It’s been a few months now since Raiders of Blackveil entered early access, but right when one might be tempted to think that its maker, Wombo Games, had gotten a little comfortable, it drops the game’s first big content update. This isn’t just a couple of maps and weapons either, but an overall upgrade to just about everything.

Raiders of Blackveil Executive Producer Talks Inspirations, Early Access Plans

Wombo Games' Benjamin Flösser talks with Hardcore Gamer about the origins of Raiders of Blackveil's unique characteristics, Early Access and more!

The centerpiece of this free new update for Raiders of Blackveil is a new biome, known as the Ghoulag, but it’s hardly the only content coming to the game. As they explore this new zone, players will also encounter new enemies, new gear and even a new mini-boss, along with updates to the perk system. Even more significantly, offline play is now finally an option.

Evil megacorp that it is, Blackveil has not, it turns out, just been sitting back as the rebel raids intensify. The Ghoulag is, in fact, a Blackveil interrogation site purpose-built for gathering intelligence about its enemies. It also happens to be built on top of some haunted ruins, a decision that will surely not come back to bite the company later. That said, the place is run by the very owl-like Wanda, one of Blackveil’s most vigilant wardens, which probably explains why nothing terrible has happened to the place yet.

The Ghoulag brings twelve new levels to Raiders of Blackveil as well as the new Houndmaster mini-boss and Wanda herself as the biome’s final boss. Fortunately for players hoping to bring down Wanda and the Ghoulag, new biome-specific equipment will be obtainable too, with much of it offering unique perk effects. These should all prove quite useful against the new Rathead, Ratghost, CursedBook and OccultistDoctor enemies as well.

As mentioned above, this new update for Raiders of Blackveil also brings two perk system expansions to the game as well. One of these is the Perk+ System, which enables players to invest more heavily into certain perks and further specialize their builds. New Champion Talents also complement this by both enhancing characters’ inherent abilities and creating potential for new perk combinations.

Raiders of Blackveil is primarily a co-op PvE experience, meaning players should be building out their rebel champions to better synergize with each other. Going deep into perks that compliment one’s given role is just one way of doing that.

Lastly, one of the community’s most requested features, Offline Mode, is now available. Whether one wants to try out some different perk combinations on their own time or simply doesn’t want to bother with multiplayer, they now have that option too.

Raiders of Blackveil - Roadmap 2026

This content update is only the first of four planned for 2026, with the other three coming in summer, autumn and winter. The summer update is expected to add two new champions, expansions to the difficulty and equipment systems, and other requested features like item re-rolls, modifications and upgrades. As for autumn and winter, these both add new biomes and other things such as new items, champions, champion talents, and more.

Raiders of Blackveil is set to see full release sometime this year too, so it’s possible that the winter update could hit pretty close to its release date. That last bit is just speculation, though, so stay tuned for more details as we get them!
