Blue Protocol: Star Resonance includes a lot of currencies, resources, and materials that can feel like a lot to keep track of and learn how to use. This becomes increasingly confusing as new materials are being added as the game updates, and you already need a variety of them to improve your gear in order to face harder challenges as they come to the game, such as the Dragon Shackles raids.
How Life Skills Work in Blue Protocol: Star Resonance
How the crafting and gathering Life Skill system works in Blue Protocol: Star Resonance.
Of all the upgrade materials you need for your gear, Throne (Pure Gold) seems to be the most difficult to get, as this is a different resource than Throne (Gold), which is somewhat easier to collect.
Getting and Using Throne (Pure Gold)
Throne (Pure Gold) is gathered from chests that drop from the Dragon Shackles raids, but they only drop on Nightmare difficulty, which is why this material feels so scarce in a game filled with materials and resources that you pick up from every activity you do in the in-game world.
Like Throne (Gold) and Glinting Stellar Cores, Throne (Pure Gold) is used as a currency for gear exchange when you speak to Harvey in the Artisan's Guild in Asterleeds. Since you'll need quite a few pieces of Throne (Pure Gold) no matter which piece of gear you want to exchange for, you'll likely need to run through the Dragon Shackles raids on Nightmare difficulty several times before you have enough to get a piece of gear.
Since these upgrade items are tradable, it's also possible that you can get them from other players if you're not having luck with getting them through raids, or if you want to speed up the process and get your gear faster.
Unlocking Dragon Shackles
Before you can enter Dragon Shackles to fight some vicious dragons, you need to unlock the raid. To do this, you want to speak to Hughie, who's located in the arena area on the north side of Asterleeds. He has a quest you need to pick up called "Mysterious Legacy," which will take you straight to the raid entrance. Luckily, you'll also pick up the ability to teleport to the raid starting point, and that's a huge bonus since the starting point is on a floating island.
You have one attempt for each difficulty of each dragon every week. This doesn't mean that you can only fight the dragons once a week on each difficulty, but instead it limits how many weekly rewards you can pick up from the Dragon Shackles raids. To match with a party for the raids, head to the floating island and interact with the object that looks like it would be an Engram Hub that you use to teleport around the rest of the map. This opens up the raid menu, giving you the difficulty options and a choice to match or challenge the dragons.
Before heading into the raid, you want to get your ability score up. The recommended score for Easy is 12,710, while the recommended score for Hard is 16,140. This means the score for Nightmare could likely be around 20,000, but the difficulty is not yet available at the time of writing. You can increase your ability score by participating in other events around the game to earn materials that you can use to refine your gear. Then, when you have materials, head to the Artisan's Guild in Asterleeds and speak with Maxim.
You can also purchase materials for upgrading your items, complete trials for talent points to fill out your talent tree, and it's a great idea to stock up on buff foods, which give you a temporary boost to your stats. Once you hit the score for Easy difficulty, you can start farming the low-level raid for items that will help you get strong enough to face the Hard and Nightmare difficulties in Blue Protocol: Star Resonance's Dragon Shackles raid.
How to Get Better Gear in Blue Protocol: Star Resonance
Like in any MMORPG, gearing is the backbone of the experience, so expect to be grinding quite a bit in Blue Protocol.
