The Shifting Sands DLC is officially out for free, and it is exactly what the endgame needed. We aren't just looking at a new desert map to grind; these four new masks are the real highlights. These relics are more than just cosmetics.
They change how you handle everything from simple travel to high-level boss encounters. One grants you flight, while the others let you play as a necromancer, a tanky crocodile, or a literal solar battery.
If you have already cleared the base game content, these masks are your next major objective. Here is the lowdown on where to find them and how they actually function when the fighting starts.
Soulmask Unveils Its 1.0 Launch With a Massive New Expansion
Soulmask leaves Early Access in 2026 with Shifting Sands, a huge Egyptian–alien expansion packed with new bosses, masks, ships and biomes.
New Masks Overview
The expansion adds four legendary relics to the game. While the first one is practically a gift, the other three are hidden inside Ancient Pyramids and guarded by bosses that will test your gear and your patience.
- Horus Mask: Your primary tool for desert traversal.
- Anubis Mask: Built for players who want to command an undead army.
- Sobek Mask: The best choice for water environments and dodging arrows.
- Amun-Ra Mask: Pure solar-powered damage and support.
Horus Mask: Celestial Wings
The Horus Mask is the first one you will encounter. It acts as your introduction to the new mechanics of the Shifting Sands.
- How to Get It: You do not have to fight a boss for this one. It is unlocked by default. You will find it in your inventory as soon as the DLC starts, specifically during the intro sequence where you fall from the sky.
- Why It Matters: In Mimicry mode, you can fly. This is a massive deal for scouting enemy camps or just skipping over difficult terrain. If you are tired of climbing dunes, this mask is the answer.

Anubis Mask: Doomsday Judgment
If you want to play as a god of the dead, the Anubis Mask is the way to go. This relic is designed for high survivability and punishing anyone who dares to attack you.
How to Get It
Head to the Sunken City region. Use the Mysterious Portal there to save time, then travel North until you spot the Ancient Pyramid.
You are looking for the Anubis Hound boss. Defeat it to get the key to the inner chamber where the mask is kept.
Key Abilities
- Status Reflection: Any status effect hitting you while in Mimicry mode gets sent right back to the attacker.
- Undead Army: Any marked enemy you kill will rise as an undead soldier to fight for you.
- Healing Boost: Provides a 50% boost to bandage duration, which is a life-saver during long raids.
Sobek Mask: Abyss Overlord
The Sobek Mask is all about that apex predator energy. It turns you into a tanky, fast-moving threat in the water that is surprisingly good at handling ranged enemies.
How to Get It
Make your way to the Three River Junction near the Barren Sandland Mysterious Portal.
The pyramid is located nearby. Be warned: Sobek is a giant crocodile and he hits very hard. This fight is a serious challenge if you go in under-leveled.
Key Abilities
- Aquatic Mastery: You get a huge increase to your Oxygen pool and swimming speed.
- Ranged Defense: Passively reduces damage taken from arrows.
- Combat Buffs: Grants a 20% Crit buff along with improved self-healing. It is a great all-around choice for aggressive players.
Amun-Ra Mask: Glorious Hymn
Last on the list is the Amun-Ra Mask.
This thing essentially turns you into a solar engine. If you enjoy seeing massive damage numbers and burning targets to a crisp, this is the one for you.
How to Get It
This one is located far to the North near Rock Lake.
Find the Rock Lake Mysterious Portal and head North to the pyramid. You will have to defeat the Scarab boss, which can be a bit of a headache, but the reward is worth the trouble.
Key Abilities
- Solar Energy: Fires pulses that damage everyone in your immediate vicinity.
- Weak Point Exposure: Use laser energy to reveal enemy weak points, which helps your entire tribe melt bosses faster.
- Incineration: Burn enemies directly in front of you for heavy damage over time (DoT).
Which One Should You Grab First?
Since the Horus mask is given to you immediately, use it to fly around and scout the other pyramid locations. If you want the best combat upgrade for solo play, go for Anubis. The ability to reflect status effects and raise minions is just too good to pass up.
If you are playing with a tribe, Amun-Ra is likely the better pick because exposing weak points helps everyone's DPS. Save Sobek for when you are ready to explore the deeper water regions or if you are tired of getting sniped by archers.
