The Shifting Sands update has introduced a deep fleet system to Soulmask. While the base game focused on ground travel and mounts, the DLC expansion moves the action to the water, the sand, and the sky.
These vessels are essential for navigating the massive desert map and surviving its unique environmental hazards.
From the basic Thatch Boat to the massive Steel Age Shark, each vessel represents a specific technological leap. If you want to know which ship fits your current progress and how to get them in the air, here is the complete breakdown.
Soulmask: All New Masks in Shifting Sands and How to Get Them
Stop climbing dunes and start flying. Our Soulmask Shifting Sands guide reveals how to find all four new masks, including the necromantic Anubis.
The Starter Vessels: Survival on the Water
Early in the Soulmask DLC, your main priority is staying out of the water. The desert oases are home to piranhas and electric eels that make swimming impossible.
The Thatch Boat (Level 0)
The Thatch Boat is your day-one necessity. It is found very early in the Knowledge and Technology tree under the basic seafaring nodes.
Crafting: It only takes Thatch and Thick Rope.
Utility: This is strictly a watercraft. It is slow and offers no protection, but it gets you across oases safely.
The Tribe Boat (The Scavenger's Choice)
If you prefer not to craft right away, you can find Tribe Boats scattered around the map.
How to Find: Their locations are randomized per save, but you can usually find them along coastlines or near enemy camps.
The Catch: You can claim up to three Tribe Boats at a time.
Capabilities: These come with skis, allowing them to travel on both water and sand. They also have a built-in inventory on the side. Note that these cannot be upgraded for flight.
The Bronze Age: The Wooden Sky Boat
The Wooden Sky Boat is the first vessel you can fully customize. It is the core transport for mid-game players and your first chance to take to the skies.
Unlocking and Construction You can unlock this ship by finishing the introductory DLC quests or by reaching the Bronze Age.
- Customization: Unlike the Tribe Boat, you build this one yourself. You can place foundations on the deck to add storage or workstations.
- Mobile Features: You can place your Bonfire on the deck to create a mobile respawn point. Despite being made of wood, the boat is immune to the bonfire's heat.
How to Fly

|
|
To get the Wooden Sky Boat airborne, you must reach Bronze Tier and craft three specific components: Marine Sand Skids, Small Wings, and an Airship Engine. You will also need a steady supply of Power Crystals to fuel the flight.
The Iron Age: The Falcon (Mechanical Bird of Prey)
Reaching the Iron Age allows you to craft the Falcon, a medium-sized ship that is much more advanced than the wooden version.
Unlocking the Falcon
Unlock the Premium Shipbuilding Technique in the Knowledge and Technology tab to access the Falcon parts.
Trade-offs: The Falcon is actually slower in the water than the wooden boat, but it is significantly faster in the air.
Engineering Requirements: You will need Gravity Cores from exploration and a Medium Energy Core. Small cores do not provide enough power for this ship.
The Retractable Gangway: This unique Iron-tier feature is an infinite stairway that you can drop from the sky, allowing you to access the ground without landing the entire ship.
The Steel Age: The Shark Ship (The Dreadnought)
The Shark is the largest ship in the game and represents the peak of Steel Age technology.
How to Get the Shark
You must reach the Steel Age and unlock the Advanced Shipbuilding Technique.
Offensive Arsenal: The Shark is a dedicated attack boat. It can mount giant cannons on the front and sides, making it the best choice for high-level boss fights and PvP.
Massive Scale: The Shark is more than double the size of the Falcon. Its hull is so large that you can actually dock a Falcon inside of it using the docking module.
The Rock Breaker Turret: This ship can mount a laser turret that fires a concentrated beam, capable of melting through almost any structure.
Which one should you grab first?
While the Horus Mask offers personal flight, you should focus on building the Wooden Sky Boat as soon as you hit the Bronze Age. It is the most balanced ship for learning the mechanics of flight and fuel management.
Save the Shark for when you have the resources to maintain its massive energy demands.
