‑I took the spotlight as the foundation for our hybrid, IP‑centric future. While the focus was rightly on innovation around DVB’s third phase — blending broadcast and broadband — one topic that wasn’t front and center still matters deeply: DRM. As services evolve and DVB‑NIP rolls out globally, we’ll need robust, flexible protection designed for connected and unconnected environments. Security and user experience must move forward together if DVB‑I is truly to become the “glue for a hybrid world.” A fascinating week — and clear proof that the next phase of DVB will depend as much on smart content protection as on delivery innovation. Exciting times for the next generation of TV! #DVBWorld2026 #DVB #AI #HybridMedia #Streaming #EZDRM #DRMaaS #PEM #C2PA

Congratulations to the NEP Europe team on the launch of EU-03 — the next major milestone in our software solutions transformation of live production, building on the momentum of HG 31 in Australia. This is about more than an upgraded OB unit. It reflects our strategy to lead the market with intelligent, IP-based, software-defined media services that gives broadcasters and rightsholders greater flexibility, scalability, and confidence in how they deliver live content. As live production continues to evolve, we remain focused on investing in innovation that creates a real competitive advantage for our customers, across Europe and around the world.

SDI Is Not Dead — But It Is No Longer Enough In recent years, discussions around broadcast infrastructure often sound like a battle between SDI and IP. In reality, this is a false choice. SDI is not dead, and it continues to serve broadcast operations reliably across the world. However, on its own, SDI is no longer sufficient to meet the demands of modern broadcasting. SDI was designed for a time when broadcast workflows were linear, centralised, and hardware-driven. Its strengths are well known: deterministic performance, low latency, and operational simplicity. For fixed studios and mission-critical live production, SDI remains a dependable foundation. The challenge arises when broadcasters attempt to scale beyond traditional workflows. Today’s operations require multi-platform distribution, remote contribution, faster deployment, and the ability to adapt quickly to changing production needs. In these scenarios, SDI-based systems become increasingly rigid and costly to expand. IP-based workflows introduce flexibility that SDI struggles to provide. They allow broadcasters to decouple signal routing from physical infrastructure, enable remote and distributed production, and integrate more easily with cloud and virtualised environments. For executives, this translates into improved scalability and better alignment between technology investment and business growth. From a technical standpoint, this shift does not diminish the importance of engineering discipline. In fact, hybrid environments demand even more careful design. Engineers must manage timing, network performance, interoperability, and security across both SDI and IP domains. The ability to operate confidently in both worlds is now a core competence. The most practical approach for many broadcasters is not to replace SDI outright, but to extend it intelligently with IP. Hybrid SDI–IP architectures allow organisations to protect existing investments while gradually adopting new workflows. This measured transition reduces risk and builds operational confidence. In conclusion, SDI remains relevant, but it can no longer operate in isolation. Broadcasters that combine the reliability of SDI with the flexibility of IP will be best positioned to respond to evolving audience expectations and industry realities. I am not in Amsterdam this week but even from a distance the momentum of IBC - International Broadcasting Convention ’s second day is hard to miss. Emerging themes are loud and clear. AI powered personalization and metadata enrichment are reshaping broadcast workflows. Cloud native gateways and smarter delivery networks are pushing IP production and distribution into new territory. Dynamic HDR conversion and 5G over broadcast experiments hint at more flexible higher quality viewing experiences. Studio robotics and automation are showing how leaner teams can do more without sacrificing quality. Beyond the show floor real time voice technology and advanced dubbing platforms are maturing quickly. Captions to dubbing pipelines accent nuance controls and fair compensation frameworks for talent are changing how localization will be done at scale. Behind the scenes asset intelligence tools are quietly making inventory licensing and maintenance smarter which are critical foundations for any studio or integrator preparing to scale. For broadcasters and dubbing studios in Africa these are not distant curiosities. They are signals pointing to where audiences workflows and cost structures are heading. What signals are you watching most closely as IBC continues? #IBC2025 #BroadcastTech #MediaInnovation #AIInMedia #Dubbing #WorkflowEngineering #AfricanMedia

This is a very interesting move. .. NEP is strategically transitioning TFC to a Software as a Service (SaaS) model to meet the evolving needs of broadcasters. This shift is driven by several key factors: 🔹 **Market Demand:** Broadcasters are seeking flexible, cloud-based, and scalable solutions, aligning with the industry's current requirements. 🔹 **Operational Efficiency:** SaaS offers advantages such as quicker deployment, seamless updates, and reduced client-side IT burden, enhancing overall operational efficiency. 🔹 **Revenue Strategy:** Moving to a subscription-based model ensures a steady stream of income, replacing traditional one-time sales and providing business stability for NEP. 🔹 **Future Readiness:** Embracing SaaS technology positions NEP in line with the industry's trajectory towards remote production and virtualization trends. **Impact on Clients:** Pros: 🔹 Reduced initial expenses 🔹 Scalability on demand 🔹 Access to up-to-date features continuously Cons: ❌ Potential long-term higher costs ❌ Increased dependency on NEP's infrastructure **Competitive Landscape Impact:** ➡️ Drives the industry towards IP and cloud-based workflows. ➡️ Encourages competitors (and its own suppliers such as Lawo, EVS, Imagine, Ross, GV,...) to accelerate their development of cloud-native, SaaS-compatible tools to stay relevant in the market. ➡️ Sets a higher standard for integration, flexibility, and user experience, prompting competitors to ensure their solutions match TFC's interoperability (notably through APIs or NMOS standards) ➡️ Creates a barrier to entry for smaller providers lacking resources to maintain robust cloud platforms. The shift to SaaS by NEP signifies a strategic move to cater to market demands, enhance operational efficiency, ensure revenue stability, and align with future industry trends.
