Kodama are special NPCs that you can interact with in Nioh 3. You can find them in various locations and will be guided to the closest shrine. Your kind gesture will be met with an equal reward and they will give you a blessing appropriate for the Location that you are exploring. In the previous game, guiding all of the Kodama can also unlock trophies and achievements. It is expected that a similar feature and mechanic will return to Nioh 3.
Kodama are little green spirits that you can often find resting on top of Shrines
What are Kodamas in Nioh 3?
- A Kodama is thought to be a tree spirit that transformed upon coming into contact with human tools that have been lovingly used for great periods of time. While the tree spirits are deeply connected to the gods who govern this earth, they are largely emotionless beings. A Kodama, on the other hand, brims with curiosity, much like an innocent child. It tends to grow attached to the human tool that gave it new life, and will not part with it willingly Some even say that the yokai is not the tree spirit, but the tool itself.
- Driven by its curiosity, the Kodama finds its way into many unusual places. However, perhaps due to its arboreal origins, it has a poor sense of both direction and distance, and often loses its bearings. If you ever chance upon a disoriented Kodama in your travels, direct it to the nearest shrine- a Kodama never forgets its debts, and its deep connections to the gods will surely pay off eventually.
Kodama Guide in Nioh 3
Kodama are little green spirits that you can often see resting on top of Shrines when you discover them. However, some Kodama are lost in the world and will need to be guided back to nearby Shrines. The more Kodama you find on your journey, the number of elixirs you can use will be increased.
While some can be found on Shrines, others are lost in the world and can be found at enemy bases guarding a chest or in random locations. If found at enemy bases, you will need to clear out the enemies and capture the base. Interact with the Kodama guarding the chest to guide it back to a nearby shrine.
Kodama are neither God, nor Yokai. They inhabit trees, and also man-made objects as well. They have childish, adorable appearances. Kodama generally remain near the shrines of their forests, but occasionally become lost and wander.
