AnonymousHere's my little BB build for rl 137 that focuses on spamming Taker's Flames, with the intention of melting bosses' inflated HP pool in co op, and surviving long enough to get to the boss room. Vagabond starting class.
STATS:
Vigor 60
Mind 14 (3 uses of taker's flames with no FP waste, exactly 4 with the Filigreed Crest)
Endurance 13 (dump this or inflate this depending on your drip needs)
Strength 22 (minimum req for BB)
Dex 15 (minimum req)
Faith 75 (could go to 80 and dump endurance)
TALISMANS:
Carian Filigreed Crest, Shard of Alexander, Talisman of the Dread/Millicent's Prosthesis, Spider Scorpion Charm/Blessed Blue Dew Talisman. I replace the scorpion charm with the dew talisman while exploring/clearing dungeons to save flasks for the boss.
PHYSICK:
Flame-Shrouding Cracked Tear, Blooduscking Cracked Tear.
Other weapons that slot well are Magma Blade, Magma Wyrm's Scale Sword, and any faith scaling weapon obviously. Slot out the dread talisman for the prosthesis/dex talisman when needed, or just respec. But that's mostly for pvp where taker's flames just sux.
AnonymousGreat at dealing with fire knights. And great at dealing with small humanoid enemies in general, as well as large ones. Also, great against non humanoid enemies. It melts anything that moves, really.

AnonymousThis is what Soul of Cinder's coiled greatsword wished it could've been

AnonymousIs there any armor that can buff takers flame in normal game? (not dlc)

AnonymousThis page lacks info about the knockdown effect which was removed from the skill.

Anonymous
AnonymousTalisman of the Dread + Fire Scorpion Charm + Shard of Alexander = Profit

Anonymous60 vigor, erdtree favor 2, crimson amber 3, fire knight helm, crimson spill tear, morgott rune and you heal 10% of your hp per hit. pair that with golden vow, crab, hp regen and defensive talismans = unkillable

AnonymousI’m not so sure about the “scales only with faith” bit. I do comparable damage with ~80 Strength no matter if my faith is pumped or not. I was doing Str/Arc and using Blasphemous Blade as a backup, decided to respec into Str/Faith and the difference is minimal. Same with Wave of Gold (Which I use to farm). 80 Str and ~30-40 faith and I’m still one-shotting Albinaurics and doing comparable damage to Mobs in DLC as I am with 80 faith.
Gonna respec back into Str/Arc as the extra discovery is nice and I like bleed. :)
AnonymousTalisman of the Dread aka magma buff talisman, works on this insane AoW.

AnonymousI wouldn't worry about nerfs to this. I tried it today in the DLC and it still murders everything up to and including the really difficult bosses. With mimic tear the reliable easy mode option is intact.

Anonymousremove knockdown on this but keep it on wave of gold. average fromsoft balancing

Anonymous
AnonymousGot nerfed with 1.12.
Decreased the fire’s poise damage.
Removed the fire’s knocking down effect.
Anonymous
AnonymousThis needs a 15-20% damage nerf. I say this as a PvE-er. It's so much better than any spell I have available and I'm currently slapping godfrey with it. It just does more damage and then also heals me. I have no reason to use any of the dozens of incantations I have picked up purely because this AoW is too good.

AnonymousFromSoft should nerf the damage on this by 3% and increase the poise damage by 1.3%, but only in PvP. Just to make it in line with their other weird ass balance changes.

AnonymousFromsoft when balancing be like:
Hmmm, this very weak and predictable ash of war doesn't deserve any hyperarmor
But this self-heal nuclear lava explosion needs TONS of hyperarmor
AnonymousWill do a challenge run on NG+ without healing flasks. Definitely not as hard as no hit, but I think it will be fun

AnonymousAmazing skill coupled with high poise and shard of Alexander + Mimic. Malenia didn’t stand a chance she was more down than up

Anonymous
Anonymous"NOTE: This Skill was changed with Patch 1.07 as follows..." Oh no no no please don't nerf please don't nerf God damn... "...Damage Detection has been added to the weapon part." ...Phew.

AnonymousWith some buffs and the Mimic you can easily take out the last 4 bosses with this. Ridiculously good.

Anonymous
Anonymous30 FP for massive damage and upwards of 300 HP restored, sounds cool Fromsoft

AnonymousBlasphemous blade and godslayer's are why I didn't respec for a second playthrough.

AnonymousCommenting just in case anyone else blindly takes Kokca's advice below like I did - he's wrong. Taker's Flames costs 23 FP with the Carian Filigreed Crest equipped, therefore you need 15 Mind to cast it 4 times, not 11 like he claimed.

AnonymousThis paired with the flame of frenzy incantation makes dealing with crystalians a lot less painful even in a difficult late game area like Elphael brace of the haligtree. The weapon art knocks them flat and if you start to cast FoF when you see them starting to get back on their feet you should hit them before they can get close enough to use melee attacks on you, it works on the crystalian caster as well.

busted ass move at 11 mind + with carian filigreed talisman you can use this 4 times before running out of mana

Anonymousthey really need to fix the phantom proc issue. this and black knife are almost unbearable with it still being in the game.

AnonymousIt isn't mentioned here, but Taker's Flames does not cause damage to the Serpent enemies in Volcano Manor; it only provides knock back.

AnonymousDoes Arrow's Reach Talisman affect this? I know some skills have less dropoff at range AND the travel speed seems to increase. It might be harder to dodge if this travels at a faster rate.

AnonymousI faced a really cool dude in pvp today who used the weapon art to heal even if it is rolled due to netcode phantom hits. Super creative! Although I think it only phantoms if you roll through it instead of to the side.

AnonymousWhy do I always think of the Undertaker first and foremost when I see its name...

AnonymousWhenever I use it I call out I AM THE TAKER, AND THESE ARE MY FLAMES

AnonymousThe design of this sword is simultaneously similar to the Mea Culpa from the game Blasphemous (ooooh a possible reference) and the sword infused with all the behelits that the skull knight uses in Berserk.

AnonymousThis really should have been Plunderer's Flames. Taker's sounds so stupid.

Got 5062 damage from this one with buffs................brutal!

Anonymous
Anonymousseems like the flame grant me strength incantation buffs this damage

AnonymousMost busted weapon art ever, I love it. Immense damage + knocks down nearly anything that can be knocked down.

Anonymousthis confirms it's a refference to blaphemous. same weapon skill you can use in that game aswell

Have this and all the related boosts and talismans just to deal no damage at all to those almighty burning slugs. You can still heal from the effect though.
