Elden Ring Pest Threads Guide

  • Servants of Rot Incantation
  • Stamina Cost: 29
  • Deals Standard Damage and 1 Stance damage per hit
  • Can hit as few as 6 times on smaller enemies to as many as 30 times for larger enemies
  • Does NOT trigger Winged Sword Insignia, Rotten Winged Sword InsigniaMillicent's Prosthesis, or Thorny Cracked Tear
  • Very good tracking, therefore can be useful against smaller targets.
  • This incantation can do extremely high damage to large boss enemies, even without a significant amount of optimization
    • This is because the projectiles do damage to every piece of geometry they pass though, and the wings/arms/legs of larger bosses are counted separately.

Seeing Elden Beast's HP melting to 60% not even 10 seconds in with just 2-3x uses of this incant is never not funny to me. And have I mentioned that this requires barely any stat investment at all? Wtf were they thinking when they were designing this incant, lol

Absolute GOAT incantation against any large enemy, stand underneath an Ancient Dragon target the head and watch this absolutely shred it to pieces

        • Anonymous

I've known for a long time this was a contender for most OP spell in the game, but I just used it for the first time recently. Yeah, this thing is insane.

Imagine being a really bad player and finding this Incantation and trying it for giggles only to find out it's completely broken for a lot of boss fights. I took out the rot dragon in 5 hits... 5!!! Then I went and killed Radahn without summons, which I've never done before, before he could even enter his second stage.

            • Anonymous

how generous of fromsoft to give this such a nonexistent faith requirement so that every build can experience the joy of splooging dragons to death

              • ...also, why has no one mentioned that this mofo can and will PICK YOU UP AND DROP YOU IN THE FIRE BOWL LMAO

Devs decided Astels' instakill grab wasn't enough cheese for one game?

                • The furnace golems do NOT care about Poise damage.

They do their fake stance break at certain health thresholds. It is overwhelmingly likely that the reason this incant works on them so well is their huge size means a ton of threads hit them, they have tracking so they don't miss, and some folks have been able to hit both legs at the same time by targeting the further one then shooting them through the near one; so it's doing a ****ton of damage, compared to having to dance around chipping away with melee swings or whatnot.

                  • Anonymous

only way i have been able to beat any furnace golems so far, just point blank pest threads with all the good talismans

                    • Anonymous

That's how a kindred of rot gives you a wellcomming bug-cake. They give you a special facial care with that, they release it til the last drop on your face.

                      • Perfect with Melina Great Rune. 1 cast from Pest Thread can heal all your rally damage (if they all hit). Perfect with all big boss fight, from dragons to avatars. Anything with hitbox bigger than Mogh and Morgott then it will wreck them.

Not as powerful as normal single shot incant like Frenzy Burst when fighting human sized mobs.

                        • Anonymous

While fighting against Astel, I discovered that this Incantation causes that once it tries to teleport and you throw it at it, it doesn't do it, staying in its place.

More tests need to be done but it's something strange and useful at the same time.

                          • Your answer to counter-only attackers in pvp. Forces out of neutral. It's a tad FP hungry though compared to rock sling. Maybe even the new fire serpent incantation is an option.

Anybody that claims this does high stance damage against Furnace Golems is a liar, tried 10 full incantations and no stance break

hello to those who wanted to take down furnace golems without taking 10 minutes but forgot how to get this spell

Since it deals Physical Damage, it will stack with any Spell, Talismans, Consumable or Skill that's taken into account. How scary.

You can block this spell with a shield since it deals standard physical damage, saved me a few times in arena

"All-Knowing" my ass the idiot didn't even consider the possibility that gods are vulnerable to weaponized coom

As much as I like the giant shredder spell. I wish this had a unique mechanic to it. It says sticky threads. So I originally thought it would stick into the enemy and cause a debuff like lower movement speed or a dot effect that's more or less permanent but kinda weak and can stack and deals physical instead of a status.

                                        • Anonymous

This is a great side spell on a 80/80 INT/FTH holy caster build. The order seal gets the highest incant scaling in the game and you are already using incantation damage increasing talismans, so basically a min/maxed holy caster is without any changes minmaxed for this spell, which is very useful for killing bosses that are very resistant to holy.

                                          • Anonymous

Azur's staff in the offhand is very strong on this one, the cast speed boost is very noticeable, there's no weapon that boosts this incants damage anyways, AND the increased FP cost does not even apply to incantations! That makes it the perfect offhand weapon for a Pest Threads build, can only recommend.

                                            • Anonymous

Btw, if you didn’t go back to Gowry after giving Millicent the prosthesis and you finished her quest line, you can kill him and get it from his bell bearing.

                                              • Anonymous

Beyond the fact it melts large bosses, it has less stamina cost than stone of gurranq and can also be chaincasted. But better do it from a decent distance because its stance damage isn’t as great as the stone

                                                • So we have staves that boost whopping 2 (duo) spells but no seal with boost to Kindred of Rot spells, cmon Big M better give us one in dlc

                                                  • Anonymous

when you get to mohg on your incantation build and find out he has 80 fire res, pest threads will delete him before he can even transition when buffed with shabriri, vow, jelly shield and the right talismans

                                                    • Anonymous

busted against big enemies like dragons, giants, tree fatasses and the like.

it's not that good against anything else, but when it's good it's absolutely insane. an absolute must have

                                                      • Anonymous

If you think this doesn’t do a lot of damage, try casting it locked onto a dragon’s head while you’re standing behind one of its rear legs.

If the point you’re lock onto is CLOSER than the maximum range of the spell, then you’re not getting it to pass through enough damage detection zones.

                                                        • Anonymous

I was pretty septic with pest threads, the few time i used it it was very underwhelming, after reading some comments here i tried again and now i understand. With the Clawmark seal +19 and 60str it blasted the Black Blade Kindred and the dragon on the bridge not far from the bestial sanctum, the trick was to get really close, i only used pest threads and did one riposte on each with my weapon, it's staying in my memorized spells from now on

                                                          • Anonymous

It works well against any red wolf.
Pest Threads and Night Maiden's Mist are my favorite magic in the game.

however, at the moment of this spell's purchase, the player will have already found better alternatives

How could you possibly know that... Keep your opinions to yourself and just include the information relating to the specific subject.
almost every page has irrelevant info and opinion.

The best cosmos shark slug killer, low-key yet op as hell on most big bosses.

9/10 incant, only downside is range.

                                                                • Anonymous

Pest Threads is a weird incantation. It's cheap. It's FP efficient and it does a ridiculous sum of damage, once you realize that you just need an S scaling Seal. You don't even need to lock-on an enemy, just shred the Dragon(s) with it. You'll get what I mean.

                                                                  • Anonymous

Tested this today on my faith build for the first time today, first Fire Giant then Adula. Comments state that you have to get really close but it does annihilate super huge bosses from close. Giant was too mobile but staying right under Adula did 50% in two casts with 80 faith

                                                                    • Anonymous

Underrated spell if you're looking to cheese big bosses

Normally when you hit anything in ER, it adds that specific attack to its list of things to not take damage from again ( so you don't hit the same target multiple times with one swing ), when it comes to big bosses, each of their separate internally labelled body parts counts as a unique entity to hit, since this spell has several projectiles that keep going until they reach the "center" of a target, one thread can hit up to several times for a crazy amount of damage. Astel, Fire Giant, and Elden Beast weep when they see you use this

                                                                      • Anonymous

There is a hidden feature of this spell that increases its utility by quite a lot. While on your horse, Torrent, this spell once locked onto the enemy does not care for where your character is pointed. Meaning, an enemy can be directly behind you, once you cast this skill it will go directly for them, unlike most other skills which require your character to to some degree be pointed towards your locked-on target.

This in my opinion significantly boosts its usefulness is PVE, and makes it excellent for Mongol-Horse-Archering any enemy while running away from it. The only downside is the absurdly low range, which I wish would get buffed.

                                                                        • Anonymous
