𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐧𝐞𝐱𝐭-𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐨𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐢𝐬 𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 Tower Semiconductor and Coherent Corp. are driving the continued scaling of optical interconnects for next-generation AI infrastructure. Tower Semiconductor and Coherent announced the demonstration of 400Gbps-per-lane data transmission using a silicon-only MZM, targeting next-generation 3.2T optical transceivers on Tower’s high-volume silicon photonics (SiPho) process. This demonstration of the new modulator, utilizing Coherent’s high-power InP CW laser, was presented at OFC 2026 and achieved a clear “open eye” at 420Gb/s PAM4, enabling 3.2T optical transceivers for both pluggable and co-packaged optics (CPO) architectures.
