Monster Hunter Wilds Game Developments

During the Monster Hunter Wilds - Pre-Launch Community Update, Community Managers Jonno and Joe, Translator Patrick, along with Director Yuya Tokuda, highlighted the latest improvements to the game. They discussed key updates, including performance enhancements, sound effect refinements, weapon adjustments, and more, addressing all the issues the open beta testers raised.

Performance Improvements for All Platforms

The first thing Yuya Tokuda discussed are the changes to the performance. They previewed the current version of the game running on PlayStation 5, and on first look, you can already see that the game appears more heavy and responsive. The hits are more weighty, and every move from both the hunter and the monster appear more connected. Mr. Tokuda also highlighted that they were able to fix the rendering bug during the OBT (Open Beta Test). In the current version, they were able to run the game at their target 4k Resolution at 60FPS for Prioritize Framerate, and 4k Resolution at 30 FPS for Prioritize Graphics. And as a treat for the PlayStation 5 Pro owners, Yuya said that the specific console will have even better graphics, and they're planning to release a patch on Day 1 (February 28, 2025) that will make it compatible with the Enhanced Pro features that is coming out soon.

performance post obt updates monster hunter wilds mh wilds homepage wiki guide

As for other consoles, they're also targeting the same numbers for XBox X, while XBox S is lower at 1080 Resolution with 30FPS. The PC or Steam version will largely depend on the hardware and settings of the users but they're all working on improving the game performance across all platforms before the launch. Lastly, Yuya also mentioned that they may be able to reduce the minimum recommended graphics board specs to allow more players to access the game, and that they're considering a PC Benchmark tool that will let players check if their hardware is compatible with the game.

Gameplay Changes: Hitstops, Sound Effects, Monster Locations, and Friendly Fire

One major concern raised by the community during the open beta test was the lack of impactful weapon effects, with players seeking a stronger sense of "punch" in their attacks. Yuya Tokuda acknowledged that the hitstop and sound effects during the beta did not meet the standards of previous games. To address this, the team has made significant adjustments to enhance the hitstop and sound effects in the current version, particularly for big moves and finishers across all weapons. These improvements aim to deliver a more satisfying and immersive combat experience for the release of Monster Hunter Wilds.

2 post obt updates monster hunter wilds mh wilds homepage wiki guide

Additionally, the team also addressed the Mitigation of friendly fire and made adjustments across most weapon types. They toned down some of the effects, specifically the Wyvern Fire of the Gun Lance so it's more manageable for players. They also mentioned that the full version will allow players to wear decorations like Shockproof Jewel to nullify damage reactions from friendlies.

Lastly in Gameplay Changes, Yuya Tokuda also addressed questions from the community regarding the behavior of some Monsters where they frequently changed locations. He said that there was a bug that affected the monster locations, making them move more frequently that intended during the OBT. In the final version, monsters will continue to move between different areas, similar to Monster Hunter: World behavior. However, monsters at the top of the food chain will be situated in deeper areas of the map, further away from base camps. To support this feature, players will also be able to fast-travel between Pop-up Camps and Main Camps in the full version of Monster Hunter Wilds.

New Weapon Adjustments in MH Wilds

Insect Glaive Changes

According to Yuya, the current version of the Insect Glaives will be further developed in the final version. He said that just like the Insect Glaive, other weapons including Switch Axe, Lance, and Sword & Shield will be getting the most adjustments. First off the list, the Vaulting Dance will make its return to MH Wilds, a move that is focused on aerial attack of the IG. The players will be able to create a combo after vaulting, making Vaulting Dance a standard move for IG users.
  • There will also be some changes to the Kinsect extracts wherein the Orange essence will now negate knockback while the weapon is drawn, and the Red + White + Orange will mitigate Wind Pressure, Tremors, and Roars. However, despite the concerns raised by the beta testers about the difficulty that comes with executing the Descending Slash, Yuya said that he did try operating it himself and found it to be tricky. In the end, he discussed it with other team members and made a decision to leave the playstyle as is for now.
  • Aerial Attack will also be empowered by two levels with each vault of the hunter.

Switch Axe Changes

Yuya highlighted that the adjustments made to Switch Axe focuses on the basic cycle of how the weapon is used. Typically, the Switch Axe begins by building up the power in Axe Mode, and then switching to Sword Mode to unleash that power. The Switch Axe, in that sense remains the same, but they made adjustments to various attacks in Sword Mode, that will make it more at par with the gauge consumption. In response to the concerns of the players that building up the Axe Mode was far too difficult, they adjusted the power and feel of several moves with the Switch Axe to address that.
  • Various adjustments were made so that switching to Sword Mode after building the Axe Mode gauge will feel more satisfying.
  • Made small adjustments like shortening the time after a Counter Rising Slash to make it more usable.
  • Added Parameter improvements to various moves, including Full Release Slash.
  • Knockback is now negated when using the Full Release Slash move, and now feels like the more powerful finisher move that it was intended for.

Lance Changes

Some of the changes coming to the Lance weapon are the modifications of its basic moves like Charge Counter, Power Guard, and Perfect Guard. The Charge Counter will now allow guarding while charging, and can be chained into from any other move. The Power Guard will now be able to charge to higher levels more quickly when used to successfully defend against a more powerful monster attack. Lastly, the Perfect Guard and Power Guard can now be chained into a new move.
  • In the Pre-Launch community update, Yuya Tokuda (Director) mentioned that one of the big change that they've brought back to Wilds is the Counterthrust move. This move will allow players to counter and wait for the attack of the larger monsters, while also giving hunters the option to launch a Fly Guard or Power Guard. This change will allow players to read into the move of the monster and adjust their next move accordingly.
  • They also made adjustments to "accidental" moves, while expanding the moveset of the Lance. According to Yuya, he mentioned that there are instances where moves are executed unintentionally, and to address this issue, they will be refining moveset of the Lance, speeding up the cancellation timing of Guard Dash to make the Lance feel better than ever.
  • In the preview, they showed the Lance being able to withstand an attack from a Large Monster. The stance was maintained after the monster executed its move, then pulled off a counter attack.

Sword & Shield Changes

During the Pre-Launch Community Update, Yuya Tokuda talked about making adjustments to the bread-and-butter moves of the Sword & Shield weapon making it more usable. He said that it is a bit different from previous titles, like the buttons for executing the moves. He also addressed that the other attacks of the Sword & Shield have been increased across the board, and made the response and feel of various actions more responsive.
  • Rising Slash can now be used while guarding.
  • Parameter improvements to various attacks, especially normal attacks, and Perfect Rush.
  • Improved the responsiveness of the mobile Chop and Side Slash combo, as well as Guard Slash and Perfect Rush.
  • Improved evasion effectiveness of Backstep and Sliding Swipe.

Other Weapon Changes

  • Rebalancing the Bow with increased attack power and responsiveness of moves such as normal attacks and Arc Shots, while tonight down the power of Tracer shots.
  • When targeting a monster with Focus Strike, multiple wounds are now locked one one by one with a brief delay in between rather than all at once.
  • General wide-ranging adjustments to skills and elemental values to balance for full game content, including Endgame.
  • Overall adjustments to hit detection and low damage output compared to past MH titles.
  • Yuya Tokuda also mentioned that they want each weapon to feel a truly unique concept on its own. To achieve this, they want to reduce the range of Bows so that it's balanced across the board, instead of reducing the damage values of certain weapons. They've also made adjustments to improve the connection between actions and how the attacks are chained.
  • More changes are expected to come to the Hunting Horn. The melody effects is designed to be a supporting weapon, but is powerful enough to be a main weapon in MH Wilds. While keeping that in mind, they want to make adjustments that will make the Hunting Horn achieve the balance as a support weapon.

MH Wilds Weapon Skills Updates

One of the major changes in Monster Hunter Wilds is the introduction of dedicated skills for weapons. In previous Monster Hunter titles, skills were primarily tied to armor, which limited players' customization options. With this new system, players will enjoy greater flexibility and find it easier to switch weapons without sacrificing their preferred builds.

Weapons will focus on offensive skills like Attack Boost or Speed Sharpening, while armor pieces will provide supportive or defensive skills, such as Speed Eating. Yuya Tokuda also confirmed that skills will remain on gear during upgrades, with additional skills becoming available as weapons are enhanced. For instance, a preview of the Hope Blade demonstrated that its base version included Speed Sharpening Level 1. Upon upgrading to Hope Blade III, the weapon gained an additional skill, Critical Eye Level 1, along with increased attack power.

Monster Hunter Wilds will have many familiar skills expected to return, ensuring continuity with previous titles. On top of the pre-built skills of the Weapons, they will also have Decoration slots just like the Armor pieces that will allow players to add more Jewels to their gear and improve the overall effect of their builds.

Another Open Beta Test for MH Wilds?

To conclude the Community Update, Yuya Tokuda said that the team is considering another open beta test to evaluate the newly implemented changes, items, and adjustments, as these were not part of the previous beta. He emphasized their goal of aligning the game’s updates with the Day 1 Patch while giving players who missed the initial beta another opportunity to participate.

MH Wilds Cross-Play Confirmed

As per Capcom, players will have the option to enable or disable the cross-play mechanic in the options, which gives players who are on different platforms the opportunity to play with each other. However, as of now, Cross-Save has not yet been confirmed. Your saved game data will still be managed by each platform separately. This means you can't log in on different platforms and expect to have the same progress as on your other platforms.

MH Wilds World Premier

The development of Monster Hunter Wilds was first announced towards the end of the Game Awards 2023 Presentation, one of the year's largest gaming events, as the final World Premiere of the evening. The game was revealed with a trailer and a release date set to February 28, 2025. Following the trailer reveal, Ryozo Tsujimoto, the Monster Hunter Series producer also took to the stage to answer some questions about what else to expect, and when any upcoming updates will be. He also wanted to share the CAPCOM's 40th anniversary milestone. The game is expected to be available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and on Steam for PC upon release.

MH Wilds will not be released on the Nintendo Switch

Capcom has confirmed that Monster Hunter Wilds will not be releasing on Nintendo Switch. Reason for this is that Capcom wants to "Portray the Maximum of the world of Monster Hunter by utilizing the latest technology to its limit.". The platforms that are capable of executing that concept are Playstation 5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and PC.

MH Wilds Annoucements

After Monster Hunter Wilds was first announced, teasing the game with a trailer during the 2023 Game Awards Presentation PlayStation had a sit down with, Ryozo Tsujimoto, the producer of the Monster Hunter series, for a short interview. He states that the new game features a new level of detailed creatures and ecosystems so players can look forward to new content and a vast new world.

He has also since released a special message for the New Year of 2024; thanking fans for all their positive feedback and support. Monster Hunter will be celebrating their 20th Anniversary in March of 2024, so this will be a special year for Monster Hunter Fans. Not much else has been revealed about the Monster Hunter Wilds game apart from the released trailer.

Players can now also find Monster Hunter Wilds on the PlayStation Store and Steam to add it to their Wishlists. Players can Wishlist the game to receive the latest updates from developers or check back here for any of the latest announcements and updates.

Monster Hunter Wilds Game Trailer Breakdown

  • New Monsters: In the trailer alone, players will be able to catch a glimpse of some new unseen monsters reminiscent of armadillos.
  • Animal Herds: The trailer features a density of monsters in one location, which is slightly different from the less dense encountered in previous games, perhaps hinting at the possibility of a more fast-paced encounter or encounters with herds that could be incorporated in the different quests and objectives available in Monster Hunter Wilds such as being able to interact with the whole herd of Monsters.
  • New Mount: The Mount featured in the trailer also has a unique way to traverse the lands in the game, using a bi-pedal traveling mode, traveling aerially by gliding with its wings, and a faster sprint, using all four legs.
  • Weather Mechanics: Some weather mechanics and lightning were shown in the trailer which could suggest their effects on the environments and perhaps the behavior of the Monsters within certain climates or how some elements interact with certain Monster features
  • Open Environment: The trailer features a vast, open, and dry environment. Since the producer mentioned the addition of new ecosystems, players can look forward to exploring the new environments, vast lands, and new climates and see how it'll affect the hunting experience.

Open World Experience in MH Wilds

More and more games are turning to Open World maps. Maps and Locations in the Monster Hunter series have always been large but were never considered an Open World. The environment featured in the trailer was consistently vast, and dry and had a few recurring features and landmarks to help illustrate the new ecosystem they were building. The vastness of the land, especially the scene focused toward the end of the trailer could suggest a larger map. Additions in a series are always pressured to build something bigger and better and to some, the solution was to evolve the game into an open world. This would be a big step for Monster Hunter should they decide to create an open world map for Monster Hunter Wilds, but would be a challenge to fill in the map with different interactions and keep it consistent.

reveal monster hunter wilds hompage mhw wiki guide 400px4 2

Open World games can tend to have a reputation for being empty and uninteresting in the areas between points of interest, but these could be filled with natural life and seamless interactions such as the herds and stampedes or weather patterns featured in the trailer. The Monster Hunter series has plenty of Endemic Life, large and small Monsters, natural habitats, and Monster Gathering points to populate or fill a map. However, the main focus of Monster Hunter has also been hunting, tracking, action, and Combat, rather than exploration and adventure, which was always a secondary feature in the game

What to Expect in Monster Hunter Wilds

Latest Information for MHW or MH Wilds

In an interview, the development leads of Monster Hunter Wilds discussed how the success of Monster Hunter: World influenced the development of their latest title, Wilds. Capcom Co., LTD (Developer & Publisher) released Monster Hunter: World in 2018. It was their first-ever game released on PC and it became a global hit. The leads, Ryozo Tsujimoto (MH Wilds Producer), Kaname Fujioka (MH Wilds Executive Director & Art Director), and Yuya Tokuda (MH Wilds Director) all agreed by saying that Wilds is what it is today, because of their technological tests, including the gameplay tests they conducted (Open Beta Test in 2024).

Strengthening the Cooperative Aspect

According to Kaname Fujioka, when they released MH: World in 2018, the mainstream games were mostly shooter and competitive modes. They believe that cooperative games could be fun and that's how they were able to grow the Monster Hunter series in Japan. They kept the same ideology and launched World where players could enjoy playing with others by teaming up to take down ferocious monsters. Shortly after its release, it became an instant hit globally. And because of the success of World, they kept the same cooperative mode for MH Wilds and felt confident that they didn't have to change it.

The Felynes as Palico Buddies

Yuya Tokuda, the Director of Wilds said that, when they were working on Monster Hunter World, they were initially told that some global players would not like cutesy design of the Palicoes. However, they kept them as cute as they wanted despite the resistance, and the Felynes turned out to be well-received. In World, Kaname Fujioka added that they designed Palicoes so that they didn't stand out too much and gave them their story. This time, in Wilds, they created unique ones with personality and their proper place.

Monster Behavior Changes

In the previous titles of Monster Hunter, monster behaviors would follow a pattern. There is usually one leader in a pack whose orders are closely followed by the members. However, Yuya Tokuda said that, they changed this behavior in Wilds and they wanted to have each member of the pack to have their individuality as much as possible. Members of the pack now get to decide for themselves how to react in situations where their leader is not present, or if their leader is nearby. For instance, if the leader is far away, they will be able to act on their own, but if their leader is fighting nearby, they may join the fight. They have also added pack variations that will let them act better as individuals while staying in a pack.

Game Design of Monster Hunter Wilds

Executive Director & Art Director Kaname Fujioka said that they were able to create an immersive experience in Monster Hunter World through the depiction of the environment. They wanted to create an immersive experience of being a hunter and hunting and the result of that is Wilds today. It has been something that they've been eyeing to create when they first started making Monster Hunter titles, and they have decided to take things further in Wilds, he added.

This time, they connected camps to stages and made improvements to the hunter's movements. Their goal is to create a connected world without adding loading screens and they are conscious about how much they could add to the world to make it even more immersive. One of the big changes coming to Wilds is that players will experience a World that is constantly changing. They will find changes will take place if they leave an area and come back to it later. Such changes include monsters getting into fights, with one getting away with heavy wounds, while the others remains lie on the ground. These new environments unlock an experience that has never been brought to Monster Hunter titles before, and gives a new meaning to Expeditions.

In MH World, Expeditions are all about exploration, practice, and gathering. With this new game design, players will have a wide scale of exploration with tons of things to do. They will encounter monsters in their habitats and experience being a hunter in a world of predator vs. prey as they travel through the different environments. Their hunts will no longer be interrupted by loading screens, and they will get an environment that is constantly changing.

Yuya Tokuda said that when they first started working on Wilds, their goal was not to create a wide-open space. However, they wanted to properly create the world of Monster Hunter, and the result of that work made the space larger and connected, which is now Wilds today. They have added new elements to discover, unique ecosystems, and biology. Aside from these, the development leads also wanted players to get a better sense of the world they're in by adding interactions between children and the Palicoes. They said that the touch gives the game warmth and innocence, through the proper depiction of children this time.

How Feedback Has Helped Shape Wilds

MH Wilds Producer Ryozo Tsujimoto said that they grew as developers ever since they released MH World. They have a setup that allowed them to learn the problems the players are facing, and so they developed a habit of thinking where the problems may lie, that allowed them to address the issues.

Customizable Pop-Up Camps in MH Wilds

Players will now be able to customize their pop-up camps. There are multiple customizations available allowing players to fully take control of how their camps will appear. They can pick their desired color for the tent sheet using a color wheel and add stickers to show flare and personality. Players can also alter the size, angle, positioning, and opaqueness of these stickers. The best part of it all? Players can hit Revert to Default and start from scratch just in case they change their mind about the current customization.

Pop-Up Camps are player-built camps in the locale where they can manage a variety of options like organizing items, changing the hunter and palico's equipment, etc, but there are still some services in the Base Camp's facilities that will be unavailable. Setting up a Pop-Up Camp is done with a Camping Kit and Fixed item, accessible from the player's Item Bar. Once set up, the camp can be removed, destroyed, and repaired as needed.

Eye color can be customized for both the left and right eyes, and players can select different decorations and pendants to match their style. Additionally, Seikret’s name can also be changed.

Weapon and Armor Skill Integration in MH Wilds

Unlike earlier games where skills were tied only to armor, Monster Hunter Wilds introduces Weapon Skills directly tied to weapons. This change resolves issues where armor-specific skills forced players to stick to certain weapon types, limiting flexibility. The new system encourages experimentation, enabling players to mix and match gear without sacrificing build effectiveness.

Skill Adjustments in MH Wilds

Skill level caps have been rebalanced to ensure variety and prevent over-reliance on dominant abilities. Overpowered skills have reduced caps, while underutilized ones now have increased caps, encouraging players to explore a wider range of abilities. These changes aim to create a more dynamic and balanced hunting experience.

Equipment Skills Overview in MH Wilds

In Monster Hunter Wilds, Equipment Skills are split into two categories:
  • Weapon Skills: Focus on enhancing weapon-specific actions and damage.
  • Armor Skills: Provide utility and support, such as Speed Eating or Divine Blessing.

This separation allows for specialized builds tailored to playstyles. Decorations are now limited by category, and Weapon Skills can only be slotted into Weapons, and Armor Skills into Armor.

Weapons Feature Built-In Equipment Skills in MH Wilds

Monster Hunter Wilds introduces a significant change to the series: Weapons now come equipped with unique Equipment Skills. Early-game weapons feature skills tailored to their types, such as Critical Draw on the Buster Sword I and Focus with Attack Boost on the Bone Blade II. This change integrates seamlessly with the dual-weapon system, enabling players to switch weapons mid-hunt while retaining weapon-specific skills.

Weapon Balancing and Open Beta Feedback in MH Wilds

Adjustments to weapon actions were made following the Open Beta Test to improve gameplay balance and combat feel. Changes include rebalancing damage scaling, refining mechanics, and enhancing the usability of weapons like the Lance, Switch Axe, Sword & Shield, and Insect Glaive. For instance, the Switch Axe’s “Full Release Slash” was reworked to improve its impact and make the cycle leading to the attack more rewarding.

Dual Weapon System and Skill Integration in MH Wilds

Weapon-specific skills are now directly tied to weapons rather than armor, addressing previous limitations in build flexibility. Players can switch between main and sub-weapons without losing core skills. Additional skills can also be added to weapons via accessories, expanding customization options while maintaining the distinction between weapon and armor skill slots.

New Monsters Revealed MH Wilds

Monster Hunter Wilds is set to release in just a few months and there have been exciting reveals! There are more monsters coming in the game and one of them is the Congalala. The Congalala is a large, baboon-like monster that can "fart" offensive smokes that prevent players from using certain items while under its effects. The good thing is, players will be able to use a new item called "Deodorant" to repel the effects and get things back to normal. The hunter can be heard saying "I think I'm going to be sick" when they get farted on by Congalala which indicates that this fart is far more dangerous and must be avoided when hunting this monster.

Aside from the Congalala, there are also other monsters like the Lala Barina, Uth Duna, and Quematrice. The Lala Barina is a spider-like creature found in a rainforest. From a distance, it almost looks like a large red flower until it extends its legs that makes it tower over hunters. The Uth Duna is another monster found in a locale with water and it moves slowly on the ground, which reminds us of the Jyuratodus. However, the Uth Duna has more fins and has a slippery skin. Lastly, we have also seen the Quematrice, which looks like a cross between a Kulu Ya Ku and Anjanath, but its tails have more flap and skin. It has the same tiny legs as the Anjanath, but some of its movements like slamming the ground with its head are very similar to the Kulu Ya Ku's. Aside from that, the Quematrice also have a flesh on the top of its head, similar to a Comb on a chicken's head.

Insect Glaive Adjustments in MH Wilds

The Insect Glaive’s playstyle now emphasizes ground combat, a deliberate shift from its airborne focus in Iceborne. The temporary removal of the “Vaulting Dance” move in the demo aimed to promote new mechanics but received strong feedback from fans. Recognizing its iconic status, the developers reinstated the move, balancing it to work alongside the updated ground-based combat mechanics.

Real-time Mount Access in MH Wilds

Having a Chocobo-looking mount is already a given in Monster Hunter Wilds however, the new trailer shed light on a new mound mechanic where players can call and access their mounts at any point in combat. In the trailer, the hunter was hit with a devastating charge attack up front and started to call his mount to recuperate. The developers confirmed that there will be lots of actions players can perform while riding or dismounting.

We already know that the weather will play a pivotal role in exploration or combat as it can change at any time which has a drastic effect on the player's surroundings. The frequent sandstorms that were shown in the trailer look dangerous as they can impede the player's sight. Especially when got caught up on it. We can see the hunter battling with the newly introduced monster under harsh conditions and fighting in the said condition looks challenging indeed.

Monsters' interactions with one another will still be observed in Monster Hunter Wilds. We can see in the trailer that the smaller predators tried to eat the larger monster. Just like in Monster Hunter World fights can be chaotic and engaging at the same time due to a lot of factors involved such as weather conditions and multiple monster encounters.

Environmental Interaction In MH Wilds

Environmental interaction will be as prevalent as ever as players can take advantage of their surroundings to damage enemy monsters or impede their movements. As mentioned previously, battles will be dynamic due to a lot of factors and environmental interaction is another avenue for players to exploit. In the trailer, the hunter shoots the hanging rocks to slow down the monsters chasing him. After performing this interesting act, the hunter separated the alpha monster from the pact, making him much easier to deal with. It is worth noting that the Hook Slinger will return and this is the tool that the hunter will use to interact with his or her surrounding.

New Weapon Mechanics in MW Wilds

Given all the features being presented in the trailer look exciting, one thing that caught our attention is the newly designed mechanics. In the trailer, we have determined the Greatsword, one of the staple weapons in the game will have new attack animations such as a new kind of stance that may provide some kind of buff that can be beneficial to the hunter. After the said stance, the hunter tried to rush into the target and performed a powerful strike. Another animation that we've noticed for the Greatsword is its locking grind attack which deals continuous damage after the attack lands. This newly designed weapon mechanic is called Focus Mode.

Not only does the Great Sword have a new trick up its sleeve in Monster Hunter Wilds, but also the Heavy Bowgun. Although we've only seen a new charge attack that the hunter performed, its impressive mobility and versatility are beyond expectation. Being able to use a Bowgun (either Heavy or Light) while mounted can lead to a lot of possibilities. The charge attack looks amazing, as it shows the Bowgun's inner parts while charging and blasting the surrounding enemies with an AoE explosion. We can also observe that the hunter can use their weapon to counter enemy attacks such as bites.

The developer of MH:W also makes ranged weapons (Light Bowguns, Heavy Bowguns, and Bows) playstyle more smoothly, now you no longer need to expend resources for base damage sources (normal, pierce, and spread ammo). This means you don't need to worry about replenishing your supplies when you load into different areas. However, for elemental ammo, you still need to expend your resources, to encourage players to plan ahead and manage their supplies in hunting. In addition to that, ranged weapons also get a lot of new actions.

Monster Hunter Wilds also introduces a new weapon mechanic, Focus Strikes, which are special attacks that focus on attacking the monster's weak points and wounds. This mechanic seems to have a special animation for each These attacks will deal extra damage to the monster, allowing the hunter to have added options in dealing with the monster during the hunt. This mechanic seems to be tied with the Focus Mode mechanic and is usable by all the Weapons in Monster Hunter Wilds.

Real-time Weapon Switching in MH Wilds

Combined with real-time access to mounts, players can seamlessly switch between their weapons depending on their current situations. This provides significant versatility against different types of monsters if players will manage their load-outs wisely.

In the recent trailer, the hunter was carrying a Greatsword and a Bowgun, giving him the ability to deal with heavy close-range attacks while also maintaining his versatility by being able to shoot flying targets or even hit enemies from a distance, thanks to the bowgun.

SOS Signal Will Return in MH Wilds

In Monster Hunter World, the SOS signal is a mechanic to call upon other players in a certain run. This can be done anywhere in the map and it seems that Monster Hunter Wild will follow the same format. What this means is, that players can freely explore the world of Wilds and when encountering a challenging adversary, they can call other hunters across the world to help them overcome the danger that lies ahead.

Dynamic Loadouts for MH Wilds

Since we are now aware that players can freely switch weapons at any given time, Hunter or Character Loadouts will completely flesh out the traditional combat of Monster Hunter. Different and dynamic builds will now be possible compared to traditional combat where players can only use a single weapon in a run. This excites us to the core as battles will be exhilarating and will have an emphasis on versatility.

Pop-up Camps in Monster Hunter Wilds

A new tool introduced in Monster Hunter Wilds is the Pop-up Camp. Pop-up Camps are tools that are limited in number, and they function as portable camps for the hunter while out in the field. These camps can serve as waypoints for the player, which can then be used as a place to change equipment or restock items. However, these can be destroyed by monsters if spotted, so the player needs to place them at strategic locations wherein monsters cannot reach them easily.

More About Monster Hunter Wilds

What is Monster Hunter Wilds?

Monster Hunter Wilds is the latest expansion to the Monster Hunter Series. It is considered a main title game, in contrast to their previous release, Monster Hunter Rise, which is instead considered a branch title from the main games. This comes after the previous main title in the series, Monster Hunter World.

The game is expected to keep to the same formula and keep the aspects that fans love about the series while adding some fresh new details, environments, and challenges to give returning Hunters a fresh new experience. New games in the Monster Hunter Series will usually introduce new powerful Monsters so that players can further experience different equipment combinations and create varying builds to suit different Combat encounters. Players can also expect to see new characters and types of Companions. The first reveal trailer already featured the Mount, a new species that could potentially double as the Hunter's companion and aid with combat and storage.

Monster Hunter Wilds Weapons

Since the Monster Hunter series tends to work with the same formula, and returning players may want to utilize some of their favorite weapons to create similar builds from what they're used to, we can expect a lot of our favorite weapons to return to the game. This is consistent throughout the series, with the available weapon categories from the most recent two titles, Monster Hunter World and Monster Hunter Rise, remaining pretty identical:

These weapons in Monster Hunter Wilds will have familiar move sets with added polish and they will incorporate mechanics such as the Focus Mode and Focus Strikes on all the weapons. There are several videos released that showcase the move sets of each of the weapons in MH Wilds, and there are plenty of subtle changes made to the attack animations.

About the Monster Hunter Series

The Monster Hunter series has always stayed true to its formula while evolving the series and introducing new ecosystems and stronger and more powerful Monsters to maintain interest and a loyal fanbase. As its titles suggest, it will carry the central theme of Monster Hunting and carry the same action-packed pace of the previous games in the series. The trailer features a number of herds of Monsters, a new Mount, and different climates and terrain for the main character to conquer.

Hunters will typically create a customized build to suit their unique playstyle and combat approaches from the variety of Weapon and armor types. This collection can grow as more Quests and challenges are tackled by progressing through the game and interacting with different, Characters, NPCs, and Monsters.

Quests and objectives in Monster Hunter Wilds

Quests and Objectives in the Monster Hunter series have been consistent and straightforward with the general objective of monster hunting. The Monster Hunting interactions have always been about fast-paced action and required strategy and a good Build, which are all features that make the Monster Hunter series what it is known for. Aside from the combat interactions, objectives would usually include the ability to track the designated Monster, defeat, or capture a Monster, or obtain a Monster Part to fulfill an objective to progress or gain rewards.

Quests in Monster Hunter have always been sorted as Option Quests, Assignments, Investigations, and Challenges giving hunters a variety of activities to choose from. Certain quests will be tied to specific locations, encounters, or types of tasks, while there will be one main Storyline quest to follow to take you through the main narrative of Monster Hunter Wilds. While other quests and activities may be revisited or repeated, story quests are linear and cannot be redone.
