LARIAN ACCOUNT PRIVACY POLICY

This Larian Account Privacy Policy explains what Personal Information we collect in connection with your Larian Account, and how we use it. If you don’t understand this policy or any parts of it, you can contact us at privacy@larian.com with questions.

Capitalized terms are as defined in our Larian Studios Privacy Policy.

1. How we collect your Personal Information

We receive Personal Information from you when you create or use your Larian Account. You disclose it to us during the account creation process, when you update your account information, or when you use your account to obtain our products and services.

We receive your Personal Information from other Larian Account users when they send you a friend request, add you to their friend list, or invite you to play together.

 

2. What Personal Information we collect

We receive the following categories of information in connection with your Larian Account:

• Your Larian Account information. This includes your email address, your Larian Account username and hashed password, and Larian Account ID.
• Your linked accounts. This includes your platform username and ID for any accounts you link to your Larian Account, such as your Steam account, Xbox account, PlayStation account, GOG account or Twitch account.
• Your Merch Store information. If you use your Larian Account to sign in to our Merch Store and place an order, the associated information is saved in your account. This includes your contact information, shipping information, and order details.

3. How we use your Personal Information

We collect and process your Personal Information only as necessary to provide you with the Larian Account services, including to:

• Provide you with our online functionalities, including Cross Play and Cross Save;
• Allow you to download exclusive digital content;
• Allow you to save your Merch Store order information for faster checkout.

Under European data protection law, the legal base for the purposes detailed above is necessity for the performance of our Larian Account services (except for our marketing communications under Section , which are based on legitimate interest).

a) Creating a Larian Account and/or linking your platform accounts

When you create a Larian Account, we ask you to set up a username and password. Your password is hashed and stored on external servers that we do not have access to. You are also assigned a Larian Account ID that we use to enable your account features.

You can link your Larian Account to your account on the game platform you are playing on (Steam, GOG, PlayStation, Xbox) or to your Twitch account. This enables you to use our Cross Save and Cross Play features, which are explained below. When you link your accounts, we save your platform ID to authenticate you and provide the requested services.

When you log into your Larian Account, an account cookie is stored on your device. This account cookie enables you to access the Larian Account services without re-entering your login information. It expires in two days, and is replaced when you or your platform re-authenticate.

b) Cross Save

With the “Cross Save” feature, you can save your game progress on our servers. This enables you to retrieve your save file later on, such as if you would like to play on another platform.

To provide you with this feature, we link your Larian Account ID to your save file when you upload it to our servers. This enables you to retrieve the save file from another location later on, even if you are accessing it from a different platform.

The storage period of your Cross Save files depends on the game you are playing. Please see the applicable Terms of Service for further information.

c) Cross Play

With the “Cross Play” feature, you can play Larian Studios games in co-op with your friends. This includes adding players to your friend list, inviting them to game lobbies, and playing with them.

We may process your friends’ platform IDs and usernames to sync your platform friends with your Larian Account friends. If you would like to add a friend playing on a different platform, you can manually send them a friend request using their Larian Account ID or username. If you are friends, you can see whether they are online and invite them to your game lobby.

To play together in a lobby, you can send or receive an invite. If you would like to play with people not in your friend list, you can host or join a public lobby. To create your lobby, we process your Larian Account ID and your platform ID. You can launch the game from the lobby and play together. While you are playing together, we process all players’ IP addresses. This information is retained as long as your lobby is active.

d) Twitch extension

We also offer Twitch extensions for some of our games. These give you access to interactive features when you stream our games on Twitch.tv. When you link your Twitch account to your Larian Account as described under Section and download the relevant extension, it is activated on your channel and linked to the game.

e) Unlocking digital items

Occasionally, we may make digital items available to you. If you have purchased or are otherwise entitled to download these items, we authenticate your entitlement to unlock the items on your device. Your entitlement information is stored on the platform you have purchased or obtained the item on. We authenticate this entitlement using your Larian Account ID and security credentials. We may also make digital content available to you via a direct download link. The privacy practices and terms of the platform facilitating this download apply.

f) Purchasing items in the Merch Store

You can use your Larian Account to log in to the Larian Studios Merch Store. If you purchase items while logged in, your contact information, shipping information and order details will be saved in your account. This allows you to check out faster when ordering, view your purchase history, and easily return items or request additional assistance. The information is stored until you delete your account. In any case, we keep your invoices for seven years so we can comply with applicable legal requirements.

g) Sending you marketing communications

We may also use the email address you have used to create your Larian Account to send you information about products or services that are similar to the products or services that we offer you in the Larian Account. You can opt out of this use when you create your Larian Account, and at any time using a link contained in the messages we send you.

 

4. How we disclose your Personal Information

To provide you with the Larian Account features, we disclose your Personal Information to different internal and external recipients. This includes the following categories of recipients:

• Affiliates and subsidiaries. Data may be shared within and between Larian Studios affiliates and subsidiaries to enable us to provide you with the Larian Account. These affiliates and subsidiaries are located in different countries around the world. This means that your personal information may be transferred to the EEA, UK, Canada and Malaysia. Every Larian Studios entity adheres to the principles and restrictions set forth in this Policy.
• Cloud computing, storage, authentication, server hosting, and cloud relay providers. We use these service providers to provide you with our online functionalities.
• Your linked platforms. When you link a platform, we share information with that platform, as detailed above.

Beyond this, we may disclose your Personal Information to third parties where we have a legitimate interest in doing so or are otherwise permitted by law, such as to comply with our legal obligations.

All recipients are required to protect the Personal Information they receive from us or collect on our behalf and put in place appropriate security measures and safeguards. Wherever the above disclosures involve transferring your Personal Information internationally, including from within the European Economic Area to a third country, we have put in place appropriate safeguards to protect the safety of your Personal Information in line with this Privacy Policy, including Standard Contractual Clauses and certification under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.

Note that linked platforms may process your Personal Information for their own reasons and outside of our control. These parties’ privacy practices may differ from those of Larian Studios, and any data shared with or received by them is subject to their own privacy statements.

 

5. How long we keep your Personal Information

We store Personal Information connected to your Larian Account for as long as your account is active. You can delete your Larian Account, or change or delete individual information stored in your account, at any time by accessing your account settings under www.larian.com/account or contacting privacy@larian.com.

 

6. Changes to this Policy

We update this Policy from time to time to reflect changes in applicable laws, our business operations, technology, or other reasons we deem necessary or appropriate.

When we make changes, we update the “Last modified” date above and post the new policy to our websites. If we make material changes to the ways in which we process your Personal Information while we currently hold Personal Information about you, we will provide you with additional advance notice.
