Last week in Brussels, I had the honour of signing on behalf of Tripadvisor the European Code of Conduct for Online Reviews and Ratings in a public ceremony held at the European Commission and chaired by Commissioner Apostolos Tzitzikostas. The Code brings together platforms, accommodation providers and institutions to formalise our shared commitment to clearer, fairer and more trustworthy reviews that help travellers book with confidence and businesses receive genuine feedback. The Code includes principles that Tripadvisor, as a pioneer and leader in traveller reviews, has contributed to build and has upheld for years. Commissioner Tzitzikostas said that "Trust is the currency of tourism": authentic reviews empower consumers to make informed decisions, protect brands and build trust. I am confident that the Code will help ensure European consumers can have access to trustworthy reviews, while fighting fragmentation across Member States. By signing this Code, we affirm our support for transparency, fairness, and trust in online reviews, contributing to a better experience for travellers and accommodation providers alike. Thank you for your partnership and leadership Apostolos Tzitzikostas and Andreea Staicu.
