Turtle is a Wildlife Creature in Elden Ring. Turtles are not hostile and will not flee on approach. They will attempt to hide in their shells when attacked.
Turtles are known as a nutritious ingredient, symbolic of inexhaustible power.
However, those who hold turtles to be wise creatures consider the practice of eating their meat to be barbarous.

Elden Ring Turtle Notes & Tips
- Turtles are non-aggressive creatures and hide in their shell if you attack them. When hiding, their shell deflects attack akin to shield. Two-hand your weapon to avoid bouncing off.
- They are weak to Fire and Strike damage.
- Affectionately nicknamed “Dogs” by the community.

Killing a dog is unforgivible. Do it and the whole fanbase will invade you and beat you to death with their bare hands.
What about buying turtle neck meat, pickling it, and eating it.
What then?

AnonymousBe wary of dog
Therefore, no attacking ahead
*"Wait" gesture*
AnonymousThe other reason why we call them dogs is because they are the only passive creatures that don’t run or fly away when approached

Anonymous
AnonymousFor those curious on why they are dogs: the message system doesn't allow us to say turtle, so dog. Praise the dog!

Anonymousi killed every single one on the entire map + dlc after a full day of routing. it took around an hour

Anonymous
AnonymousThese are dogs, and if you don't agree you are not part of the souls community, let along exist, you are as meaningful as a spec of dust in a shipyard.

AnonymousDog so to speak If You Touch One Scale On Their Shell I Will Invade In The First Step and Gravity Missile or Ghostflame Explosion You. Sorry just worried about the dogs.

AnonymousWorth pointing out, these are tortoises not turtles. Turtles have flippers and are swimmers while tortoises have small clawed feet and live on land only (they cannot swim).

Anonymousi don't like to *kill* them directly but i a habit of kicking them (crossbow skill).. sometimes off cliffs :)

AnonymousGet the bell bearing for the necks, if you kill the dogs you are a bad person

Anonymoushaving giant variants of these turtles roam free was such a missed oportunity. like imagine just going through limgrave and see 2 or 3 giant turtles just vibing there

Anonymous
AnonymousI can see why people would kill a turtle to farm crafting ingredients or to shock people when online, but I don't get why anyone would kill them in single player.

AnonymousI'll say it: DOG!!!!!!!!!
plz no give me likes! plz no one loves me :'( I need approval by making soul jokes plz plz ah: FINGER BUT HOLE!!!!!
Laugh plEASE!!!!;! WAAAAHHHHH
AnonymousFirst off why do everyone call turtles dogs in Elden ring? THEY ARE NOT DOGS next Please don’t kill them just please don’t kill them

Anonymous
AnonymousKill a tortise and I swear upon my maiden I will invade your world and deliver to you divine punishment unlike anything ever witnessed.

When I see a turtle I thinkthere is a secret/easter egg nearby.

AnonymousOkay.. can't see why nobody's pointed this out.. but.. that's NOT a turtle. it is a Tortoise. Even the one in the church whose a priest.. is a TORTOISE. Tortoises don't swim, have trunk-like legs and long necks, and dome shaped shells. Turtles have flat shells and webbed feet, and rarely hang on land that isn't at least close to water.

AnonymousWant a turtle ash summon in the DLC. Doesn't fight. Doesn't die if attacked. Just there for emotional support. Also, it should be called "The Wise Dog" summon.

AnonymousMiyazaki should make it that if you kill a dog, 200,000 giantdads will invade and kill you, then point down on your disgusting corpse. Also, they infinitely respawn.

Anonymous
AnonymousIf you dare to attack one of those creatures, then you have no soul.
If you attack the turtle pope, there's a special place in hell for you...

AnonymousThere are the Standard Öl doggos, but There are also the spectroggos, wise beasts usually in 3 guarding magically-biased Towers, and the Gigantoctraloggos, which are a massive breed of Spectroggos, they have such Power they can defy Gravity and fly in the Air, Hope dlc adds New dog breeds

AnonymousOnly the most vile and cruel beings would even think of harming these sacred dogs

AnonymousMiyazaki calling these things turtles instead of tortoises is almost as egregious as calling all of the obvious wyverns "dragons", lmao. He should know better! Perhaps ol' George had a hand in this madness.

Anonymousif you kill 10000 Dogs then the radagon fight will be replaced with ''Malangiel the Dogshell Lord''. He is a giant, fast dog that uses 2 colossal colossal swords and 1 colossal colossal weapon, He is very tanky and has very powerful and evil combos, but his recovery time after one of his many combos is slow, so thats the best way to get hits in cause other wise he will smack you with his swords, and DO NOT stay behind him, he can swing his colossal colossal weapon faster than a dagger and pretty much instakill you, so the way to go is to punish him for comboing. If you hit malangiel the dogshell lord in the head enough times, hes open for a crit which deals big damage to him. When you finally beat him you gain 3,560,700 Runes and automatically get ''Malangiel's Weapon chain'' which is a unique weapon considering of 2 colossal swords and 1 colossal weapon with a very fun and unique moveset, it also gets a S in strength at 10+. Good luck fellow tarnished, and may you slay the Dogshell Lord Malangiel. also you unlock a special ending when you kill him
