While a story is more about the adventure than the ending, Pragmata has one of the most eye-jerking conclusions we can think of in recent memories. This is a game about killer robots in space, but also equally about parenthood, as Hugh tries to balance his survival with teaching a young Pragmata AI, Diana, the wonders of the world by her most childish means.

Throughout your journey, you will come across various items to find, along with areas that can be one-hundred percented. While it’s to feed most players' desire to never miss a single thing, there is something a little more to it, specifically helping move towards a True Ending.

Diana is just as important as Hugh, so keeping her Overdrive topped is of the utmost importance.

How to Get the True Ending

Objective #1: Clear the Story

By far the easiest way to begin your journey in getting the true ending is by completing the story for the first time. You won’t be able to achieve the true ending on the first playthrough, so it’s best to get through the main campaign as fast as possible to unlock the post-game content.

Once you have cleared the story, you will unlock the “Unknown Signal” game mode in the main menu. Selecting this will allow you to select a save file that has cleared the main game and put you in the shelter just before the final boss.

Objective #2: Clear Uknown Signal

Once you have loaded back into the main game, Cabin will tell you that he has detected an unregistered crew member, and you need to investigate. Head to the newly unlocked Hidden Chamber to find a Big Cabin.

Talking to him, he will give you brand-new objectives, specifically completing the hardest challenges in encrypted sim pods. As you might expect, you will need to complete all ten of these chambers.

Unfortunately, some of these have unlock conditions that may require you to go back out on the Moon to unlock them. Once these are all completed, you will receive a slew of new cosmetics and mods.

Objective #3: Equip the New Mod

Once you have completed the Unknown Signal’s pods, you will be granted a brand new special Mod called Black Box. This states that it’s "some sort of prototype memory mod. It may suppress the spread of dead filament in organic life."

Equip this and then go face the final boss again to get a slightly new ending.

What is the True Ending?

Pragmata Guide True Ending 08

While most games do have multiple conclusions, Pragmata takes a slightly different approach to it. You might expect something completely different from how the story ended and somehow Hugh and Diana make it to Earth together. Well, you would be incorrect.

How Capcom has approached the “True” ending of Pragmata is that, almost everything stays the same as it did in the original ending with a couple of minor additions.

Firstly, going through the credits, we will now greet you with wonderfully done artwork of Hugh and Diana interacting. This being the best part of the story, it’s very nice to see even more of their dynamic illustrated. Not to mention it gives players a good excuse to not skip the credits.

Lastly, and most importantly, it suggests that Hugh may not be dead. As the mod suggests, it may have suppressed the dead filament in his body, allowing him to head back to Cabin. How he will survive his remaining time on the Moon is unknown, but there’s at least hope for our lovable hero.
