Visit by Prof. P M Ajayan, Benjamin M. and Mary Greenwood Anderson Professor of Engineering at Rice University and the founding chair of the Department of Materials Science and NanoEngineering. About the Lecture: School of Physics hosted an engaging talk by Prof. P. M. Ajayan, a pioneer in Nanotechnology, on “Phases of Carbon–Boron–Nitrogen Compositions”, exploring the rich phase space formed by carbon, boron, and nitrogen, highlighting the synthesis of advanced materials like C, BN, CN, and BCN for high-power electronic applications. Thank you, Prof. Ajayan, for an enlightening session that pushed the boundaries of our understanding, and for the wonderful discussion that followed. #DistinguishedLecture #Indian Institute of Science Education and Research, Thiruvananthapuram # School of Physics IISERTVM #Physics #ScientificTalk #2Dmaterials #Nanomaterials #Highpowerapplications

🎤 Departmental Colloquium Series at School of Physics, Indian Institute of Science Education and Research, Thiruvananthapuram The colloquium was delivered by Prof. G. Ravindra Kumar, Tata Institute of Fundamental Research. 🧠 About the Lecture: The school of Physics has initiated a "Departmental Colloquium series", which aims to bring esteemed speakers from diverse fields to deliver talks intended for a broad audience. Our previous talks by Prof. Deepak Dhar and Prof. Bert Hecht were a great success, thanks to the enthusiastic participation of students and faculty. The recent colloquium was delivered by Prof. G. Ravindra Kumar, where he shared about his experimental works on how matter behaves under extreme conditions—temperatures, pressures, and electric fields that are millions to billions of times larger than those encountered in everyday environments, densities thousands of times that of water, and magnetic fields reaching billions of gauss. It was a great privilege of the School of Physics to host such a pioneer in the field, who has won many accolades such as the Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize and the Infosys Prize. # Departmental Colloquium Series #Indian Institute of Science Education and Research, Thiruvananthapuram # School of Physics IISERTVM #Physics #ScientificTalk # Matter Under Extreme Conditions
