Bots should be banned or be gone from search results

What's the point of bots? They have no purpose besides clogging search results. I always mute and report these stupid bots for being fake accounts and spam.

I don't care about what's playing on radio, what scientific articles have been published, daily news and other crap. I don't even want to look at AI slop. I just want to look at cool art and photos, but I have to scroll through all the text, links and bot spam just to view them.

Bots are nuisance. I hate Newsbeep, Europe Says, Briefly, Arxiv, radio, Bridgy, AI and other bots so much. I also cannot differentiate news bots from real news companies just because they have generic news website/channel name.

Bots should either be BANNED and be gone from Explore feed.

Unfortunately, differentiating bots from human users is an unsolved problem not just in the Atmosphere, but in computing in general. The most you can do is have a system for self-declaring and labelling automated accounts and just trust that people will use it correctly. They use the same API that everyone else does.

That might be true in a systematic sense but bots are easily apparent and could be moderated if resources were allocated to do that. Some platforms seek volunteers for such purposes who have the necessary technical skills. I suspect if Bluesky put out such a request there would be an eager cohort of people willing to assist.

I feel like this post is unnecessarily hostile. Maybe a labeler that finds annoying accounts and bots would be what you're looking for. Then you could hide them.
