Yesterday I unexpectedly checked off a major Nike bucket list item! Sure Elliott Hill coming back as CEO was big Nike news but the HIGHLIGHT of my week was meeting 𝗛𝗼𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱 “𝗛” 𝗪𝗵𝗶𝘁𝗲 and getting an autograph on his book. This moment didn’t just happen. The reality is that I’ve been prepared for this day for the past 6 months. I initially came across his book in the Spring and knew I wanted… no NEEDED … to meet the legendary “H” and personally thank him for his impact at Nike and beyond. Like everything I pursue in life, I created a workback plan. What needed to be true? ➥ Have his book in my possession ➥ Catch “H” without disrupting his day AND ➥ Have something for him to sign the book with Make it easy! So thankful my good friend John Weiss was on campus for other Nike business. We had just grabbed a lunchtime coffee at Wings Cafe and were strolling through the Jordan building when I spotted “H” and the timing felt right. 𝗠𝗲: John…take photos!! (drops bag on the floor) 𝗝𝗼𝗵𝗻: What? (Somewhat confused) 𝗠𝗲: That’s “H” and I’ve been waiting for this moment! 𝗝𝗼𝗵𝗻: (no response still confused) After “H” graciously agreed to sign my book I was thankful John went with the flow and started to snap photos. Having the Jordan dunk contest image in the background could not be more iconic. If you love Nike and don’t know who “H” is please take a moment to educate yourself. (I’ll wait) In summary, I’d say "H" represents one of the top 5 most influential people in Nike’s history.
