COMPANY OVERVIEW
Dataprana is a North American digital infrastructure company headquartered in Miami, Florida, specializing in AI and high-performance computing (HPC) data center development. With a 500-megawatt energized site pipeline across multiple U.S. states and an ambitious goal of 5 GW by 2030, we are building a distributed network of mid-scale, modular data centers optimized for speed-to-market deployment.
We provide the infrastructure backbone for current and future data center industry needs, with the capability to deploy faster and leaner than traditional developers. Our approach focuses on land acquisition, power strategy, permitting, and rapid energization—delivering a steady flow of ready-to-build and ready-to-energize sites to meet the explosive demand from AI/GPUaaS providers and other compute-intensive customers.
Our mission is to pioneer the future of AI infrastructure through sustainable, efficient solutions that deliver long-term value to our clients, partners, and team. Building on our proven expertise in power strategy and operational excellence, we are positioned to become a leader in AI/HPC data centers across the United States.
ABOUT THE ROLE
As Senior Vice President Power, you will own the creation and advancement of Dataprana's high-quality AI-ready site pipeline. This is a critical executive role responsible for turning land and power opportunities into bankable megawatts by leading site selection, power strategy, utility interconnection, permitting pathways, and early-stage development across multiple U.S. markets.
You will be accountable for building 1 GW of qualified pipeline with clear land control, power pathways, permitting roadmaps, customer fit, and monetization thesis. You'll advance 350 MW into signed or near-signed development status with validated site control and power assumptions, while establishing a disciplined stage-gate system for site screening, prioritization, and go/no-go decisions that protect capital and accelerate execution.
This role requires a builder who can identify prime sites early, kill weak opportunities fast, and lead cross-functional teams through complex utility negotiations, interconnection studies, and regulatory approvals. You'll work closely with the CEO, COO, and Chief of Strategic Partnerships to align pipeline development with customer demand and commercial strategy.
We are looking for a leader who has:
- Deep senior experience in data center development, powered land acquisition, hyperscale infrastructure, or utility-facing project development
- Proven track record building hundreds of megawatts of pipeline from greenfield through operational readiness
- Strong command of utilities, substations, interconnection processes, permitting, environmental review, and site selection criteria
- The instinct to identify winning sites quickly and the discipline to walk away from marginal opportunities
If you are ready to bring that level of impact and help us build something exceptional, we want to hear from you.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Pipeline Development & Site Origination
- Pipeline Growth: Build and maintain 1 GW of qualified AI-ready site pipeline with validated land control, power pathways, permitting routes, and clear customer fit and monetization thesis.
- Advancement to Development: Advance 350 MW of pipeline into signed or near-signed development status with real site control agreements, and validated power assumptions.
- Site Origination: Identify, evaluate, and secure high-quality greenfield and brownfield sites across multiple U.S. markets. Prioritize locations with strong utility relationships, available substation capacity, and favorable regulatory environments.
Stage-Gate & Portfolio Management
- Stage-Gate System: Design and implement a disciplined stage-gate framework for site screening, due diligence, prioritization, and go/no-go decision-making. Ensure capital is deployed efficiently and weak opportunities are killed early.
- Portfolio Optimization: Continuously evaluate pipeline health, site readiness, and development velocity. Make data-driven recommendations on which projects to accelerate, pause, or abandon based on market conditions and customer demand.
- Cross-Functional Coordination: Partner with development, commercial, finance, and legal teams to align site selection and advancement with company strategy, customer commitments, and capital availability.
Power Strategy & Utility Engagement
- Utility & Interconnection Management: Lead all utility engagement, power procurement negotiations, and interconnection studies. Navigate complex utility processes, substation capacity assessments, and transmission upgrade requirements.
- Power Pathway Validation: Work with utility partners, independent system operators (ISOs), and balancing authorities to validate power availability, interconnection timelines, and cost structures for each site in the pipeline.
- Grid Capacity Analysis: Assess regional grid capacity constraints and identify creative solutions—including distributed energy resources, behind-the-meter generation, and alternative interconnection strategies—to accelerate project
Permitting, Entitlements & Regulatory Strategy
- Permitting Leadership: Oversee land use, zoning, environmental, construction, and operational permitting across all development sites. Build strong relationships with local authorities, environmental agencies, and planning commissions.
- Regulatory Navigation: Lead engagement with state and local regulatory bodies to secure necessary approvals and navigate complex compliance requirements for large-scale data center development.
- Risk Mitigation: Identify permitting and regulatory risks early in the development cycle and structure contingency plans to keep projects on schedule.
Team Leadership & External Partnerships
- Team Building: Build and lead a high-performing development team, including land acquisition specialists, power strategists, permitting coordinators, and engineering consultants.
- Vendor & Consultant Management: Manage relationships with engineering firms, environmental consultants, utility advisors, legal counsel, and other third-party service providers critical to site development.
- Market Intelligence: Stay ahead of market trends in data center development, power availability, regulatory changes, and competitive activity. Use insights to inform site selection and strategic direction.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED
- Experience: 10+ years experience in data center development, powered land acquisition, hyperscale infrastructure, utility-facing project development, or related infrastructure sectors, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership capacity
- Pipeline Track Record: Proven success building and advancing hundreds of megawatts of infrastructure pipeline from origination through development and construction
- Power & Utility Expertise: Deep understanding of utility interconnection processes, substation capacity, transmission infrastructure, power purchase agreements (PPAs), and grid dynamics
- Site Selection Mastery: Ability to rapidly assess site quality and eliminate weak opportunities early
- Permitting & Regulatory Knowledge: Strong experience navigating complex permitting pathways, including land use, environmental review (NEPA/SEPA), zoning, and local regulatory approvals
- Deal Structuring: Experience structuring land control agreements, power offtake arrangements, and development partnerships with utilities, landowners, and infrastructure investors
- Builder Mindset: You thrive on building from scratch, moving quickly in ambiguous environments, and making disciplined decisions under pressure
IDEAL CANDIDATE
- Background in electrical engineering is strongly preferred
- Data Center or Digital Infrastructure Background: Experience leading development for hyperscale data centers, colocation facilities, edge infrastructure, or similar mission-critical projects
- Utility & Energy Sector Experience: Background working directly with utilities, independent power producers, or energy infrastructure developers, with strong industry relationships
- Multi-Site Portfolio Management: Experience managing complex, multi-site development portfolios across multiple geographic markets and regulatory jurisdictions
- Customer-Centric Development: Ability to align site development strategy with customer requirements, including AI/HPC workload specifications, power density needs, and speed-to-market expectations
- Financial Acumen: Strong understanding of project finance, development economics, IRR modeling, and capital allocation for infrastructure projects
- Negotiation Skills: Proven track record negotiating complex agreements with utilities, landowners, local governments, and development partners
- Strategic Vision: Ability to think several steps ahead—anticipating market shifts, regulatory changes, and competitive dynamics that impact pipeline development
- Leadership & Influence: Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams, influence executive decision-making, and build strong external partnerships
- Education: Degree in Electrical Engineering, other Engineering, Real Estate Development, Business, or related field (advanced degree preferred but not required)
